By choosing the Donkey Sanctuary, not only will you be able to choose a spectacular and unique location that will surely make this a day to remember, but you will also help to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of donkeys. Claire Shapcott who is the Wedding Coordinator, can arrange two styles of wedding ceremonies. One quite formal, and another which has proved to be increasingly popular, as this is a fun and quirky ceremony including the donkeys taking part. Although the charity was founded in 1969 by Elisabeth Svendsen MBE, the wedding service was only registered in 2013 and officially licensed on Valentines Day. There is so much picturesque woodland surrounding the centre and next year there will be an option to choose a woodland wedding in this wonderfully romantic setting. Situated in the heart of the sanctuary, The Russell Garden Room can accommodate 20 guests with its own tranquil walled garden, providing room for a further 80 guests. Claire finds it important to build a relationship with the bride, so that the day will be tailored to her personal preferences. Lauren and Peter Randle who were the first couple to celebrate their wedding at the sanctuary quoted “It was a five star wedding” among many others who have given uplifting testimonials. When the wedding is over, memories continue, and many return to become a lifetime supporters. They are in a very challenging economic climate and the Donkey Sanctuary is now taking bookings for 2015.
