C

onstruction has officially started on the largest apartment project in Penrith’s history, as a new era for the city continues to develop. The first sod was turned on the new development at Thornton on Tuesday morning.

The residential apartment and commercial precinct is the first of its kind in the Penrith area, and a new style of urban living for the region. It is set to transform the northern part of the city. Penrith Mayor, Ross Fowler said the vision of the developers, St Hilliers and First Point Projects, fits well with the city’s lifestyle vision of inner city living close to amenities. “The most successful cities are the ones that

have the vibrancy, and this is created by people living close to services with easy and convenient access to transport,” he said. “This is Thornton in a nutshell... Thornton is a part of plans to improve connections between housing, transport, services and create better pathways between the city centre and other parts of Penrith.” Story continues on » p. 6
