Dolly Parton at Night

Today we’re bringing you news from our client in Tennessee, Dollywood. Ordinarily at this time of year, we’d be telling you about all the fun that’s happening at the special theme park in the Smoky Mountains. Someday soon we’ll get to do that again, but we think now is a great time to talk about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Starting tonight, Dolly Parton herself will read a specially selected book at 7 p.m. EDT every Thursday night. For the next 10 weeks, “Goodnight with Dolly” will feature Dolly snuggled in bed with that week’s Imagination Library book, which she’ll read in her own signature style.

You can be a part of the “Goodnight” program via any of the social channels for The Imagination Library, Dolly Parton’s personal sites, the World Choice Investments family of attractions, and The Dollywood Company. This is Dolly’s personal gift to all families around the world, and her hope is that everyone will be inspired by her message to pass on love and keep hope alive as we all work together during this trying time. For ease, here’s a link to Dollywood’s Facebook page. If you don’t know about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, you may

and currently sends books to about 1.5 million children around the world every month. We encourage you to get into your PJ’s and join Dolly’s many fans across the globe as she launches “Goodnight with Dolly” at 7 p.m. EDT tonight.

have missed the most fascinating part of the entertainment icon’s story. You know her music, movies and television shows, and we hope through us you’ve learned more about her theme park. But the Imagination Library has introduced Dolly to a whole new generation of fans, kids who just know her as “The Book Lady.” Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library started as a gift for the children in Dolly’s hometown, Sevierville, Tennessee, and is now active in all 50 states and five countries. She created it as a tribute to her father; she says he was the smartest man she’s ever known, but she believes his inability to read prevented him from fulfilling all his dreams. Dolly wanted to give all children the gift of books and instill in them a love of reading and learning from the earliest age. Before he passed away, Dolly’s father told her that The Imagination Library was the most important thing she’d ever done. Here at MBPR, we agree. The non-profit organization has gifted more than 135 million books to children since its inception in 1995

Oh ... for those of you who were hoping to hear about Dollywood and who are really jonesing for a roller coaster ride, we’re going to give you the next best thing: point-of-view footage from Lightning Rod, a coaster themed after a 1950s-era hot rod. It launches riders from 0 to 45 mph in just a few seconds and reaches a top speed of 73 mph, which makes it the fastest wooden roller coaster anywhere in the world. Are you strapped into your desk chair? If so, click here. Finally, we want to share this: We hope to welcome you (back) to Pigeon Forge in the near future. If you come see us there, you’ll likely stay at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort & Spa. All along the hallways and in the elevator banks, you’ll find posters with “Dolly-isms” on them – her words of wisdom that somehow make everything feel a little better. Today we’ll leave you with a Dolly-ism that seems especially appropriate in these times: The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

What have YOU been doing the past few weeks to avoid boredom while social distancing from friends, neighbos and loved ones? This issue has some new ideas to share.

Up Close: From the Editor

For a while now, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has disrupted our everyday activities. During this time, the staff at BarnettPRO encourages you to do what you can to stay safe and healthy by employing the CDC’s recommendations that include social distancing and eliminating non-essential travel. We also encourage you to help your neighbors and family and friends in ways that are safe for both you and them. The travel ban is having dramatic consequences for all the people behind the tourism industry. Our request to all those who have planned a trip: Continue dreaming about your extended weekend getaways and plan it for the time after the Corona crisis. We all know that now is not the right time to travel – staying at home is the best thing we can all do right now. However, we are optimistic that the right time will return in the foreseeable future. Even if no-one can really predict when that will be, postponing your booking is far better than simply canceling it. This is how you can continue to support livelihoods. Companies can continue to pay their employees and you can look forward to your planned vacation. It may be tempting to spend all this newfound time at home glued to our televisions and apps, but that constant stream of information is keeping us from subconsciously processing and unpacking our stress. In turn, it’s stopping us from being able to fully settle. 1. Have a picnic in the living room or in the yard and tell stories. 2. Go outside and observe the night sky without the city lights. 3. Have a treasure hunt indoors or outdoors using flashlights. 4. Perform a relaxing exercise routine by candlelight. Total toy sales in the U.S. grew by 26% in the week ending March 21, with the fastest-growing categories being games/puzzles (+228%), driven by family board/action, card, and children’s games; building sets (+76%); and arts and crafts (+70%), primarily craft kits and reusable compounds. With warmer weather emerging, sales of outdoor and sports toys have grown by 20%. We promise we will continue to serve you wit ideas on places to go, things to do and people to see as we ave done since the start. This month we are sharing the many new virtual video listings we’ve found to assist you with making your future travel plans. Until next month,

Cooking With a Purpose I clip coupons. I really do. I’m not ashamed to admit it. My plan for these money savers is rather simple: I intend to use them. I really, really do. However, all too often I find myself at the store without them. Sometimes as I sort through my supply, I find a coupon for an item I use frequently. Yay! That is, if it isn’t expired because I forgot to use it. What’s really annoying is to find a high amount coupon for some rather expensive item. Why is this frustrating? I usually find it the day after I just purchased the product. Grrr! Still, I don’t get discouraged from clipping. Saving money is always a good thing. Besides, if a product can be purchased at a discounted price, it might as well be purchased by me. I have a co-worker who also does coupon clipping. Whenever either of us find a coupon we don’t intend to use, it gets passed on to someone who can benefit from the savings. The sources are sometimes amusing. Most are from newspapers or magazines. Occasionally they are nice, neatly trimmed promo coupons available for anyone to pick up from store displays or places such as breakroom counters. When we find those, we always snag a few extras to share with others. After all, that was the purpose of making them available. Last week, I was browsing through the pre-Easter grocery coupon newspaper insert. There was a lot of spring colored candy, even more Easter basket goodies and an assortment of traditional Easter Sunday dinner menu items. That made me think; what am I planning to do for Easter this year? Help! I need inspiration! Then I found it. The insight I need-

WAFFLE CASSEROLE 8-10 frozen waffles (such as Eggo) 1 lb. sausage, cooked and drained 1 1/4 c. shredded cheddar cheese, divided 8 eggs 1 c. milk 1 Tablespoon dry mustard, salt and pepper, to taste

ed was right in front of me – in the form of a coupon. Or rather, a recipe on the back of the magazine page which was the delivery system for the money saving gem. As a bonus, this dish has nothing whatsoever to do with Easter dinner which will ultimately end up being the traditional menu my family expects and wants anyway. Instead, it is a particularly good idea for an Easter breakfast. Making it the night before will ensure you can be available to participate in all the daybreak activities. You will have time to watch the early morning egg hunt, get the little ones decked out in their new outfits for church services and have a healthy meal so they won’t overload on sugar from nibbling on their chocolate bunny ears. I am constantly on the lookout for recipes which are simple to make and easy to adjust for a small family or large crowd. Another perk is the ability to transport without difficulty when needed. Above all, meal ideas should be easy to adapt to your individual taste. Good news: this one has it all. The original recipe for this has been around for years, but this version has a twist to it which makes it extra delicious.

Layer half the toasted waffles, chopped or torn into pieces, into a sprayed casserole dish or pan. Top with ½ of the sausage and ½ c. shredded cheddar cheese. Repeat for a second layer. Mix together eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt and pepper. Pour this over ingredients in casserole dish. Cover with foil and chill overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Loosen foil and bake 40 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle top with remaining ¼ c. cheese and bake 10-15 minutes or until eggs are completely set. Serve with maple syrup. As always, bacon or ham can be substituted for the sausage or try a combination. Even though the recipe calls for cheddar, you may select your favorite type of cheese or cheese blend. Be creative and add chopped onions, peppers, tomatoes and/or mushrooms. To add extra bulk and make it stretch farther, add frozen chunk hash browns. In my next batch, I plan to use a mixture of leftover French toast and homemade waffles along with the frozen ones. Don’t forget, the original version used plain bread which made this a great way to use up all those heels which accumulate in the bottom of the bread bag. Of course, that means I have nothing on hand to use for a sandwich in my lunch tomorrow. It’s a good thing I have a coupon for bread. April, 2020 ~ WEEKENDEREXTENDED.COM | -7-

Virtual Alaska

There’s one thing we know for sure right now; we could all use an escape from today’s reality. Many of us are seeking a literal escape from self-quarantines in our homes. While breaking out isn’t possible for most just yet, Alaska can still deliver a breath of fresh air to us at home via webcams and social media. Check out the wide-open spaces of Alaska’s national parks, learn about our wildlife, tour some of our cultural museums and more right from your couch. We admit, it’s not quite the same as being here in person, but a daily dose of nature and wildlife cuteness is a pretty strong lifeline these days. We highly recommend starting in Katmai National Park and Preserve. Millions of people log on religiously to watch the brown bears that call this park home catch fish and bathe in the Brooks River each summer. Sure, those bears are hibernating right now, but that doesn’t make these 25 minutes of bear footage any less captivating. Can’t get enough? Watch Pacific walrus haul out on this beach on Round Island here. (There’s zero social distancing go on; don’t be jealous.) Spy on this Arctic Snowy Owl in Utqiagvik (formerly known as Barrow) as it feeds its young, plays and preens. Or opt for the peace and tranquility of the changing skies over Dumpling Mountain

back in Katmai National Park. We could sit up there for hours looking out over the alpine tundra and lake. If you’re ready for a little more adventure (this is Alaska, isn’t it?), follow this park ranger into a crevasse in Exit Glacier at Kenai Fjords National Park. Or visit Southeast Alaska’s coastline, hiking trails and even a totem pole with these 360-degree panoramas. The Alaska SeaLife Center is offering virtual tours with its seals, sea lions, eels, seabirds, salmon and more on Facebook and YouTube. The Alaska Zoo’s staff is sharing up-close experiences with its polar bears, porcupines, wolves and other animals on Facebook. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center captures its animals (bears, bison, musk ox) in all their cuteness over on Instagram. And you can meet bald eagles, owls and other large birds at the Alaska Raptor Center’s Facebook page as they livestream avian releases and check in on raptors in residence. While we can’t travel to the places we’d rather be right now, these virtual escapes can sure help transport us ever so briefly.

See Nature Come Alive

From its upland forests to its coastal waterways, Delaware encompasses incredibly diverse wildlife habitats, making it possible for visitors to enjoy Northern Delaware’s wooded hills in the morning, and be immersed in a seaside setting by the afternoon. Thanks to its strategically ideal location along major waterways in the heart of the Mid-Atlantic region, Delaware is not only a convenient and picturesque destination for millions of East Coast travelers, it is revered around the world as a center for watching the thousands of rare songbirds, shorebirds and raptors that live in and migrate through the Delmarva Peninsula. These Outdoor Trail sites give nature-lovers convenient access to some prime viewing spots, and would be ideal for an extended exploration:

DAY Get things going with one of the best breakfasts around at Lucky’s Coffee Shop north of Wilmington. Then start your adventure amid the wooded calm of Northern Delaware’s rolling piedmont, at one of its most popular outdoor destinations, Ashland Nature Center. Self-guided trails take hikers through a variety of habitats, ranging from marsh to stream, and the popular Hawk Watch Hill gives a rare glimpse of these spectacular birds of prey. Others will enjoy the seasonal Butterfly House, or meeting live turtles, frogs, crayfish, and other creatures. Next it’s over to Delaware’s river coast, stopping for a lunch of the state’s favorite crustacean at Kathy’s Crab House in Delaware City. Nearby, you’ll find a pleasant post-meal

excursion at Fort DuPont State Park, a former military base that’s now open for exploration. The park’s Port Penn Trail takes visitors across the tidal marsh of the Augustine Wildlife Area, where hikers can enjoy marsh vistas and many birding opportunities. Interpretative exhibits recall days when fishing and trapping where ways of life in the area. Just to the south lies a place that people come from around the world to see -- Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, recognized as one of America’s Top 100 “Important Birding Areas” by the American Bird Conservancy. DAY 2 Get the day started in true local fashion, with breakfast at the Smyrna Diner, before heading south and making a stop near Dover. Located on the north shore of the St. Jones River, the St. Jones Reserve features a two-mile nature trail, with a quarter-mile boardwalk over the salt marsh that joins up with the adjacent Ted Harvey Wildlife Management Area. DAY 3 Your morning strategy session can commence at Milford’s Dolce Bakery and Coffee Shop, before you head off to Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, known for excellent year-round birding. Prime Hook is the place to witness thousands upon thousands of snow geese, and marvel as they all take flight simultaneously whenever a bald eagle approaches. “It’s like a whiteout,” one observer says. The refuge includes a variety of trails for hiking and observation. There are also canoe trails through Prime Hook Creek, and a photography blind on a trail off of the Black Farm Trail. Head to the inland region of Sussex County next, pausing for lunch at the historic Brick Hotel on the Circle, a restaurant and tavern in Georgetown that’s a local favorite. Now it’s time for an exploration of the Nanticoke Wildlife Area, where trails and large tracts of forest along the Nanticoke River and Broad Creek make this 4,400-acre wilderness a popular birding destination. Experts recommend the wooded areas along Chapel Branch, the Woodland Ferry area, and the woods surrounding the boat ramp at Phillips Landing. Also check out the monument dedicated to Captain John Smith, located at Phillips Landing, commemorating the arrival of colonists to the Chesapeake Bay and Broad Creek in 1608. Dinner will have an edge of sophistication and French charm at Bon Appétit restaurant in Seaford, leaving you ready to yield to the night at the nearby Holiday Inn Express. To go with that, both the elk and bison herds have been used to help repopulate these species into areas like the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina, and reintroduce these animals into environments where they once roamed. From May through June, the bison and elk calves are born, giving visitors the opportunity to photograph these young animals. Look for bison calves near their mothers. Sunday Jazz Brunch

Mr. B’s Bistro offers contemporary Creole cuisine in the heart of the French Quarter. NEW ORLEANS – Mr. B’s Bistro is situated on one of the most high-traffic corners in the French Quarter. Chef Michelle McRaney has directed the kitchen for more than 20 years. Known for it’s Creole quisine with a focus on fresh regional products, the offerings remain innovative, appealing equally to locals and out-of-town visitors.

Partitions of dark wood and etched glass as well as lacy café curtains serve as the backdrop for green vinyl banquettes lining the walls. Gentle sounds are enjoyed from a centrally situated grand piano, and the service staff displays ample bustle and bravado. The large grill fueled with aromatic woods produces well-prepared fish, shellfish and meats that are imaginatively matched with unusual vegetables. Spicy, New Orleans-style barbecued shrimp is a good bet, as are the fish beignets and pasta jambalaya. Super-thick gumbo ya-ya of chicken and sausage carries hearty flavors. Bountiful desserts are hard to resist: hot buttered pecan pie; three berry cobbler; a molten

chocolate cupcake with fresh raspberries. The Sunday jazz brunch, served from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., presents such dishes as blackened Gulf fish with lump crab meat, Jumbo lump crabcake, eggs benedict, and deep-fried coconut beer shrimp. The wine list, several pages long, probably has something for almost everyone, but you will be hard pressed to find anything from outside of California, except for Champagne. About 20 different wines are offered by the glass. Dress is casual. Reservations are a must, especially during holiday schedules. For more on Louisiana, >CLICK HERE!

Giardina’s, one of the Mississippi Delta’s most historic restaurants, was founded in 1936 by Joseph Giardina. A unique blend of sophistication and warmth, Giardina’s is the perfect setting for any event. Featuring steaks, seafood and Italian cuisine, Giardina’s atmosphere is old world elegant but dress is laid-back “Delta casual.” Cross the sleek threshold of The Alluvian, and enter a realm with a nouveau-chic ambiance normally reserved for world cities. Created by world renowned architects and designers, this boutique hotel has claimed iconic status with its modern design. The Alluvian is an alluring alternative to the ordinary.

Whether you’re traveling the “Blues Highway” in search of the spirits of the early blues legends or just seeking to escape from the hustle and bustle of the modern world for a bit of serenity, Tallahatchie Flats’ old-time farm houses have what you need. Located on the banks of the Tallahatchie River on a Delta cotton plantation, these two to four-room dwellings are preserved examples of the small rural homes that once dotted the Delta countryside where so many great blues artists were born and raised and wandered. Visit Webster’s Food & Drink, where the locals go to hear live music with great food and plenty of libations to whet your whistle after a trek across the Delta flatlands. Take a tour of Robert Johnson’s three graves. Legend claims Johnson sold his soul to the Devil at the crossroads of Highways 61 and 49 so he could play the Delta blues. Supposedly poisoned by a jealous husband at a juke joint at Three Forks where Highways 82 and 49E intersect, Johnson was taken to a shotgun house at the Star of the West Plantation north of Greenwood, where he lingered for several days before dying on August 16, 1938, at the age of 27. Johnson’s death and burial created a mystery almost as great as his talent’s sudden appearance. His death certificate says Johnson is buried at Zion Church — but which one?

This post was written by the staff of Visit Mississippi and highlights some of our favorite destinations. To learn about other top Greenwood visitor attractions and to plan your trip, see www.visitgreenwood.com.

Missouri Caves

Lake of the Ozarks, MO - With over 7,400 registered caves around the state, including 20 “show caves,” Missouri has certainly earned its nickname as “the cave state.” Home to over 300 wild caves and four of the state’s 20 show caves, Central Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks is considered to be a must-visit for any travelers interested in viewing the state’s fascinating underground beauty and its intriguing geological history. The Lake of the Ozarks is home to four unique show caves. The Lake’s “show” caves are wild caves that feature paved walkways, bridges, hand rails and lights that have been installed for the convenience of viewing nature’s subterranean sights safely and with little effort, making them perfect for casual adventurers of any skill of fitness levels. No special clothing or equipment is needed to tour the caves, though warm clothing is recommended as the temperatures inside the caves are 50-60 degrees no matter the season. Three of the Lake’s four show caves are open for tours year-round.

Bridal Cave

Camdenton, has a history steeped in Native American lore, including the legendary wedding which is the inspiration for the cave’s name. The highlight of this show cave is the stalactite adorned Bridal Chapel, where over 3,775 couples from around the world have exchanged or renewed their vows, inspiring Glamour magazine to name Bridal Cave as one of the top-10 “craziest, most-awesome places to get married.” In addition to the chapel, Bridal Cave features massive columns, stalagmites, large draperies, a lake that seemingly formed out of nowhere and the most onyx formations of any known cave or cavern. Guided tours are available year-round. And, special hand-held lantern tours are available on Saturday evenings during the summer season. The first commercialized cave in the area, Jacob’s Cave opened for tourists in 1932. Being the largest cave in the Lake area, tourists will see many different formations including massive columns and stalactites, millions of “soda straws,” delicate helictites and others along the mile-long tour. Jacob’s Cave is the only walkthrough cave in Missouri that is completely accessible to persons with disabilities. Tours are offered year-round. Lake of the Ozarks State Park - The most rustic cave in the area is Ozark Caverns, located in Lake of the Ozarks State Park near Linn Creek. Ozark Caverns, which is owned and operated by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, does not feature any “show” lighting, instead tours are conducted by hand-held lanterns. This cave’s claim to fame is a large, impressive “Angel Shower,” one of only fourteen in the world and the only one in the U.S. available for public viewing. An angel shower is an unusual cave phenomenon made up of a “bathtub” formation beneath a never-ending shower of water that seems to come out of a solid rock ceiling. Tours of Ozark Caverns are offered seasonally, from midMay through mid-September. Complete details for Ozark Caverns, its tour schedule and admissions prices, can be found by going to TinyURL.com/ OzarkCaverns.

Stark Caverns

Daily tours take guests on a journey through the ages with views of

impressive formations, waterways and ancient bear beds. Another available tour option includes a Black Light Tour where visitors learn about the science of fluorescent minerals and experience a wide spectrum of colors. In addition to their tours, Stark Caverns also has a number of special events throughout the year, including wine and beer tours, movies and music in the cave as well as vendor shows. Unique to Stark Caverns is its Cave Escape Adventure, where groups work together to discover clues and solve puzzles to beat the clock in an “escape room” experience. Stark Caverns

is 85% wheelchair accessible and open daily year-round. Learn more about Stark Caverns, its tour options, special events and pricing at www.StarkCaverns.com. Run The Race COLUMBUS – USA Race Timing and Event Management, a local race timing small business, has a solution for your cabin fever. There is an added bonus of helping fulfill the increased need of Ohio’s foodbanks during the current unemployment surge due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ohio Strong Virtual Races will take place through May 31. The races offer individuals of all ages and abilities the opportunity to be active and help support Ohio’s 12 regional foodbanks that provide food and other resources to those in need. A single dollar can help with four meals for those in need during this unexpected time. The Ohio Association of Foodbanks distributed 191.3 million meals to Ohioans in need in 2019. The current need due to the COVID-19 pandemic is staggering. “We want to help,” said USA Race Timing and Event Management Fundraising Director Ashley Burwell. “Like many small businesses we were frantic as we realized that the social distancing necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19 would cancel the many races we had scheduled for the spring and summer months.” Burwell added, “people can run their own virtual race; but more importantly, we can help raise the much needed funds for our foodbanks throughout the state of Ohio.” USA Race Timing and Event Management designed seven different races, including a one-mile walk/run and a 100km

(62.1 miles) ultramarathon. Registration is free and there are no processing fees. Participants who submit their finish times will be entered into raffles to win a wide variety of prizes on June 1, 2020, after the virtual races are complete. Participants can also order custom Ohio Strong swag, including shirts, hoodies, medals and bibs to support the event. “We’re hoping participants will make a donation to the Ohio Association of Foodbanks since there are no fees to participate,” said Burwell. “100% of all fundraising, donations, and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the Ohio Strong Virtual Races swag will benefit the Ohio Association of Foodbanks.” Registration is open for the Ohio Strong Virtual Races, please visit the event website: USARaceTiming.com/OhioStrong. You can register for the One-Mile, 5k (3.1mi), Quarter Marathon (6.55mi), Half

culptureWalk is an exciting exhibit of over 55 sculptures displayed year-round from the Washington Pavilion to Falls Park in downtown Sioux Falls. The sculptures are owned by the artists and loaned to the exhibit for one year. From May through September, the public votes for its favorite sculpture, which is deemed the “People’s Choice Award.” That sculpture is purchased at the end of the exhibit year for the city’s permanent collection. Each year the exhibit will display new sculptures. All of the sculptures are for sale to the public. For voting information contact Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. at 230 S. Phillips Avenue, Suite 102 or look for ballot boxes on Phillips Avenue in summer months. The cornerstone of SculptureWalk is the Arc of Dreams, which is a stainless steel arc that spans over the Big Sioux River staking its claim as a Sioux Falls landmark. In total, Sioux Falls SculptureWalk, in its 17th year, will showcase 61 art pieces, including seven created by Sioux Falls artists. The inventory of art marks another year of expansion, up from 59 pieces last year and 57 in 2018. Cody Characters

Dan Miller By Mona Mesereau Mesereau Public Relations

CODY - Ready for an armchair adventure while you are social distancing at home? Sit around a crackling campfire with a cowboy singer, find out what it’s like to be a rodeo cowboy and hear the tale of a mule named Cadillac Jack by watching a series of online interviews with some of Cody, Wyoming’s most interesting people. Cody Yellowstone – the region that includes the authentic Western towns of Cody, Meeteetse and Powell as well as the valley East of Yellowstone – is a story-rich region populated by people who are fiercely independent and abundantly imaginative. “Traveling to Cody Yellowstone can be a transformative experience, and everyone who comes here leaves with a story,” said Claudia Wade, director of the Park County Travel Council. “Those of us who live and work here have stories too, and even if you can’t hear their stories in person for

a while, perhaps they will inspire to visit our wide open spaces and meet our fascinating residents when you can travel once again.” Cowboy singer Dan Miller, whose summer-season performances of Dan Miller’s Cowboy Music Revue entertain audiences visiting from around the world, lightly strums his guitar will explaining that cowboy music is “storytelling set to music.” The evolution of the cowboy song, he says, “is people sitting around a campfire telling stories of the day. I can picture it…a badly tuned guitar and a harmonica that sound like a symphony” on a starry Wyoming night. Jake Clark looks exactly like you someone you would imagine has spent his entire life roaming the wide open spaces, rugged woods and canyons of northwestern Wyoming. And you’d be right. Although his life has been one long adventure, he remembers one time when his mule Cadillac Jack helped save the day after an encounter with a pack of wolves.

Cody resident Tim Wade has been catching cutthroat trout in Cody Yellowstone for 40 years. Wade fondly recalls a chance encounter with a young and eager angler and his grandfather. Unlike Jake Clark, Ashley Hlebinsky , curator of the Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Center of the West, is definitely not out of central casting. The self-described city girl who wanted to be a doctor recounts one of her first encounters with the community members at an amicable annual gathering of sport shooters. The online video series is just one of many ways armchair travelers can get a Yellowstone fix. The National Park Service offers a variety of online options too, including a live webcam of Old Faithful eruptions and virtual visits to park places like the descriptively named Fountain Paint Pots.
