Extended Weekend Getaways
Up Close:
From the Editor

The burgeoning phenomenon, Travel Tuesday, is a lot like Black Friday - the post-Thankgsiving bonanza that sees retailers offer special one-day deals and discounts. However, instead of flat-screen TVs and other electronics, this bargain binge addresses airline flights, cruises, hotels, and other travel-inspired gifts. I say we should give our loved ones a better way to explore wellness, sustainability, culinary adventures and just plain much-needed weekend getaways. Try using destination ideas from this issue.
For Wellness Wanderers
Wellness travel continues to grow as more people seek out experiences that restore both mind and body. How about a gift certificate to a luxury spa or massage? (See P. 6.)
For Sustainability
Sustainable travel is a way of traveling that considers the environmental, economic, and social impacts of tourism. See the Soul of Macon, (P.24) or Schnepf Farms, (P. 41).
For Culinary Enthusiasts
For foodies in your life, give the gift of hands-on culinary experiences, a cookbook, dinner out or both. (See P. 12)
For Purposeful Adventurers
There are so many choices!. There is St. Augustine (P.23) Louisville (P32) and Chicago (P62) Anywhere across Idaho (P.45) Actually, ALL of this month’s articles fit this category. Read all...
For Luxury Escapists
How about a brand new hotel in Las Vegas for the high-rollers? (P.16)
And For The Road-Trippers
If your loved ones dream of simple getaways as long as they see something new and interesting, a road trip is the best choice. It’s easy to just slow down and take the scenery as it comes. See the Holiday Gems Trail (P.50), Rt 6 across PA (P. 54).

They’re all so meaningful, ways to bring joy and connection to those we hold dear. This Travel Tuesday, let’s celebrate the gift of travel—because the best memories are made on the journey.
Have a Very Merry Christmas and Happy Travels
