Sharing the Warmth
YORK COUNTY The comfort of a warm home is something to look forward to on the coldest of winter days. Unfortunately for some families in York County this is a luxury beyond their means. Pierre Puffer is trying to make a difference for families facing situations like these – He’s been raising money to give back to families without the ability to purchase heating fuel. Anyone who donates to Puffer’s project can do so directly (or by mail) at Puffer Automotive, 421 US Route 1, Kittery, ME 03904. These donations are combined for fuel vouchers through a matching program with Este’s Oil. Puffer delivers the vouchers to both Kittery and York police

Learn About the Lunar Eclipse KENNEBUNK Scott Negley will be at the Kennebunk Free Library on Saturday, January 19 at 11 a.m. to discuss the total lunar eclipse that will begin on January 20. Negley will also talk about the 2024 total solar eclipse that will be visible in northern New England and review the bright stars and constellations of the spectacular winter sky (which has more bright stars than any other time of the year). Scott Negley owns and operates a portable planetarium system for presenting astronomy programs to elementary and middle school classes in northern New England. Educated initially as an engineer, a binocular tour of the heavens ignited a pas-
sion for the stars that led him to the University of Pennsylvania for a M.S. degree in astronomy and a 40+-year career as an astronomy educator. He has been privileged to convey the splendor of the universe to students of all ages, initially as a university instructor, then as a school district planetarium director, adult school teacher and elder hostel instructor. As a Solar System Ambassador, Scott enjoys the opportunity to educate and inspire others with NASA’s magnificent discoveries. This program is free and wheelchair accessible. The Kennebunk Free Library is located at 112 Main St., Kennebunk. For more information, call 207-985-2173 or email kfl@kennebunk.lib.me.us.

WELLS Precious and Parker are an adorable and hilarious duo. Whoever adopts these kittens will enjoy nonstop shenanigans and unbearable cuteness. Both had tough starts in life, but you’d never know it now. Both are confident, happy and healthy kittens. Precious was found in the middle of Route 1, abandoned, flea-bitten, starving, sick and staggering around in circles due to ear polyps and a serious eye infection. Since she was brought to Safe Haven she’s been spayed and had ear polyp surgery. However, an ophthalmologist thinks she may need to remove her damaged eye. She happily climbs, leaps, plays with laser toys, runs thru tunnels, and does everything other kitties do! She is amazing. She loves to be held, cuddled and adores ear, neck and chin scratches as well as
NORTH BERWICK Happy New Year to all of our supporters, adopters and Another Chance furry alums! 2018 was a very up and down year for us in rescue, with many out of the ordinary surrenders and strays. We are pleased to report we were able to provide some amazing happily-ever-afters for kitties we helped settle into wonderful new homes. Kicking off 2019, we’d like to introduce you to Hayden once again. Hayden came to us over 1 year ago and despite being a very sweet, friendly and personable cat who gets along well with all of the other cats in her room at our rescue, Hayden is STILL with us. She is fairly laid back tortie girl. When would-be adopters come in looking at kitties, most are so outwardly in their face (in a good way!) that they shine and steal poor Hayden’s spotlight! She needs a home where she either has another mellow laid back friendly cat like herself to pal around with or adopters who are older and home so that she can hang out with them and know she’s not alone by herself. Hayden is approximately 7

KENNEBUNK The Camden Conference presents Matt Ward at the Kennebunk Free Library on Tuesday, January 15 at 6 p.m. In his presentation, “Modern China in the 21st Century,” Ward will discuss China’s rise from poverty to global economic power. He will explore what that rise means for the rest of the world and what it means for the United States specifically. Matt Ward is a retired Foreign Service officer. He is Past-President of the World Affairs Council of Maine and has been an Adjunct Professor

Specializing in economic, developmental and humanitarian issues, Matt served in Vietnam (CORDS), Cambodia, Haiti, Myanmar, Iran, Thailand, Indonesia, Sin-
gapore, Luxembourg, China (including Taiwan and Hong Kong) and the Sudan. In both the Bush and Clinton White Houses, Matt was Director for European Economies in Transition, the office that oversaw trade, develop-
mental and humanitarian policies for the several nation-states that came into being with the dissolution of the former Soviet Union. Matt finished his diplomatic career as a Senior Inspector for the Foreign Service. From 1999 to 2003, Matt was the Director for Refugee and Immigration Services at Catholic Charities Maine. ~ Ask The Computer Lady ~ Dear Computer Lady, I have a brand-new Lenovo computer, and it runs slower than my old laptop! I used Edge browser as it recommended and reviewed programs to be sure nothing strange is on the machine. It has been suggested I should get more RAM -- do you think that would speed things up? Peggy Dear Peggy, More RAM might speed your computer up, it depends on how much RAM is currently on your computer. I tell people that they should get at least 8GB of RAM on their computer, more if they can afford it. I currently have 32GB of RAM on my computer. You can check the amount of RAM installed on your computer following these directions: 1. Open File Explorer. It is the little icon on your taskbar that looks like a manila envelope. 2. In the left column of File Explorer, right-click on “This PC”. 3. In the context menu that appears, click on “Properties” at the bottom. 4. This will open a properties window that shows you information about your
computer. Look in the section named, System and you will see the amount of installed RAM. Elizabeth Dear Computer Lady, I am looking for a photo storage and simple editing solution to replace my Picasa3 software. I still use it, but the CRITICAL email function no longer works. Google Photos is not user friendly to me, so I come to the Computer Lay for suggestions. Heeeelp!!! And thanks, Stew Dear Stew, I can give you a couple of suggestions for photo programs. First, Windows has Microsoft Photos which you can get from the Windows Store, although it is most likely already installed on your computer if you are running Windows 10. Just click on the start icon and type “Photos” in the search box. When you open Microsoft Photos, it has some of the tools you used to have in Picasa, and it includes a “Share” button that could be set up to use email depending on what type of email program you use. If you want to upgrade to a more full-featured program, you
might want to try acdsee Photo Studio. It is not free, but there is a 30 day free trial that you can try out and see if you like it. Photo Studio includes several ways of sharing your photos including email and uploading to several social media sites. Hopefully, one of these will work for you. Elizabeth Dear Computer Lady, Do you prepare your articles (set the type) in WORD. OPEN OFFICE or use some other method before you put it into plain text and email it to the paper? What is the procedure you use? -- And, how do I put it into plain text? Thanks in advance for your good help. Dave Dear Dave, I actually use Notepad when first typing my article questions. In fact, I am typing my answer to your question in Notepad right now. Here is my procedure: I find a question in my email that I think will benefit most of my readers. I copy the question, and paste it into Notepad (this strips out any formatting from the email, and leaves me with only the text) I write my answer to the question in Notepad. Next, I copy the entire question/answer and paste it into a template that I have stored in Microsoft OneNote. I used to use Notepad for this step, but OneNote allows me to access the newsletters on my computer, laptop, iPad and iPhone. It also flags any spelling errors. When I am ready to send the article to the paper, I copy it from OneNote and paste it back into notepad. I save the notepad
file, and send it as an attachment to the newspaper. Using Notepad automatically reduces my text to plain text, so I don’t have to actually think about putting it in plain text. I hope this helps. Elizabeth Dear Computer Lady, Was hoping for your help on this problem. A few days ago I rec’d a call from someone with a foreign accent, claiming to be from “Windows,” telling me, in broken English, that my Windows was “corrupt!” Having just read a warning about scammers who use this same tactic, I thanked him for calling, told him I was not having a problem and just hung up, before he continued. I immediately checked my laptop and it seemed to be running just fine. I have anti-virus, anti-malware & anti-spyware running on that laptop, with no notifications from any of them pending. After the 6th call that same day, from what seemed like the same man, I blew my top, told him that we were on a “national do not call list” and if he continued to bother me, I would do what I could to see him prosecuted. He then assured me he would not call again. Skip 3 days later... My laptop will not let me advance beyond the initial sign in page (where you enter your password). Upon hitting “enter” (after filling in my password), the screen goes a medium bluish color and just sits and spins (as if it’s trying to spin up Windows but it’s so corrupt it cannot find the right path). So, now my laptop sits in a repair shop, waiting to see if
it only needs a clean install of Windows or... Even more. Long story short... How do we tell the scammers (who are just trying to access our private info) from the real deal when they call? All of them sound sooooo convincing that it’s hard for us old newbies to be sure. Please help. And, many thanks for all that you do to help all of us. Old dogs can learn new tricks, but we just can’t jump as high or run as fast. :) Susan Dear Susan, It is easy to tell the scammers from the real deal because the scammers are the only ones who will call you. Ever. Microsoft will never call you, Windows will never call you. If your computer is having problems, you will be the first one to notice and you will be the one to call someone (your local computer repair shop is the best place to call). The only possible exception I have ever seen over the years is if a computer is infected and sending out lots of virus laden messages, your Internet service provider will probably call you... or they might just turn your internet access off and wait for you to call them. You probably already know this, but the fact that your computer had problems 3 days after these phone calls is not related. Elizabeth Interested in learning more? Elizabeth has answered thousands of computer questions over the years. Come browse her articles, watch instructional videos, ask questions, and view comments at: www.askthecomputerlady.com/questions.

It features some of the country’s most admired

Michael Boardman Wild Bird Paintings at the Library BERWICK Michael Boardman’s collection “Year of the Bird: Avian Portraits & Field Sketches, will be on display through the month of February at the Berwick Public Library. Boardman is an avid naturalist who has lived his entire adult life in the state of Maine. His life-long interests in wildlife, hiking, kayaking and artwork all combine in the creation of his work. He works mostly in watercolor in the field, painting when time permits or field sketching when not. He was selected to be the Visiting Artist at Baxter State
Park in 2010 and the Artist in Residence at Acadia National Park in 2012. The summer of 2015 he was in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska for the Voices of the Wilderness residency. He says, “I love to hike, kayak and just be in the natural landscape. Painting becomes a record of my experience outdoors; light, color and shapes combine to bring the spirit and essence of place to my work.â€? ~ Arts & Entertainment ~ YCSC Lecture Series Features History, Global & More YORK COUNTY York County Senior College’s Winter 2019 Gary Sullivan Memorial Lecture Series commences in January with a focus on history, both familial and geographical. All Senior College lectures take place in the morning and afternoons of January 16, February 20 and March 20 at the Brothers of Christian Instruction in Alfred. Leading off the series is Fred Boyle, who was instrumental in initiating this winter activity for seniors. Fred’s topic is “The Richness of Genealogy.” A former teacher and professional genealogist, Fred has authored nine books, five of which are “Early Family” books of Sanford-Springvale and the surrounding towns. An active member of the community, Fred is a moderator and choir member at North Parish Church and has served on the boards of the local Red Cross and Springvale Public Library as well as the Sanford School Committee. He has been a member of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club
as well as a council member for York County Senior College. Dana Peck, president of the Biddeford Historical Society, provides the afternoon lecture, illuminating how the area participated in the Industrial Revolution in “Saco-Biddeford Mills: The Melting Pot.” Dana grew up in Biddeford and has lived in the area most of his life. He was the first President of the Biddeford Mills Museum. February brings an eclectic mix of topics, with Elsa Geskus, educational director of The Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ, demonstrating the iconic pipe organ in “Kotzsch in a Box,” and Kennebunk Chief of Police Bob MacKenzie presenting a film and discussion about “Battling Opiods.” The series concludes in March with a look beyond the U.S. borders, as Kim Jae Woong treats the audience to “Korean Spirit and Culture” and Monica and Bill Grabin explain the exotic species of fish and coral of the area east of Indonesia in “The Heart of the Coral Triangle.”
Morning lectures take place 9:30-11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and a second lecture, given 12:30-2:30 p.m. All winter lectures will be given at Denis Hall on the campus of the Brothers of Christian Instruction, 133 Shaker Hill Road, Alfred (off Route 202). The fee for each day’s program is $20 for York County Senior College members, $25 for non-members, payable at the door by cash or check made payable to the York County Shelter Program, and includes lunch, as well as coffee breaks. Should classes be cancelled on account of weather, notice will be given on local TV stations and may be heard on the YCSC answering machine at 207-282-4030. Otherwise, call 207-282-4030 for reservations by the Monday before each lecture. York County Senior College, providing low cost educational and social opportunities for adults, is affiliated with the University of Maine System. Winter lectures are open to the public; membership in Senior College is not required.
Lecture: The Agony of Jonathan Sayward on the Eve of Revolution YORK Old York’s own Danny Bottino kicks off the popular annual lecture and dinner series, History... with a side of soup! on Wednesday, January 16 at 6 p.m. at the Old York Museum Center with “’They Do They Know not what’: The Agony of Jonathan Sayward on the Eve of Revolution.” American “patriots” and “founding fathers” are popularly viewed as the pre-eminent resistors of unjust tyranny and oppression during the Revolutionary period. But what about those colonists who maintained their loyalty to the British Crown? Rather than being tyrannized by a foreign government on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, they were subject to oppression by their own American countrymen, friends, and even neighbors. One such loyalist, Jonathan Sayward (1713-1797) of York, Maine, remained in his hometown (rather than fleeing), and attempted to
shape the “Spirit of 1776” in the lead up to Lexington and Concord, and the ultimate split from Great Britain. In his effort to maintain political moderation Sayward failed, often in quite tragic circumstances. Scholar and PhD candidate Danny Bottino examines how Sayward’s personal agony sheds light on a type of loyalist resistance that did in fact have a critical – albeit subtle – effect on the political choices of the founding fathers, both during the Revolution and in the aftermath of victory. The lecture is followed by a dinner of minestrone soup and bread in historic Jefferds Tavern. Attendees are welcome to bring their own wine or beer. Soup is provided by Sentry Hill at York Harbor, with bread from When Pigs Fly. Tickets are $20 general, $18 members and available online at https:// oldyork.givezooks.com/events/ soup-series-2019-lecture-1 or at the door.

Health & Fitness Governor Mills Directs DHHS to Move Forward with Medicaid Expansion
AUGUSTA Governor Janet Mills announced that she has signed Executive Order Number 1, directing the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to swiftly and efficiently begin implementation of Medicaid expansion as passed by Maine voters. Governor Mills also announced that she is sending a letter today to the Secretary of Health and Human Ser-
vices Alex Azar and Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Seema Verma requesting the formal approval of the State Plan Amendments filed by the previous administration and amended today. “More than a year ago, the people of Maine voted to expand Medicaid. Today, my Administration is taking the long-awaited steps to fulfill their will, said Governor
Mills. “I am directing my Administration to begin implementing Medicaid expansion as quickly and as efficiently as possible so that we can help more Maine people access the health care they need. Expanding health care and lowering the cost for Maine people and small businesses is a top priority of my administration, and I look forward to working with the Legislature to achieve that goal.

“Governor Mills and I share a commitment to ensuring that the Department of Health and Human Services achieves its core mission to safeguard the health and wellbeing of Maine children and families. The Executive Order is a critical first step in achieving that mission, said Jeanne Lambrew, who is being nominated by Governor Mills as Commissioner of DHHS. “Full implementation of Medicaid expansion will take time and the collective cooperation of our health system, but with Governor Mills’ leadership, access to affordable health care coverage for Mainers is now on the horizon. The Executive Order directs the Department of Health and Human Services to make changes to process the applications of Mainers seeking health care coverage under Medicaid expansion, including amending the filings of the previous administration to reflect the accurate date of implementation and to seek the earliest possible approvals as allowed under the expansion act. Under the Order, the Department will adopt all rules as established in the Expansion Act before the February 1, 2019 deadline ordered by the Superior Court.
The Executive Order also directs the Department to partner with health care providers, organizations, patients, patient and consumer representatives and other stakeholders to create and implement a communications and outreach strategy to help enroll eligible Mainers, with a primary goal of speeding up application processing time and eligibility determinations to provide coverage as quickly as possible. The Order also directs the Department to work with the state Legislature to identify sustainable sources of funding for Medicaid Expansion to ensure eligible Mainers receive health care coverage under the Expansion Act in both the short- and longterm. In her letter to Secretary Azar and Administrator Verma, Governor Mills underscored the people of Maine’s demonstrated support for Medicaid expansion and the ongoing lack of affordable health care coverage caused by the previous administration’s refusal to honor the will of Maine voters. The letter also describes three amendments submitted See DHHS page 13...

Health & Fitness $828,415 for Maternal and Child Health Services in Maine WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Angus King (I-Maine) announced that the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $828,415 to Maine’s state-lev-

Bipartisan Bill to Fight Alzheimer’s Signed into Law WASHINGTON, DC The Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act was signed into law. The BOLD Act was authored by U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), and Tim Kaine (D-VA). It passed the Senate unanimously and passed the House 361-3. “At The Jackson Laboratory we are committed to helping to find treatments and even stop Alzheimer’s before it starts. We’re incredibly grateful for Senator Collins’ leadership, which provides hope for the future. The new BOLD Infrastructure for
Alzheimer’s Act will help to propel Alzheimer’s and dementia into the forefront as a public health issue and enable further funding to accelerate research and development for this devastating disease,” said Edison T. Liu, president & CEO, The Jackson Laboratory. Approximately 5.5 million Americans and 28,000 Mainers are living with Alzheimer’s, and the disease costs the United States more than $277 billion per year, including $186 billion in costs to Medicare and Medicaid. Without further action, the number of Americans with Alzheimer’s is expected to triple to as many as 14 million by 2050, costing the nation more than $1.1 trillion per year.

“Maine families deserve access to quality, regular care and a variety of specialized treatment options for mothers and their children,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “This funding will support a range of programs
by the Department to the State Plan Amendments filed by the previous administration on September 4, 2018 and December 21, 2018 (18-006, 18-007, and 18-0031). The amendments change the effective dates of the State Plan Amendments to July 2, 2018 in compliance with Maine State Law as established by the 2017 ballot initiative. In the letter, Governor Mills also reiterated her commitment to working with the Legislature to identify sustainable, ongoing sources of funding for expansion.

Stir all crust ingredients in a 9 or 10 inch pie plate; press wet crumbs uniformly against bottom and sides. Bake 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, dissolve espresso powder in vanilla extract and milk. Combine with other wet ingredients, beating until silky smooth. Pour mixture into cooled pie crust, baking 15 minutes at 425°. Reduce oven to 350° and bake about 30 minutes more, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean and the ďŹ lling jiggles slightly. Cool completely on a wire rack. In a microwavable 2 qt. bowl heat cream at 50% power until bubbles form at sides. Remove and add chocolate all at once. With a clean whisk, begin gently stirring in center of bowl. As chocolate melts, continue gently and evenly stirring until all chocolate is incorporated and no lumps remain, 2-4 minutes. Fold in sugar; when incorporated, fold in butter until mixture is glossy. Allow ganache to rest loosely covered on counter until slightly thickened.
Turn up oven to 425°.
Spoon ganache onto cooled, baked pie. Tap pan against counter to remove air bubbles so surface is glossy and smooth.
Whisk eggs, pumpkin, brown sugar, cocoa, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, nutmeg and salt until lumps are completely gone.
Yield: 8-10 servings.
Store in refrigerator, allowing to come to room temperature before serving. Refrigerate leftovers promptly.

Roberta Nan “Bobbie Lucas, 77 YORK – Roberta Nan “Bobbie Lucas died peacefully December 10, 2018 following a long period of declining health. Born on April 23, 1947 in York, a daughter of Robert F. and Margaret (Johnson) Lucas, Bobbie was a York girl for much of her life, having grown up on York Street, graduated from York High School and lived in York dormitory at the University of Maine; and she returned to York to live after adventures far away. She was an outstanding student throughout her high school, undergraduate (Uni-
versity of Maine), and graduate school (Purdue, UNH, Arizona State) years; and she taught at all levels of education, elementary through college. Before embarking on her graduate studies and teaching career, she took an extended trip around the USA, and the wonderful experiences she had remained a treasured memory throughout her life. Following a brief marriage in 1970, she realized her dream of teaching both Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL). She lived for short periods of time in Mexico, Colombia, and Peru in order to be the best Spanish speaker she could be, for Bobbie strove for excellence in all she undertook. When mental illness robbed her of the ability to teach, she strove for excellence in housekeeping jobs in York. When she could no longer live independently and when her illness permitted, Bobbie blessed other residents in group homes
in South Berwick and York with her compassion and concern for them. When she had to move to Kennebunk Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, she encouraged workers there with her interest in and encouragement of them. Her faith being an important part of her life, and despite her own burdens, she prayed frequently for her friends, about whom she cared deeply; and she encouraged them with notes and cards. All of them greatly appreciated her words and her sense of humor, which remained intact until her death. She was predeceased by both parents and a special cousin, Ned Lucas; she is survived by her aunt, Fay Boardman, and many cousins. Her family greatly appreciates the care she received in Kennebunk and the help and care of Beacon Hospice. A graveside service will be held in the First Parish Cemetery in the spring.

Anthony Murtagh, 72 CAPE NEDDICK – Anthony “The Irishman Murtagh of Carrick Macross, county Monaghan, Ireland, and son of Bernard and Bridget, went to be with our lord on December 20, 2018. In 1968 he arrived in America, joining the U.S. Navy. He married his beloved wife, Sharon Perkins. After 27 years, serving on seven ships, he retired as Lieutenant Commander. He later worked for the Maine State Fire Marshal’s office. Tony could fix and nearly build anything. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Caileen and Shannon, his granddaughter, Autumn, as well as his sisters
and brothers, leaving behind his fury pals Izzy and Thor. Born in Ireland on July 21, 1946 and taken from us far too soon as a result of Pulmonary Fibrosis. The Irishman will be at Ripley Pond listening to the loons. Always remember to take time to stop and smell the flowers. The lord is holding him in the hollow of his hand.

Entire Team Selected to Receive Student-Athlete of the Month WELLS For the past 12 years, the Student-Athlete of the Month award program at Wells High School has been a singular award honoring just one standout student-athlete each month over a typical school year. However, with the Warriors football team achieving its remarkable third consecutive Class B state championship win, WHS administrators and sponsors of the award took the unusual step to declare the entire Wells Warriors team Athletes of the Month for November. Five senior players accepted this recognition on behalf of the team in the Ward Gymnasium on December 21. Members
included Nate Curtis, Morgan Welch-Thompson, Matt Sherburne, Tyler Bridge and Dylan Whitney. Recognizing the team were Wells-Ogunquit Director of Athletics 6-12 Pierce Cole, Pam Moody-Maxon, and John C. Kreie. Moody Maxon Real Estate and the Cole Harrison Insurance Agency (of which Kreie represents here at WHS) are sponsors of this award. “It’s a great honor. We appreciate it, commented Warriors Coach Timothy Roche of his team receiving the award. “What a great group of kids. They worked hard all season and they deserve anything they get, said Roche who was

being held like a baby and talked to. Precious is not only beautiful, she’s quite unique - not only are female orange tigers like her quite rare, she also has double paws! She’s one in a million! Parker is about the same age as Precious and was found begging for food, door to door, in a trailer park until someone finally brought him to Safe Haven. He is a very handsome short-haired black/grey tiger with white boots and chest. We matched Parker up with Precious as both are the same age and love to play. Now they’re inseparable. If one leaves the room, the other cries until they return. Parker is also one of the fastest, highest-jumping kittens we’ve ever met. On a recent visit to meet the children at Wells Elementary School, Precious and Parker represented Safe Haven. They were calm, well-behaved “spokescats, and we were proud of them and their confidence level.
Parker and Precious will do best in a loving home with someone who has time to play and cuddle with them. Cuddle time and being held are very important to these two. Ideally, someone who’s home during the day will adopt them, as they really thrive on attention and love. Interested? Call 207-2298314 to schedule a visit. You will totally fall in love when you meet these two! With so many successful adoptions recently, we’ve been able to rescue more from midcoast Maine. We recently saved nine more kitties, and each is dear and deserving. Come visit our kitties at our Adoption Center, 1420 Post Road, Wells, Tuesday - Saturday. FMI 207646-1611. We hope the New Year brings you Peace and Joy. We hope to meet you at our Adoption Center and Thrift Shop, next to the Wells IGA.
only five Maine football teams, since records have been kept, have won a state football championship three years in a row. “This year’s football team certainly gave this community something to cheer about. commented Moody-Maxon. “They are a great group of kids who are respectful on and off the field. They worked very hard in the summer, were in the gym year round to get stronger and these efforts caused them to be a force on the field. She added, “We chose to give the award to the entire team simply because there is no “I in team and they all worked together to become State Champions!
Moody-Maxon says the Student Athlete of the Month plaque for November 2018 was created to honor the entire 2018 football team. She says it will be displayed in the school’s trophy case at the entrance to the gym.
