Cook County Homeland Security operations head starts Sept. 1 By BOB UPHUES Editor

North Riverside Mayor Hubert Hermanek Jr. announced on Aug. 27 that he’s hired a new permanent fire chief, following heated criticism both online and in person at last week’s village board meeting regarding his choice for interim chief. John Kiser, who for the past two years has served as chief of operations for the Cook County Department of Homeland Security, will start in his new post on Sept. 1. for a new facility to be built on libraryowned land at 3541 Park Ave., with the site of the present library slated to be converted into a parking lot. The concept was one of the two so-called
