Casa Bianca It is said that normal people ‘’eat to live but as a Lahori I am proud to say we live to eat’’. As a foodie, who drives around M.M Alam Road Lahore every second day, looking for something new, something different and something that gives a new feel to my taste buds, I got tired of trying the same old restaurants and cafes. This compelled me to stop at this place called Casa Bianca, hidden behind Beaconhouse Liberty, illuminating the sky with its bright lights and an attractive white building. From the outside, it seems as one of those lavish restaurants where you go once a month because of the toll they take on your pocket and you walk out thinking, ‘Well we could’ve had a
better experience for the same amount of money spent.’ However, I can safely say that the experience at Casa Bianca would be completely opposite and would force you to walk in again and again and again…. The first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is what to eat. Well, this article precisely aims to help you with that but even before you order
anything, you are served with cracking papadums alongside pineapple sweet chilli sauce which serves as the first hint regarding the journey you are about to embark. The easiest way is to start off with a serving of Wasabi prawns which are definitely addictive and one of the best you’d eat in Lahore. Crispy jumbo prawns fried to perfection and topped with the signature Wasabi
sauce served on top of ice-cold fresh salad. The combination of hot Japanese Wasabi sauce and ice-cold salad is just to die for. Hold on just here, as I do understand that not everyone likes to have prawns and shrimps. That’s where Casa stands out. You can try their Honey Mustard Chicken Wings with the sweet and tangy kick and served with honey-mustard sauce or the Tempura Platter which is a variety of seafood and vegetables fried in homemade tempura sauce. If still this doesn’t fulfil your craving for starters, they claim to serve the best Cream of Mushroom Soup, a rich creamy broth heavily infused with assortments of seasonal mushrooms. Once done with the starters Casa offers an array of main course dishes but one thing that you should definitely try out is the Chicken Florentine which is perfectly grilled chicken filled with spicy spinach and topped with the finest mozzarella cheese served with grilled vegetables and mashed potato. Casa Bianca’s thin crust pizza is a definite try, simple yet sumptuous and delicious to taste. If you’re not a cheese lover you can try their signature steaks served in both Chicken and Beef with a variety of toppings including black pepper, Bar BQand mushroom sauces. Burger lovers can try out Wild Wild West, a fusion of grilled beef patty and turkey bacon while sandwich lovers will definitely fall in love with the taste of Lahore by trying out the Lahori Club Sandwich. To top your main course off you just have to try out their wide range of desserts, drinks and smoothies. Their speciality is the thin crust Nutella Pizza topped with M&M’s. I need not say more for this because you got to try it to feel it and if pizza is too heavy after a meal then you can end your day with a variety of brownies or choose from 16 flavours of ice cream that they serve. To sum up, Casa Bianca is a perfect fusion of Italian, Spanish and Continental cuisines and you would definitely get to taste things that would be hard to forget in a comfortable and soothing ambience. Bon Appetit!!! Where they serve quality with a touch of class.

ina Raja is Beautician Amguru for bridals and go-to makeup g. Known for her occasion styliny eyes and glowing, stunning smokmaestro reveals her top dewy skin, thefoundation. s tips for flawles Know Thy Skin Assess the PH balance of your skin; if it’s oily then prep your skin using a non-alcoholic astringent. If your skin is on the dry side then moisturize well with a hydrating cream before you start your makeup.
Prepare to Prime Always prepare the skin with a primer before applying base. Make sure that the primer is not transparent, instead opt for a light reflecting primer or a colour corrector. Estée Lauder’s Spot Light is my go-to product for regular use!
Cover it Up
If using a liquid foundation dab it on with a brush. Don’t forget to cover your neck as well! Another often over-looked area is the hairline. I recommend using MAC’s no. 130 round brush for pushing in the foundation!
october 04, 2015 | 52
Blend Till You Drop Take a Beauty Blender (the shocking pink, egg shaped sponge) and blend in your foundation. Use the curved end to pat the foundation into your skin for a seamless finish and use the pointed tip to access hard to reach areas like the corners of your nose. The more you blend the better your foundation will look.
Cut it with Contours
Contour with a crème contouring kit if your skin is dry and opt for powder contouring only if your skin is very oily. The trick again is to blend, blend, blend!
weekend | Beauty
My Friend, the Concealer Use an orange toned colour corrector under your eyes to neutralize any dark circles and then follow it up with a concealer. Ladies, please use a concealer that matches your skin-tone instead of opting for shades that are too light. Also, remember to blend the concealer on top of your lids as well for an even tone. You can apply the concealer with the pad of your ring finger or use the mini Beauty Blenders.
Shine Bright Strobing, contouring’s fuss free cousin depends on using only highlights to sculpt your face. Apply a dot of highlight in the centre of your forehead, along the bridge of your nose, above your lips on the cupid’s bow, centre of your chin and along your cheek bones. Blend (you guessed it!) well till your skin looks like its lit-from-within.

Amman, Petra & the Dead Sea

weekend | travel eyes for centuries. It was also how ancient traders first entered Petra, an approach to impress visitors with the wealth and power of the city. Walking through the Siq, one marvels at the sensation of splendid isolation, as many traders would have done several centuries ago. The first glimpse every visitor has of the city is the famous Treasury building, highlighted in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Standing dwarfed beneath the Treasury one realizes that nothing prepares you for this awe-inspiring sight. It is an astonishing building carved completely out of stone and built possibly as early as 315 B.C. However, Petra is a lot more than just one building, we toured the numerous temples and a coliseum and then began an ambitious vertical trek to the hilltop Monastery, another one of Petra's iconic structures. The final leg of our trip was the Dead Sea; about two and half hours drive from Petra. Choosing to take the Kings Highway, over its more modern counterpart, with winding roads and breathtaking views we arrived at the five-star Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea, a unique resort boasting incredible spa facilities and rich decor. This five-star sanctuary sits at the lowest point on Earth at 400m below sea level, on the shores of the world's saltiest places - the Dead Sea. For centuries people have been flocking to the Dead Sea, drawn by the medicinal qualities of its mineralrich waters. The waters are also disconcertingly beautiful, with crystalline formations on the shoreline surrounded by unforgiving cliffs. Swimming in the Dead Sea is an unparalleled experience, with its unique sensation of weightlessness; it is hard to describe the sensation of wading out into the sea and then suddenly floating, sitting, not sinking. Nothing would do it justice. There were squeals of laughter and disbelief, and the other tourists looked on with amusement, probably recalling their identical reactions the day before. While, all you need to do for an outdoor spa experience is to slather

sienna and sandstone land – full of biblical stories and epic adventures with some of the most dramatic scenery in the world - Jordan is a place of timeless beauty with a kaleidoscope of sights dating back to two millennia. From shifting desert sands to Byzantine mosaics, the incredible lost city of Petra to the salty Dead Sea waters; this is a destination that offers a unique travel experience. Landing in Amman, a capital city sprawled over seven hills, you realize that this is no ordinary terrain with its bustling downtown market streets and ancient ruins. We conquered the highlights of Amman in less than a day by car. For great views of the city and the Roman amphitheater; walk through thousands of years of history and layers of civilizations up the crumbling steps to the serene Citadel which sits high on a hill above Amman. To contextualize the history of Jordan, there is an archeological museum on the site that has artifacts dating back centuries; more notably; fragments of the controversial Dead Sea Scrolls. We then head out for Petra; roughly a three-hour drive from Amman. The journey is strewed with numerous revered holy sites, such as the Madabah, known for its famous Byzantine mosaics, Mount Nebo, where Moses was shown the Promised Land, Lot’s cave Elijah’s Hill and Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan where Jesus is believed to have been baptized. Meanwhile don’t forget to stop for local cardamom coffee and Knafeh, a traditional sweet made of cheese and sugary syrup. Arriving in the dramatic, carved city of Petra just in time for the last night tour, which enabled us to first experience this spectacular heritage site basked only in candlelight, was a truly magical experience. It isn’t hard to see why Petra is listed as a Wonder of the World. Exploring this extensive rose-colored rock city is an experience you will always remember. It starts with a walk through the atmospheric Siq, a kilometer long slot canyon that shielded the city from prying
