ith stunning views and outstanding grounds, Micklefield Hall is able to conjure up a magical mix of complete privacy, exclusivity and efficiency, which, when combined with the truly stunning setting, would make for a perfect venue for any wedding. Owned and run by Jamie and Anna Rankin, who live in the house together with their four children, ensures that the elegant Georgian house has a wonderful family feel. Last year the family completed their 15th summer of weddings but still retain an enthusiastically-infectious approach to the business of weddings.
The newly-renovated 16th century Tithe Barn, which seats up to 200 guests, comes with under floor heating, air conditioning, stage, dance floor, separate bar area, and sound systems for both speechs and dancing. Brides are offered an upper room in which to change and the venue is licensed for Civil Ceremonies. On arrival there is a landscaped car park and guests walk through a cloistered courtyard and on into the gardens for the Civil Ceremony and/or the drinks reception. If the sun is shining, the wedding can take place at the end of the herbaceous border. The bride and groom are married in the small temple whilst guests are seated around the pond in the shade of a 450 year-old oak tree. The couple can choose their caterers from the approved supplier list. Wine is selected from an extensive wine list, following tastings held at Micklefield Hall and starts at £10 + VAT per bottle. The Bride and Groom can dance their way into the night to either a disco or a band of their choice or one that the venue would be happy to recommend.
“One of the most special things about Micklefield is the view,” says Anna. “When you stand on the lawn and look towards the distant hills, you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking you were in the depth of the countryside. Yet Micklefield is situated within the M25 and just 1 ½ miles from the Chorleywood exit at J 18.” “The other fantastic thing is that the venue is exclusively yours for the day and every single wedding that we have at Micklefield is tailor-made to suit the exact requirements of the bride and groom”.
From the moment you make your initial phone call, “we and our colleagues will personally look after you,” states Jamie. “We will hold your hand as much or as little as you want. We have brides who want to make all their own arrangements and those who simply don’t know where to start. The really important thing for us is that their day is everything that they want it to be – and more.”
