But the good news is that there are multiple places you can go to seek advice to help understand your rights. With high price tags on homes, renters make up a large portion of the Penrith population, but a headache of a landlord only adds to the daily pressures of life. Diane Gauci knows this all too well after her landlord made her life a “living hell” once she decided to leave a St Marys property, which she had called home for the past four years. After cleaning the house top to bottom, she was required to go back again and again, each time with a new issue brought up by the landlord to the real estate agent. “First it was the windows, then he asked me to go back and clean the pool which I had but the filter was broken which I had been saying needed to be fixed over and over but he wouldn’t replace it, so we went back and did it again, we took photos and videos of the whole house because I just knew there would be more issues,” she said.
