Your Unique Island Experience
A
unique island venue with a beautiful Marquee, traditional Britannia Suite, two ceremony rooms, and beautiful Front Lawns, the Surbiton-based fullyrefurbished Ravens Ait Island is landscaped with southfacing gardens. With views upriver and overlooking the Hampton Court grounds, it creates an ideal setting for a wedding day. A Thames island located between Surbiton, Kingston and Hampton Court Park in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, Ravens Ait Island offers bespoke wedding facilities to ensure a couple’s special day is enjoyable and memorable. “Ravens Ait Island is a wedding venue with a difference. Situated in the heart of the River Thames, boasting stunning views of Hampton Court grounds, and with access only by boat, it is like no other venue,” says Jessica Watts, events manager at Ravens Ait. Having worked at Ravens Ait for three years, she takes pride in rolling out the red carpet on a couple’s special day. “I understand a couple’s wedding day is the most important day of their life and that they will want it to stand out from all other weddings. Here on the island we understand that each event should be different and work on a bespoke basis.” With three beautiful spaces, namely the Britannia Suite, Thames Suite, and the Marquee, Ravens Ait boasts flexible capacities across two main rooms. Licensed for Civil Ceremonies in both the Britannia Suite and Thame Suite, couples can have their wedding photography on Ravens Ait’s landscaped lawns, irrespective of the room they choose.
“We are completely surrounded by water, with each space on the island facing the river,” elaborates Jessica. “This magical scenery results in some fantastic panoramic views, either from our main building or from our stunning marquee and front lawns. “Outside space is not hard to come by either. Whether it is taking in sunsets over beautifully decked areas, or your wedding photographs on our landscaped lawns, our outside spaces give you a real sense of being on the river.” Indeed, Ravens Ait’s unique selling point is apparent from the moment you arrive. Whilst being an island is not ordinary, the fact that the venue is only accessible by boat adds to the unique feel. “I would say this particular aspect is certainly what gives our venue this unique charm and theatre. Put simply, this venue’s sure to give our bride and groom and their guests a day they won’t forget,” states Jessica. With a selection of indoor and outdoor spaces including spacious lawns with strikinglymanicured gardens, Ravens Ait caters to a range of needs – from the wedding ceremony and the lavish wedding breakfast to champagne and canapés on the lawn – with each wedding designed to meet exacting client requirements

“Our experienced team of wedding planners will do everything possible to make your special day one you will cherish forever,” says Jessica. “Our two acre island offers many opportunities, with each wedding designed around your vision. Your day can make use of our whole island, with main rooms The Marquee and Britannia Suite, ceremony rooms, and our beautiful landscaped lawns all overlooking the Thames and the grounds of Hampton Court. Each area provides a truly different atmosphere to enhance your day.” The wedding couple arrive on an Edwardian launch hired from one of Ravens Ait’s trusted suppliers whilst guests get ferried across on one of the island’s two private launches. From there, the couple are greeted by a personal wedding co-ordinator, who will be on hand throughout the day, as has been the case since their first enquiry The venue also provides for highly experienced caterers who work with the wedding party to present a dining experience of the highest standard. The island’s main rooms have flexible capacities. Up to 300 guests can enjoy a wedding breakfast in the Marquee while 180 can enjoy the ambience of the more traditional Britannia Suite. The two dining areas can also be dressed to compliment the couple’s style and wishes. Couples can choose from three of Ravens Ait’s catering options, which not only have a vast number of menus to choose from, but also relish in curating a menu with a couple’s vision in mind. “You will find a relaxing and comfortable reception area in the Thames Suite, which is a fully-licensed ceremony room,” adds Jessica. Twice a year, Ravens Ait also holds wedding shows, which provide for more insight into the venue and the special offers available when booking the island. You can also arrange a private showround at a time that suits you.
