n the next four weeks, Federal Election candidates will leave no door un-knocked, no fence free of election posters, and no train station without tired campaigners. September 7 is the date when the nation decides whether the Labor Party retains power or hands it to the Liberal Party, with the result set to come down to the wire. And nowhere is this choice more important than Lindsay, where sitting Labor MP, David Bradbury, retains the electorate by the slimmest of margins.
In 2010 he retained Lindsay by just 1.1 per cent over Liberal candidate, Fiona Scott after Ms Scott was pre-selected just days before the election was called. But second time around, the showdown between Mr Bradbury and Ms Scott is set to be fierce, with both candidates unofficially on the campaign trail months ago. “The choice between the major parties could not be clearer,” Ms Scott said. “At this election, the Coalition offers strong, experienced and stable government, a stronger economy, stronger borders, a stronger Australia and a better future – for all Australians. “Labor is offering just more of the same: more
talk, more chaos, more division, more debt, more deficits and more taxes.” In contrast, Mr Bradbury is asking residents that come poll day, they judge him on his experience and achievements. “I have fought hard to secure real improvements that have made our community a better place for people to live and work and now I am asking for the chance to continue delivering for our community,” he said. The campaign begins as both Mr Bradbury and Ms Scott agree to take part in a debate, hosted by the Weekender, on August 20 at Penrith RSL. Story Continues Page Seven
