Eliot Antique Tractor & Engine Show Returns for 25th Year ELIOT Exhibitors, Raitt Homestead Farm Museum (RHFM) members, and antique tractor and engine clubs, will put their refurbished “old iron” of all makes and models on exhibit July 23-25 at the RHFM in Eliot. This year the feature tractor is Allis Chalmers and the engine is Abenaque with all makes and models are welcome. The 25th show was originally schedule for July of 2020. This event is the largest fundraiser for the Raitt Farm. Members of the 26-year-old
Raitt Farm Museum include old and new iron enthusiasts from all over New England and quite a few from around the country. There is a variety of antique farm tractors dating back
to the early 1900s that will be on display. Agricultural and farm equipment, working machinery and collections of interesting farming displays. Antique gas engines that
were predecessors to today’s gas and diesel powered equipment are seen powering various farm equipment. From agricultural to industrial to personal use, the event relives a bygone era with numerous historic farm demonstrations, including the antique Shingle Mill and early 1900 double sided Hildreth Woodsplitter. Exhibitors will be on hand throughout the weekend to talk about their hobby and the history of these machines. The stories behind them are often as colorful as the tractors and engines themselves.
Some of the events scheduled are tractor pulling, tractor parades, kids pedal pull, branding shingles, and kids barrel tractor rides. Crafters, flea market, good food, live music, and fun are all on tap for the weekend. Raitt Homestead Farm Museum is located at 2077 State Road (Route 103) in Eliot. YCCC Announces Passing of Dr. Barbara Finkelstein WELLS York County Community College (YCCC) President Michael Fischer recently informed the college community of the passing of former President Dr. Barbara Finkelstein. Finkelstein served in that role from 2014 to until her retirement in 2019. “Barbara was a creative and steadfast leader at York County Community College and I know many of you were close to her. I am very saddened by this news,” Fischer said on July 13. Under her leadership Dr. Finkelstein oversaw a major $2.9
