North Berwick Festival Offers Something for everyone By The Sentinel Staff NOrTH BerWICK – The Town of North Berwick Mill Field Festival will start off with a bang when the starting shot is fired for the Fifth Annual Horduran Rooster Run on Saturday, Aug. 17. Registration for the 5K race will get under way at 6:30 a.m. in anticipation of the 8 a.m. start at North Berwick Physical Therapy on Burma Road. and computer-generated digital works will be showcased in sidewalk booths throughout the downtown area and in a tent site in Jacob’s Lot on Beach Street. Artists will begin checking in at 7 a.m. at Veterans Park, Shore Road and Beach Street, and works will be officially unveiled with the 9:30 a.m. opening of the show. About 75 top Seacoast artists will be represented in the open-air show and sale that has attracted art lovers for four decades. A juried competition will take place on Thursday morning at Ogunquit’s Dunaway Center where cash prizes of $300, $200 and $100 will be awarded to the
top three contestants. Last year’s top work was an oil painting by artist Steve Previte. Robin Frisella placed second in 2012 with a work in pastels, and photographer Duncan Miller captured third. Honorable mention went to artist Danny O for a work in acrylic. All four of these top exhibitors will return to Ogunquit to participate in this year’s art show and sale. Judges for this year’s competition will be Ron Prevoir, Ann Legg and Norm West. Outdoor exhibits will remain in place throughout the day, and the show and sale will conclude at 5 p.m. Rain date is Friday, Aug. 23.

Chuck Cumming memorial Golf Tourney to be Held in Wells
By Larry Favinger Contributing Writer WellS – The 14th Annual Chuck Cumming Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Monday, Aug. 26, at the Old Marsh Country Club in Wells. The event is presented by the Wells Rotary Club and Wells High School Lady Warriors’ “Shootin’ for a Cure.” All proceeds from the event will be split between the Lady Warriors basketball team to benefit the Breast Care Centers at York Hospital and Wells and local Rotary projects.
