VVA To Honor The Memory of Our Fallen Warriors SANFORD On Sunday, May 25, Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 1044 based in Sanford will hold a Fallen Warrior Ceremony in memory of our military men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom from Sanford / Springvale as well as those that still have not returned home and are either POW/MIAs. “On this sacred day, we honor the memory of those Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard mem-
bers who have died fighting for the freedom and liberty that we enjoy every single day,” said Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1044 President Joseph Armstrong. “These fallen heroes represent the character of a nation who has a long history of patriotism and honor a nation who has fought many battles to keep our country free from threats of terror” said VVA Chapter Representative Jim Davis. “It is our hope that other towns, cities and veterans or-
ganizations will contact us and invite us to perform this powerful ceremony for them,” said Armstrong. The ceremony will be held at the St. Ignatius Parrish Hall 25 Riverside Avenue, Sanford starting at 1 p.m. and will last approximately 1 hour followed by refreshments. Guest speaker will be Sanford Mayor Thomas P. Cody. The public is invited to honor the memory of our fallen warriors. See page 7 for more local Memorial Day weekend events.
