The Qalbish by Inqalaab Salon recently opened its doors in Defence Lahore, offering a variety of Ayurvedic treatments designed to combat all kinds of skin, hair and cosmetic issues! Using only the finest organic natural ingredients, and under the guidance of two highly qualified and experienced Ayurvedic practitioners this spa is unlike any other in the city. So whether you are combating acne, pigmentation, premature aging, hair fall, symptoms related to high stress or any other cosmetic concerns, this is a great place to address your issues naturally!

Abhyanga (4 handed body massage – 55 minutes) PKR 3000

NOVEMBER 11, 2018 | 44

A traditional Ayurvedic treatment by two skilled practitioners – this massage is rhythmic and utilizes firm strokes and dosha (disposition) specific warm herb infused oils. Head over for this massage if you want to relieve muscle tension, aches & pains or stress! The oils chosen are specific for treating individual concerns so there is a strong medicinal element to this massage.

PKR 1000 In this treatment herbal ayurvedic oil blends are poured in a rhythmic stream onto your forehead. While to modern beauty enthusiasts this may seem like a strange and pointless exercise, there are many clinical studies which show that this has helped relieve complaints as varied as premature graying of hair, memory loss, eczema & psoriasis, insomnia as well as a variety of skin issues. All we can say is that the treatment was incredibly relaxing and our hair somehow went back to being how it was in our teens! Sign us up to go again!

Shirudhara (Oil pouring on the head – 20 minutes)

Ayurvedic Facial PKR 2500 Facials are all the rage with skincare enthusiasts. Whether you want to slow the hands of time, get glowing bouncy skin, stop those stubborn zits from making an appearance or deal with pigmentation and uneven skin tone – the ayurvedic facial has a solution for you! The best part is that you know there are no unnecessary chemicals or additives being put on your face which will do more long term harm than good!

Punchkarma Treatment (Five treatments – Abhyanga, Shirudhara, Nasyam, Karnapurna, Herbal Steam Bath)

Incorporating five separate treatments at a heavily discounted package rate, this is definitely the treatment bundle to opt for if you have time to spare and want a true relaxation experience! The first two treatments are detailed above. Nasyam is where medicated oil or powder are poured into the nostrils (not at all as scary as it sounds) to clear the sinuses thereby relieving headaches, congestion and many head related problems. Karnapurna is warm oil therapy for the ears and the herbal steam package is probably one of our favourite treatments of the bunch!

Saleha Khan Artist

@salehakhan12

What does the word art mean to you?

To me art is chaos channeled the right way.

What is your work influenced by?

It’s influenced by reality. That nothing is permanent and how we can always feel the presence of the ones who leave (temporarily or permanently) I paint spaces and feelings that are the outcome of this empty space left behind by humans.

What mediums do you work with?

NOVEMBER 11, 2018 | 56

I work mainly with oil paints. But I really want to do miniature in the future.

I’ve always wanted to be an artist and always valued my work whether anyone appreciated it or not. I like keeping everything I draw, art work that I made when I was in grade 2, I still have it. I remember when I created it and what it felt like.

weekend | Fashion

What was the very first piece you created?

Is there anyone or anywhere in particular you would like to create a piece for ? If I know I have to

NOVEMBER 11, 2018 | 57

paint keeping in mind someone in particular, it gives me anxiety. I want to create art in a jungle with raw materials just to challenge myself. I think it’ll be an interesting adventure.

weekend | Fashion

If your pieces were a person how would you describe them?

I think they alteady have a character as that’s what I paint. I paint people, its just that it’s not their body but their presence.

Name a few artists who inspire you Edward Hopper and Rene Magritte

What themes, symbols or motifs do you generally tend to explore through your art?

As I work and explore the presence of humans around me I tend to paint a lot of drapery, clothes etc. I feel that your clothes are the closest to your body after your skin and they show the character of a person. But the motifs vary, sometimes it can be a pet or some object closely connected to a particular person.

In what way do you think your work impacts you and society? I think my work would make someone feel their surroundings more and notice little details; like the pattern on someone’s shirt can reveal so much about their personality. The idea is to be more aware of other people and their presence.

What is your ultimate goal as an artist?

NOVEMBER 11, 2018 | 58

Where does art in Pakistan stand today and in what way do you think it should evolve?

I think art has a long way to go in Pakistan. There’s so much happening in the world of art and we are still struggling with freedom of expression, acceptance and recognition. I think it will take time for our masses to recognise the value of art and artists in a community.

I don’t have an ultimate goal. My goals change on a day to day basis. But I do know that I do not want to stop painting.
