T

here is hope the li ve music scene in the Marrickville area may be resurrected. Marrickville Council is consulting with local live music venue owners to develop strategies and polic ies to support li ve music and entertainment. Early in 2013, Counc il unanimously agreed t o recognise and assist the live music industry. Since then, i t has been e xploring wa ys to support the growth and diversity of live music venues as well as small bars and restaurants. Mayor J o Ha ylen said Counc il’s aim was to sustain the li ve music v enues in Marrickv ille as she believed they were the best in Sydney. As a member of the Ci ty of S ydney Live Music Taskforce, Mayor Haylen said she was determined to find a solution to o vercome the obstacles the music industry is facing. “The work of the Taskforce will help us develop consistent live music f riendly policies across the inner city and inner west. We’re also working with Leichhardt Council to establish a live music and cultural prec inct on Parrama tta R oad betw een
