York Days Events Kick Off July 29 - August 6 YORK – York Days, 2017, will bring an exciting lineup of entertainment, special events and fireworks, from July 29 through August 6. The York Days Co-Ed Softball Tournament will be a double elimination tournament limited to 10 teams. Each team will have a maximum of 15 players, four of which must be female. ASA rules will govern all play. Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. So get your teams together and we’ll see you Saturday, July 29. Sunday, July 30, is part of the York Days Festival that is held every summer in York. This is a scenic run through York Village and York Harbor and this year's 34th Annual Amidon Family Dentistry Roadrace will start at 8 a.m. at York High School, 1 Robert Stevens Dr, York. The course is 5K Certified by the Athletics Congress. Registra-
tion opens at 6:30 race day, closing at 7:45 a.m. $25 mail-in registration/$27 online or $30 day of race. Limited to 1,200 runners. Free 12 and under Fun Run. FMI: parksandrec.yorkmaine. org. Days celebration will also take place on Sunday, July 30, with the Christmas in July lighting of the Nubble from 8-9 p.m. Lights will come on at 9 p.m. with the arrival of a York Beach Fire Ladder Truck and Santa. Lights will come on each night following for one week 8:30 p.m.midnight each night. Parking is limited, please plan to catch a FREE bus running from York High School between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. The ball field at Short Sands Beach will serve as the site for the two-day York Days Craft Fair, slated from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6. There will be live music, a clown per-
formance (11-1 on Saturday), a giant slide, Todd’s Street Side Grill and over 40 vendors. A traditional fireworks spectacular will conclude York Days at 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, at Short Sands Beach. PLEASE NOTE: York Days Fireworks needs your help! The fireworks show is very expensive and donations are needed to insure the show can happen. Donations of any amount are appreciated. Nicole Oliver raises awareness about domestic violence. The 5k (3.1 mile) run or walk begins at 9 a.m., with registration opening at 6:45 a.m. A 1k Kids’ Fun Run will take off at 8:30 a.m. Registration for the 5K is $25 in advance or on race day. The Kids’ run is $15 in advance or on race day. Nicole’s Run/ Ellie’s Walk, presented in part by 2017 Event Sponsor: Kennebunk Savings, raises money to support the programs and services of Caring Unlimited, York County’s Domestic Violence Resource Center. Nicole’s Run/ Walk was first organized by friends and family of Nicole Oliver, a 24-year old mother of two from Wells, who was killed by her husband in 2007. Nicole had recently left her abusive husband and was working to rebuild a safe and secure life for herself and her two young sons. She was taking courses towards her goal of becoming a registered nurse when she was killed. Each year, Caring Unlimited serves approximately 3,000 individuals whose lives are affected
