Police investigate how man hit his head on footpath

27-year-old man remains critically injured at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital after he allegedly hit his head on the footpath following an argument with security at Newtown Hotel on Saturday night. About 11.30pm on Saturday, February 2, a patron at the King Street pub became involved in an argument with pub security guards after he was asked to leave the premises. Police have been told the man fell and hit his head on the footpath following the argument. Newtown Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics responded quickly to the incident and treated him initially on scene.
Police spokesperson said. Newtown detectives have set up Strike Force Blattman to delve into the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone who can identify themselves in the CCTV images is asked to contact police. “Anyone in the pictures is asked to contact police so they can be interviewed,� the NSW Police spokesperson said. Anyone present that evening at the pub is urged to contact Newtown Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Calls and emails from the Weekender to the hotel’s management for comment were not returned.
The critically injured man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and underwent emergency treatment where he remains in a serious but stable condition. The 27-year-old is expected to undergo further surgery to replace part of his skull, which was removed to release pressure on his brain. With many patrons of the pub present at the time of the incident, police have released a set of CCTV images in the hopes of identifying possible witnesses. “With so many people present inside the pub at the time of the incident police are hoping that some may have witnessed the incident,� a NSW
