THOUGHTS ON THIS ISSUE

In the wedding world, autumn always signals two highly anticipated events: New York Bridal Fashion Week, and the lead up to holiday engagement season. It’s the perfect time for couples to kick off their journey to the altar, as new bridesto-be can immediately start perusing the latest designer bridal collections in search of their dream wedding gown.

For our Fall 2024 digital issue, I wanted to highlight fashion, accessories, design, destinations, and love stories that have a global appeal. With 84% of Wedding Style couples choosing to host destination weddings around the world, we

continue to feature the top hotels, resorts, and unique places that our brides and grooms love.

Stateside, regions off the beaten path like Paradise Coast in Florida offer a true destination experience without having to venture overseas; and 5-star hotels like The Breakers Palm Beach are a favorite among local and international couples alike.

The real weddings featured in this issue will take readers to four top wedding destinations–New Zealand, Italy, Mexico, and New York City. Now is an ideal time to start planning a destination wedding for Fall/Winter 2025, and these love stories provide plenty of inspiration.

One of our recent travel highlights was when our Managing Editor had the opportunity to visit Jamaica, and immerse herself in the island and its colorful culture. As our featured honeymoon destination in this issue, Jamaica is undoubtedly the Land of One Love – the perfect place for couples to unwind, indulge, explore, and soak up lots of feelgood energy as they begin a new life together.

Finally, this hurricane season has been a difficult one for many of our friends and partners in the affected areas. Our hearts are with everyone who is spending this Fall rebuilding, and I wish you a peaceful remainder of 2024 filled with support, comfort, and love.

An Intimate with Classic Tuscan

EMILY BONHAM & PETER MARCUCCI

Intimate Wedding in Italy

Tuscan

Charm

Coachella 2016 was in full swing when Emily Bonham and Peter Marcucci first met. The two were introduced through mutual friends, and they instantly connected while enjoying the music and atmosphere of the festival in Palm Springs. Despite having to head back to two different cities separated by more than 1,000 miles, both Emily and Peter realized there was something special happening between them.

“We remember the exact moment we were introduced,” Emily shares. “It felt magnetic. Although we went our separate ways after that magical weekend, our paths soon intertwined again when I visited Pete in Santa Monica a few months later. Shortly after, I made the leap to move to Los Angeles, and that’s when our love story really began.”

A Proposal in Paris

Paris was one of the first places where the couple traveled abroad together, and it has since become a very special city to them. On New Year’s Eve 2022, Emily and Pete found themselves in the City of Light with friends, enjoying a cozy dinner at Pink Mamma in the vibrant Pigalle quarter. After dinner, the group made their way to the Eiffel Tower, just in time for its midnight sparkle.

“As we posed for what I thought was a casual photo,” Emily describes, “Pete surprised me by dropping to one knee along the Seine, with the tower shimmering behind us. It was a moment out of a dream, and I couldn’t believe how perfectly he had planned it. I said ‘yes,’ surrounded by our friends and the magic of Paris.”

Planning an Intimate Wedding in Italy with Classic Tuscan Charm

As soon as the wedding planning process began, Emily and Pete knew they wanted to celebrate their nuptials with an intimate wedding in Italy. They always dreamed of a destination wedding, which would also serve as a family vacation for immediate and extended family.

For their wedding venue, the couple chose Borgo Stomennano for its classic Tuscan charm, and rented out the entire estate for their guests.

“We wanted our wedding to be more than just one day,” Emily adds, “but a full weekend of relaxation and joy for everyone to share in. From quiet strolls around the property, private wine tours, lounging by the pool, and enjoying brunch at everyone’s leisure, the weekend was designed to embrace both celebration and tranquility. The Borgo Stomennano team exceeded our expectations, making everyone feel like they were part of something truly special.”

The week leading up to the wedding was filled with adventures in Florence and Rome. Accompanied by their families, the bride and groom created lifelong memories while savoring gelato and pasta, dining al fresco, and exploring St. Peter’s Basilica, galleries, and landmarks. Since it was a destination wedding, the couple also wanted to give their guests the opportunity to appreciate the surrounding area of Borgo Stomennano, with its close proximity to Siena, Florence, and the castle town of Monteriggioni.

“On the first night,” says Emily, “we rented the lovely restaurant Le Torri in Monteriggioni, creating a wow factor where everyone would feel transported back in time to a place very different from what our guests could ever imagine experiencing

in the U.S. The following night, the night before the wedding, we hosted a dinner in the Borgo Stomennano wine cellar, catered by the property, followed by a welcome reception and celebration at the Grand Hotel Continental’s main ballroom in Siena. The evening featured music, cocktails, champagne, toasts, and delicious bites.”

An Enchanting Fairy Garden

When the wedding day arrived, 80 of Emily and Peter’s closest loved ones surrounded them for a celebration that was repeatedly described as “magical.”

“We were enveloped in indescribable love and joy,” says the bride. “The intimacy of the celebration made every moment feel even more special, and the magic of it all was something we’ll carry with us forever.”

Complementing their venue’s classic Tuscan charm, the wedding décor consisted of a colorful palette of pastels that paired perfectly with the dramatic green landscape and gardens. One of the couple’s close friends lovingly referred to their wedding as “an enchanting fairy garden,” which provided the ultimate atmosphere for sipping Aperol spritzes while the tunes of a saxophone player filled the air. Cocktail hour seamlessly blended into the night, and a DJ and saxophone duo created an idyllic balance of energy and elegance.

During the reception, guests dined amidst the estate’s beautiful gardens, with breathtaking views of Monteriggioni in the distance. The wedding tablescape provided a stunning décor focal point – a single, winding table adorned with lush greenery, with chandeliers and flickering candlelight casting a warm glow throughout the evening. For the wedding menu, the couple opted for classic Italian food and chic hors d’oeuvres, while finishing things on a sweet note with gelato and an iconic Millefoglie wedding cake.

“One of the most special moments for us was when the sun peeked through the clouds, casting a golden glow over the rolling hills of Tuscany with the saxophone playing in the background,” the bride reflects. “It felt surreal, and we spent that time savoring the moment with our guests – chatting, laughing, and creating memories as we enjoyed cocktail hour together. The night ended with dancing, laughter, and the joy of celebrating under the Tuscan sky.”

The Ultimate Italian Honeymoon

The couple’s destination wedding in Italy was followed by the ultimate Italian honeymoon. Their itinerary included visits to the southern coast of Italy, Taormina, the Amalfi Coast, Ischia, and finally a stop in London.

“My husband’s grandparents emigrated from Sicily,” Emily shares, “making it a bucket list destination for us, so it was the perfect choice for our first stop. We stayed at the Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo, where breathtaking views of Mt. Etna, combined with exquisite food and wine, created an unforgettable experience. Our days were spent relaxing at the Sant Andrea Hotel’s beach club, while our evenings were filled with sipping local wines and negronis on the Timeo’s charming patio. The most memorable moment was chartering a boat to explore the Amalfi Coast. We spent an incredible day exploring the coastline and swimming between the enchanting Li Galli islands with friends who joined us on their own boat, followed by a romantic dinner at La Sponda in Positano.”

ECLECTIC

bridal fashion

As the luxury fashion industry moves away from temporary trends, and designers focus on embracing concepts and aesthetics for their collections, each season brings a growing variety of wedding gowns for every bride. From historic periods like the Renaissance and Impressionist eras, to the celebration of heirloom fashion houses, the latest Fall 2025 bridal collections are an eclectic mix of gorgeous gowns and bridal looks.

Historic Icons

“Suivez-Moi,” the Fall 2025 collection by Galia Lahav, reimagines the Rococo era of fashion. Inspired by Rose Bretin, the iconic dressmaker for Queen Marie Antoinette, this collection is glamorous, ornate, and features some stunning corsetry.

Ines Di Santo also payed homage to history this season, premiering her “Renaissance Reimagined” collection at New York Luxury Bridal Fashion Week. With wedding gowns that embrace texture, proportion, and grandeur, this collection is Ines’ own retelling of the Renaissance and its artistic spirit.

Dramatic Silhouettes

For the modern bride who loves the aesthetic of a princess ballgown, Tony Ward’s Fall 2025 collection is a luxurious celebration of romance, exceptional construction, and dramatic silhouettes.

Zuhair Murad continues to be at the forefront of the global bridal couture scene, with timelessly lush ballgowns appealing to international brides with exceptional style.

As a beautiful reflection of the season, the Fall/Winter 2025 collection from Elie Saab – named “Winter’s Grace” – is a medley of frosted flowers and delicate snowflakes that “sings to the transient world of nature’s artistry.”

Pure Enchantment

Fans of the literary arts know that fantasy worlds are one of the biggest trends in pop culture at the moment. Designers like Rami Al Ali have taken that concept, and melded it in way that is sophisticated, modern, and timelessly elegant for today’s brides. Blending fantasy with the contemporary, his couture bridal gowns for 2025 feature structural silhouettes, off-white hues, and bold accents that are tempered by delicate details.

Lihi Hod has also entered the fantasy realm, with curve-skimming wedding gowns that are the epitome of enchantment. The Dreams 2025 collection, “Twilight,” was inspired by “The Secret Garden” and the poem “Paradise Lost,” capturing “the essence of timeless beauty and literary grandeur.”

Enchanted gardens continue to be one of the most popular aesthetics and sources of décor inspiration for Wedding Style couples. Arava Polak’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection couldn’t be more fitting for those brides. These gowns were inspired by the movement of a blossoming flower, and the MELANIE gown is a favorite showstopper with its impeccably crafted bodice, floral embellishments, and matching gloves.

Cerebral Beauties

The Impressionist era has provided inspiration for many fashion collections over the years, with its abstract visuals, romantic watercolor palette, and unbound nature. Taking that idea a step further and focusing on the more cerebral aspect of the Impressionist period, Georges Hobeika focused on Claude Monet’s gardens in Giverny when creating his Fall 2025 bridal collection. The construction of each gown was very intentional, designed to elongate the body while cinched waists create an air of aristocracy. Lace and thread embroidery recreate the look of lavender, roses, bay leaves, star jasmine, and bougainvillea.

Peter Langner’s 2025 bridal collection is one to be applauded, as it highlights the importance of responsibility and accountability in fashion. Titled “Responsibility of Beauty. The Value of Tradition,” these wedding gowns reflect the Italian tradition of craftsmanship while also using responsibly sourced materials. The silhouettes are architectural, the handmade sequins are eco-friendly, and Langner continues to demonstrate intelligent steps designers can take towards creating a more ethical, sustainable fashion industry.

Elegantly Avant-Garde

Modern elegance and an avant-garde approach to design reign supreme in the latest collection from Viktor&Rolf Mariage. Brides-to-be can look forward to a wide range of embellishments ranging from minimal, to statement-making ruffles, with the brand’s signature luxury fabrics taking center stage.

For a more traditional and romantic feel with a unique twist, the bridal gown shapes and silhouettes created by Stephane Rolland will make for an exquisite bridal entrance to any wedding ceremony.

Legacy Brides

The best designers are those who can convey a story through their fashions, and Anne Barge is no exception. The Fall 2025 collection celebrates 25 years of luxury bridal fashion for the American fashion house, and each gown beautifully represents the Anne Barge legacy of timeless elegance, and the ability to seamlessly blend tradition with modern sophistication.

Monique Lhuillier’s Fall 2025 bridal collection is a celebration of tradition as well, honoring heirloom silhouettes and Victorian influences. It’s a gorgeous selection for brides who are drawn to lace wedding gowns or sculpted corsetry.

Eclectic Bohemians

No season would be complete without a collection dedicated to the Bohemian bride. For Fall 2025, Dana Harel’s bridal collection alludes to bohos and artists who flock to the Greek Island of Hydra. With flowing silhouettes and gauzy, peek-a-boo fabrics, these sensual gowns were inspired by the quiet moments right before sunrise.

A Destination Mexico with Breathtaking

March 2, 2024. Zihuatanejo, Mexico

Destination Wedding in Breathtaking Views

McKenna Frenzel and Robert Sieh’s love story began in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, during spring break of their senior year in college. McKenna, attending college in North Dakota, had traveled with a close group of six girlfriends. Robert, attending school in Southern California, was there with six of his college friends. It was one of those fateful moments where paths from two completely different worlds converged.

Robert’s first impression of McKenna was immediate and undeniable. He would later tell her that from that very first moment, he knew they were destined to be together, despite McKenna being unavailable at the time. The energy between them was palpable, but they both left Cabo thinking their story would end there, returning to their separate lives 1,700 miles apart.

Six months after that spring break trip, life brought them together again. McKenna had just moved to Denver, and Robert was visiting the city. What started as a chance meeting turned into a love story that has continued ever since.

A Dream Proposal in Hawaii

When Robert decided to propose three and a half years later, he planned a trip to one of their favorite places: Hawaii. Under the pretense of a helicopter ride to see lava flowing from the island’s volcanoes, Robert crafted an adventure that seemed believable, given their history – their first trip to Hawaii had ended with a dramatic helicopter rescue off a mountain after a hike gone wrong – so McKenna didn’t suspect a thing.

As the helicopter flew over the ocean, instead of hovering over a volcano, it descended toward a secluded cliffside and landed beside a stunning waterfall. It was there where Robert got down on one knee and asked McKenna to marry him. The moment was so magical, McKenna still describes it as a dream when recounting the story to others.

Planning a Destination Wedding in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

From the beginning, McKenna and Robert knew they wanted a destination wedding. As a couple who loves to travel, it made sense to incorporate that passion into one of the biggest days of their lives. Marrying in Mexico came naturally, as it was where their love story had begun almost exactly five years earlier. After researching different locations, they found Zihuatanejo, a picturesque fishing village on Mexico’s Pacific coast. Famous for its stunning beaches and charming atmosphere, Zihuatanejo immediately felt like the perfect spot.

The planning process unfolded seamlessly thanks to having a great local wedding planner. From finding the perfect venue to choosing food, drinks, and entertainment, everything came together with ease. They were able to craft an experience that felt en-

tirely “them” – a celebration that embraced travel, adventure, and the love they share.

Celebrating Love with Family and Friends

Their wedding day was everything McKenna and Robert had dreamed of and more. It was a celebration not just of their love, but of the incredible support system they have in their family and friends. As they stood in front of their loved ones and read the personal vows they had written, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

They made sure to weave as many personal touches as possible into the day. McKenna’s stepfather officiated, Robert’s mom played the piano, McKenna’s cousin and Robert’s sister sang and played piano for their first dance, and Robert’s friend played acoustic guitar during cocktail hour. Each of these moments added another layer of love and meaning to the day, making it even more intimate and special.

The venue, with its breathtaking views, was the perfect setting for their neutral-toned decor, accented with white roses and baby’s breath floral arrangements. They kept the vibe relaxed yet chic, with tequila shots welcoming guests as they arrived, setting the stage for a fun and beautiful evening.

A Reception to Remember

The couple’s reception felt less like a traditional wedding reception and more like a dreamy dinner party. Surrounded by 70 of their closest friends and family, they sat at a long banquet table as the sun set over the bay, painting the sky in vibrant shades of pink and orange. The food was good, the wine flowed freely, and the speeches brought laughter and tears in equal measure.

The highlight of the evening came when they turned the after-party into something truly unique. Four of their DJ friends took turns playing 30-minute sets, creating an epic dance floor that no one wanted to leave. The twinkling lights from the cliffside houses cast a warm glow over the scene, making it feel even more magical. To cap it off, the bride and groom, along with their wedding party, jumped into the infinity pool, marking the end of a night they would cherish forever.

A Honeymoon Around the World

For a pair of globetrotters like McKenna and Robert, an ordinary honeymoon wouldn’t do. Instead, they embarked on a month-long hon-

eymoon that took them around the world. They started in the Maldives, swimming in crystal-clear waters and relaxing in an overwater bungalow. From there, they traveled to Australia for good coffee and amazing beaches before heading to New Zealand’s South Island. There, they pushed their limits with thrilling outdoor adventures (cue Robert making McKenna skydive and hike five miles straight up a cliff).

As they reflect on their whirlwind romance – from that fateful spring break in Cabo to their dreamy wedding in Zihuatanejo and their global honeymoon adventure – McKenna and Robert’s love story reads like a fairy tale. Yet for this adventurous couple, it’s just the beginning of their greatest journey yet: a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

A Private Estate Colpo Di Fulmine in

TRISH PENG AND TIM BEGG

December 8, 2023. Queenstown, New Zealand

Estate Wedding at in New Zealand

When Trish Peng was celebrating her 21st birthday in a room filled with friends and family, she had no idea her future husband would be at that party. Tim Begg was an unfamiliar face at the celebration, but – 12 years later – the two would find themselves getting married during a private estate wedding in New Zealand.

“With my involvement in the world of bridal and Tim’s background in men’s tailoring,” Trish shares, “we crossed paths backstage at New Zealand Fashion Week. However, it wasn’t until nearly a decade after our initial meeting that we made things official, and everything suddenly just fell into place. Since then, we have been inseparable.”

The engagement took place on Christmas Eve, which also happens to be Trish’s birthday. Even though Trish says Tim is “always one to keep me on my toes and is filled with the most thoughtful surprises,” she wasn’t anticipating such a perfect holiday proposal.

“Blindfolded,” she recalls, “I was led to the most dreamy picnic setup, which I initially thought was the sweetest birthday gift. I was soaking in all the beauty surrounding me when Tim suddenly dropped to one knee. Needless to say, it was the easiest ‘yes’ of my life.”

Bridal Couture and Custom Wedding Wear

Since Trish and Tim have the unique advantage of collaborating with brides and grooms on a daily basis, they spent years mentally cataloguing different wedding planning tips. Thanks to their professional experience, the couple enjoyed a relatively easy wedding planning process and collaborated with a fantastic wedding planner. Most importantly, they made sure to never lost focus in terms of what their wedding celebration was truly about.

For the fashion designing bride, however, curating her dream wedding wardrobe was a whole different journey through the world of bridal couture.

“Over the years,” she says, “I had dressed over 1,500 brides, often daydreaming about my own wedding. I had so many ideas, it felt as if every scribble, every sketch, and snippet of inspiration built toward this very moment; and so, I settled on not one but four dresses! For our first look, I chose a fitted beaded gown, then completely changed for the ceremony into a ballgown adorned with our signature 3D flowers. The ceremony dress alone took my expert team of couturiers over 600 hours of craftsmanship – a dress I will forever treasure. I later changed into a chic reception gown, and of course, I needed one of our custom iconic minis to dance the night away in.”

Trish’s bridal couture was beautifully complemented by the groom’s attire, which included two impeccably tailored suits. The bridal party and groomsmen were dressed in bespoke ensembles as well – custom Italian suits for the groomsmen, and custom Trish Peng gowns for the bridesmaids. The bridesmaids dresses were a nod to the very first evening gown Trish designed before finding her calling in bridal.

A Private Estate Wedding at Colpo Di Fulmine

The wedding took place at Colpo Di Fulmine – an exclusive private estate in Queenstown, New Zealand. The property, whose name translates to “love at first sight,” provided the couple with a breathtaking canvas, allowing them to customize every detail while surrounded by the most picturesque backdrop.

Every detail of the wedding day was thoughtfully curated, from the catering to the décor, creating a celebration space that was both personal and magical. Trish and Tim are also the first couple to celebrate their wedding at Colpo Di Fulmine, which made their big day feel even more special.

“As the day unfolded and we got to the speeches,” says the bride, “my dad took us down memory lane with a hilarious speech reminiscent of the one he gave at my 21st birthday.”

“That was a real full-circle moment for us,” the groom adds. “We could never have anticipated what the future held for Trish and me, but I feel like the luckiest guy in the world.”

As the day turned to night, the couple found themselves dancing while surrounded by family and friends.

“It felt surreal to be surrounded by so much love and joy,” says Trish.

Honeymoons and Love Notes

After their whirlwind wedding experience, the newlyweds decompressed by staying in Queenstown for a relaxing mini-moon. That blissful pause was exactly what they needed before diving back into work and peak wedding season.

Shortly after, the couple jetted off for a dream honeymoon in the Maldives, where they enjoyed sunshine, poolside cocktails, and creating new memories together.

“Tim’s love language is giving,” Trish says, “and even now, I find little notes tucked away in unexpected places, on my laptop at work, by the coffee machine at home. Each one is a reminder of his thoughtfulness – a small token of affection that continues to make me smile every day. As we look to the future, I can’t help but feel grateful for the path that led us here. Our journey has been far from ordinary, filled with unexpected twists. And as we embrace what lies ahead, I know that with Tim by my side, every adventure will be worth it.”

A Spectacular Country Club

August 29, 2024. Farmingdale, New Jersey

Country Wedding

Lydia and Solomon first met during a trip in July of 2023. While they were both tasked with caring for orphans and children who came from broken homes, they also had some free time to get to know each other.

“The first moment I laid eyes on him was at a beach club the minute he landed off the plane,” Lydia recalls. “I remember thinking, ‘Wow, what a good-looking man.’”

A Proposal at the Pierre

The couple had a rather unique journey to the chuppah, as their wedding planning process was already in the works by the time the proposal took place. Lydia isn’t the easiest person to surprise, but Solomon successfully orchestrated the perfect engagement with the help of a very special wedding planner.

“He took me on an apartment tour of the UES,” Lydia explains. “Right when we walked into the apartment, I got a call from my wedding planner, aka Aunty Norma. She started by asking me what I was up to and then she continued with, ‘I’m doing a party at the Pierre, I want you to come see it after you are done looking at the apartment. Maybe we can get some ideas for the wedding.’ So we went straight over, and I walked into a [Norma Cohen Productions] proposal. Not only was my aunt doing my wedding – she also planned my proposal and everything in between. It was the most magical day with rose petals, a violinist, my family, and lastly MY FIANCE!”

Zuhair Murad Mariage

When the couple found out they were getting married, which was after about four months of dating, the bride-to-be immediately started the search

for her dream wedding dress. Accompanied by her mother and sister, she visited several boutiques and tried on a plethora of designer gowns including Mark Ingram, Galia Lahav, Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan, Berta, and Oscar de la Renta.

“After two weeks of trying on,” she shares, “we decided to go to a store in Brooklyn called Esti’s where we bought my Zuhair Murad gown. The reason why I loved my gown was because it was a 2 in 1! I had a puffy big dress for the ceremony and a straight, gorgeous gown for the reception.”

A Spectacular Country Club Wedding with Green and White Décor

Having one of New York’s top luxury wedding planners as a family member certainly had its advantages. The couple came up with numerous

ideas during the wedding planning process, and Norma was constantly saying, “This wedding has to be over the top – it’s my brother’s daughter.” And so, it was.

“We started with the invitation,” Lydia shares. “We knew that we were getting married on a golf course, so we decided to make the invitation have gates in the front; but we felt it was a little too much. So, we went back to the invitation place and decided to do a whole garden themed invitation. It came out truly spectacular. I am still obsessed with it to this day. From then on, we knew we wanted a green wedding to keep in theme. I also started a TikTok called @lydiaashleyb during the wedding process, and everyone was loving it. They were so curious how I was planning my wedding before I even got engaged!”

After solidifying their plans for a luxury country club wedding with green and white décor, the bride-to-be decided that she would leave the rest to her aunt. Although Norma would check in with her niece for feedback about details like chairs, chair covers, and the floor, Lydia had no idea what the wedding would look like once it all came together. The couple’s decision to hand over control to Norma Cohen Productions set them up for the most incredible wedding reveal imaginable.

The Wedding Reveal

The wedding day turned out to be everything Lydia and Solomon dreamed of. From the moment they walked into the venue, neither of them could stop smiling.

“When I walked in, the first thing I saw was the ceremony,” says the bride. “I could not believe my

eyes. A giant tree as the chuppah. It was so unique. So different, I never saw anything like it. Next, the dancing room was everything I could dream of. I love music, I love parties, and I wanted my guests to dance the night away. I asked my aunt for that club feel in the reception room. And when I walked in and saw the green crystals hanging from the ceiling, I was in awe. My favorite part was the DJ booth. It was everything I ever wanted. The SOLYD love sign. Solyd means Solomon and Lydia – together, we will have solyd love! That sign is now hanging on top of our bed.”

The day was overwhelming in the best way possible, but Norma ensured the newlyweds were well cared for. Even the little things that couples and planners tend to overlook, like having food available in their rooms before hitting the dance floor, were addressed.

After their wedding celebration winded down, the couple retired to a beautiful suite at their wedding venue, Eagle Oaks Country Club. The next morning, they indulged in some restorative massages – all, arranged for them by Aunty Norma.

Honeymooning in Europe

Lydia and Solomon kicked off their new life together by honeymooning in Europe.

“We traveled through Greece, Italy, and France,” says Lydia. “We lugged our luggage that kept growing to five different hotels! The most memorable part of the honeymoon was traveling the world with my husband. He took me to places I’ve never been in my life, and I was so lucky to experience that together. We tanned, went to beach clubs, shopped, truffle hunted, went to wineries, cooking classes, massages, workouts, and so much more. This was a time that we will never get back but will always cherish for the rest of our lives.”

JAMAICA ---- BE LOVED AND BE LOVED

Photography: Yanic Barrett
Photography:
GRACE ORMONDE
GRACE ORMONDE WEDDING

Of all the Caribbean honeymoon destinations to choose from, one country stands apart for its identity, history, and iconic contributions to global pop culture. As the third-largest island in the Caribbean, Jamaica is rich in everything couples could hope to experience during their honeymoon travels. Friendly smiles and rum punch are presented upon arrival at many luxury resorts. Fine dining and comforting, down-home favorites like jerk chicken and festival (a deep-fried bread) are both available in abundance. Rainforests, mountains, and crystal-clear waters are ready to be explored. Whether newlyweds are looking for adventure, culture, relaxation, or the ultimate combination of all three, a honeymoon in Jamaica allows them to experience one of the world’s most beloved destinations in their own unique way.

Planning a Honeymoon in Jamaica

Jamaica welcomed 4.1 million visitors in 2023, and that number is expected to rise. As its wedding and luxury travel industries have developed, more people are discovering how perfect the island is for destination weddings, honeymoons, and romance

travel in general. Logistically, there are multiple international flight routes available, making Jamaica an easily accessible honeymoon destination. The island also has several different regions to explore, each with its own distinct characteristics, so couples can choose which part of the island suits them best.

One of the most popular cities is Montego Bay, located on the northern coast. Often called “Mo’Bay” for short, Montego Bay is known as “the complete resort area.” Its nickname is self-explanatory, as Mo’Bay truly has it all – from nightlife to luxury resorts, to golf courses, to picturesque beaches. Jamaica’s South Coast, by contrast, is a hub of tranquility and resonates more with honeymooners who want something off the beaten path. Ocho Rios is renowned for its beaches, rainforests, waterfalls, and luxury villas. Negril, however, is the “capital of casual” with soft white sand, turquoise waters, and a seven-mile stretch of beaches that serve as the most exquisite place to enjoy the sunset.

Kingston, Jamaica’s capital, is a cultural hotspot and currently trending among couples who want

to host a traditional-style wedding in a Georgian great house. Once the festivities are over and it’s time to enjoy a honeymoon in Jamaica, newlyweds may wish to venture to Port Antonio for lush rainforests, blue mountains, gorgeous villas, and secluded swimming holes.

5-Star Luxury at Half Moon Jamaica

For honeymooners who choose to center their trip around Montego Bay, Half Moon Jamaica is a 5-star property that has all the style and anticipatory service of a world-class resort, but without the pretense. Half Moon offers a selection of incredible villas and beautifully appointed guest rooms –many, with direct access to the beach – and a vibe that changes significantly with the travel season. During late summer and early autumn, the resort is quiet, and visitors may feel as if they have the entire property to themselves. Once December arrives,

the crowds return and transform Half Moon into a buzzy, lively wedding and honeymoon destination.

After checking in to the resort, couples can plan their honeymoon around Half Moon’s extensive list of activities. Rated as one of the world’s Top 100 Golf Resorts, golf enthusiasts will enjoy teeing off at the Half Moon Golf Course. Equestrians and horse lovers alike can visit the Equestrian Center for a day of polo lessons, horseback riding, or even swimming with horses at beach. There’s also an onsite water sports center that will arrange everything including snorkeling, private scuba diving tours, and sailing adventures.

With environmental and social practices that have been certified by Green Globe, Half Moon was the first hotel to be inducted into the Caribbean Hotel Industry Conference Green Hotel Hall of Fame. As a pioneer of ecological programs and

sea turtle conservation, the resort actively protects any sections of the beach that mother turtles have turned into nesting sites. The endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle is a popular friend of the resort, and lucky honeymooners may find themselves present to watch hatchlings making their way to the sea. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper honeymoon in Jamaica without some quality time at a luxury spa. Half Moon couples will love unwinding at Fern Tree, a Salamander Spa, with its relaxing ambiance and indulgent spa treatments. It’s an absolute treat for the senses, with light essential oils scenting the air, plush robes, endless glasses of spa water, and thoughtfully designed interiors. For an extra romantic spa day, try the “Magic Moments” treatment which includes a coconut oil couples massage and a private soak in the secluded Fern Tree Garden.

GRACE ORMONDE WEDDING STYLE

Jamaican Adventures and Experiences

Jamaica was originally named “Xaymaca” by the indigenous Taíno people, which translates to “The Land of Wood and Water” – a reference to the land’s dense rainforests and flowing river system. Today, visitors can explore the magnificent topography through activities like ATV riding with Chukkah Caribbean Adventures, or touring the Blue Hole Great House for a Jamaican history and cooking lesson followed by a farm-to-table lunch. Honeymooners will especially love spending a leisurely afternoon rafting down the famous Martha Brae River. During the colonial era, the river provided a major transport system for sugar and other crops to be taken from plantations to the Port of Falmouth. Using the same type of bamboo rafts that were built hundreds of years ago, visitors can float down the river, escorted by local experts like Raft Captain Roland. Think of it as Jamaica’s version of the canal rides in Venice, but within a magical setting that looks like a scene from the movie FernGully: The Last Rainforest. Visitors can even jump off the raft for a swim in the pure, drinking water-quality river, or purchase some freshly cut sugar cane while drifting by vendors along the bank.

The Land of One Love

While it may be “The Land of Wood and Water” in name, Jamaica is “The Land of One Love” in spirit. The locals are as diverse as it gets, but one collective sentiment remains clear: the island is for everybody.

Despite being a popular tourist destination, Jamaica’s identity is very much intact. Visitors don’t have to go out of their way to get a true sense of the people and culture, and a large part of Jamaica’s charm is that it remains inherently “Jamaican.” The island has become a beacon for couples who want to celebrate love with new and unique experiences. Yet even with all its visual, culinary, cultural, and adventurous offerings, it’s the genuine, feelgood energy of the people that makes a honeymoon in Jamaica so special.
