Man left with serious facial injuries after 4am assault in St Marys

A bloodied cricket bat left behind by three men on Queen Street in St Marys told the story of a horrifying random attack on Tuesday morning. The bat is a key piece of evidence in the investigation into the assault, which police do not believe was targeted. A man was left with serious facial injuries following the incident at about 4am on Tuesday. He was on his way to work when he was set upon. Police are now desperate to find his attackers, who escaped in a car and remain on the run. Read the full story on page 3
