ingswood High School has had a win after a relentless campaign for a new school hall. The State Opposition says it’ll spend $4 million to build the hall if elected on March 28. It’s Labor’s second big education announcement in the local area in a week, after confirming air conditioning for Bennett Road Public School. “If elected in a few weeks Labor will set aside $4 million to upgrade your hall to give you a state of the art facility, a facility that this school deserves and a school that this community so desperately needs,” said Shadow Minister for Education and Training, Ryan Park. Mr Park commended the advocacy surrounding the hall, after the school’s P&C and students produced a strong campaign to secure the funding, including a video on social media. “Thank you very much to each of the parents, staff members, students and broader community along with our three great candidates who have been tireless advocates,” he said. “You’ve made this a community issue, and regardless of any size of politics, that’s what you should be doing.” But the Opposition’s commitment to the school has been questioned by Penrith MP, Stuart Ayres. “Labor has ignored Kingswood High for 20 years,” Mr Ayres said. “Since being elected I have delivered increased needs based funding and also funded the Cafe Training facility at Kingswood High. I’ll continue to work with the school principal, P&C and wider

Prue Car, Ryan Park, Emma Husar and Todd Carney with members of the Kingswood High community community to ensure Kingswood High gets the facilities it deserves.” Kingswood P&C President, Joe Terry said after campaigning for a number of years, it’s great to see the school may be brought up to speed. “Our school has lagged behind a lot of schools in the area in terms of infrastructure available to its students,” he said. “This is a great call by the Labor candidates,

albeit it’s election time, but it’s all part of the process to get people on side.” Kingswood High School Captain, Curtis Robin said even though it’s his last year, it’s very exciting to see what the future brings for students at the school in the coming years. “Whether they’re in Year Seven now, or Years Five and Six in primary school, it’s going to be very exciting for them to get new facilities,” he said.
