Planning a wedding is unlike any other event in life. It starts with an

engagement, ends with a marriage and somewhere in between are all sorts of logistics of head counts, budget meetings, venue visits and countless little adjustments to everything. Brides of Austin was created to solve these problems by matching couples planning with the best wedding vendors in the ATX community so they can plan a stress-free and beautiful celebration. Our entire goal is to bring talented local vendors together in one place collaborating and sharing valuable content for the benefit of couples planning weddings. When we began this journey, “blogging” was just amping up and social didn’t exist, but we continuously focused on developing a userfriendly website and industry-leading blog posts where couples could not only get inspired—they also had direct access to those local creators for their own weddings. Today, our goals remain the same and we continue to lead the way by utilizing the best social channels and interactive formats available to make sure couples have everything they need to enjoy this special time in their life and be proud of the end result, all while helping them pinpoint the best wedding vendors to be found in the Austin wedding community! The groom said he wanted to find a way in our designs

to mark the time and place he married his bride. To do this, the groom created a wedding logo that was a circle or hoop to symbolize eternity, and sketched the star constellations that were visible in the Austin sky the night of their wedding. The logo was projected on their dance floor and stamped on some of their bar glassware, but I especially loved how we subtly included a nod to the eternity circle throughout other parts of their wedding like the bridesmaid bouquet hoops and the bar signage.

right into planning and book a venue or other vendors before really thinking through their budget and design. We take a process oriented approach to design and budget planning that makes you pause to create your big picture plan before getting to far into the booking process. Sometimes those early bookings you make set the tone for your whole budget and design, so it’s important to take some deep breaths and really consider and outline what your wishlist and priorities are for your wedding.

We do it all! My favorite part is being a part of

the design process from beginning to end. We take the brides inspirational images and turn them into a mood board. We create a floral/ decor proposal and mesh their personal style with our aesthetic. Then, the magic happens! All of these beautiful ideas the bride had in the beginning come to life. When Touch of Whimsy isn’t playing a pivotal role in the design process, it is harder to obtain multiple vendors that understand the client’s vision.

We really wanted to play around with mixing hard and

soft for this shoot. We went for a very monochromatic look in everything except the flowers. We actually wanted the table to look almost like a black and white photograph, with the florals serving as the one pop of color. I’m a big fan of not restricting an event to a set number of colors, but rather imagining an entire palette, and exploring the depth in that palette and exploring different textures too. I think we’d describe ourselves as classic with

a contemporary twist. This bride actually studied art history in college. She

that after you come up with your entire event budget, that you sit down and list your top priorities. Do you want the room to look incredible? Do you want your guests to have the best meal of their lives? Do you really just want to make sure everyone spends the maximum amount of time on the dance floor as possible? favorite detail from this shoot had to be all of the greenery that was incorporated. There were no live florals in this shoot, which is not usually common, but the greenery alone added a soft texture that really made everything stand out.

I also love to incorporate laser cut accents or pieces that really give an invitation suite or wedding table setting that extra punch. The design of t his shoot allowed us to elevate t he feel of a classic

wedding using some modern textures and a few whimsical details. The mauve incorporated a pop of color t hat we are anticipating seeing more of for 2019. Color seems to be making more of a comebac k and t he industr y in Austin has been excited! We wanted to keep classic, beautiful wedding elements, while also showcasing some modern touc hes like new seating ideas, dif ferent textures in place settings and printed materials. Smaller details also helped us add creativity and fun to t he shoot. We love when our couples go outside-t he-box and add elements to t heir wedding t hat showcase t heir personalities.

I wanted to juxtapose t he modernity of t he space wit h a bright, fun

color palette. I love how t he full spectrum of color works toget her to create a warm, yet modern vibe. For t he dining table, we warmed up t he Blanton’s famous blue wall wit h a ric h velvet linen and loads of fluf fy florals in shades of pink. To of fset t he ‘frillier ’ pieces, we kept t he rest of t he design understated (but still lovely)! The menus and place cards (wit h hand-painted brushstrokes) added one f inal pop of color and fun to t he table and tied ever yt hing toget her.

We wanted to showcase the first ingredients of the spring, and English peas are one of the first things out. I love setting the brininess of calamari against these delicate spring flavors and textures. We knew it would create a great cohesive color palette and dimensional texture.

“As we turned to depart the altar, a choir entered the choir loft while singing “Love, Love, Love” and Jimmy began to sing, “All You Need is Love” by The Beatles.
