Capriccio Festival of Kites: 20 Years and Still Flying OGUNQUIT The 20th Annual Capriccio Festival of Kites will be held on Saturday September 8 on the Ogunquit Beach from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Capriccio Festival of Kites was started in 1997 by Ogunquit Selectman Larry Smith using his $1000 selectman’s salary. That first year he gave away over 150 kites. Since that time over 6000 kites have been given away to children to
decorate and fly. Larry himself took up kite flying after being challenged by a friend and flew a kite every day for 555 days. During that span, he flew a kite in 15 states and 10 countries to promote kite flying and the Capriccio Festival of Kites. This year over 300 kites will be given away to kids to decorate and fly and at noon there will be a mass ascension of all the kites and prizes will be awarded for many different art
and fun categories. Professional kite fliers from the American Kitefliers Association (AKA) and Kites over New England (KONE) and the Nor’Easters will be on the beach flying wonderful, colorful kites, large and small for all to enjoy. Volunteers from AKA, KONE, the Nor’Easters and the Ogunquit Rotary Club will be on hand to help the chilSee KITES page 18...

Fundraising Efforts for Emergency Responders ELIOT The Eliot Firefighters Association is conducting a fundraising campaign through direct donations for the purpose of purchasing several Thermal Imaging Cameras for emergency responders. These cameras will primarily assist the firefighters in locating occupants in a structure with limited or no visibility due to smoke conditions. The cameras utilize Infa Red Technology in detecting different heat levels. People and even animals show on a camera screen as outlines
of who they are searching for. A very valuable tool when time is of the essence. The goal is to provide a camera for every firefighter that would be riding a fire truck to the scene of an incident. They can also be used for search and rescue operations, initial building conditions and any operation that has a heat signature. Our deepest gratitude goes to Sam and his family and friends for seeing the need and sponsoring the kick off event. Every residence and business in Eliot has received a

Sam Gharios, owner of Gateway Gas of Eliot, presents a check for $4,120 to Chief Muzeroll of the Eliot Fire Department from profits and donations for the Eliot Firefighters Association Thermal Imager fundraising campaign.

KITTERY For those residents and guests who may have noticed increased helicopter activity overhead this past week, it wasn’t your imagination. The company, Eversource, was performing infrared aerial patrols of the transmission rightof-way system throughout the area. The yellow and blue Bell Jet Ranger Tail #N868JB was spotted flying overhead over several days. These patrols

Assessors to Conduct Cyclical Inspections
KITTERY In an effort to maintain fair
and equitable assessments for all properties, the firm of Municipal
Resources, Inc. (Contract Assessor’s Agent), is performing
a cyclical review of all properties in the Town. They will visit roughly 25% of the properties each year to check for accurate measurements and to verify all pertinent data of each improvement. The current round of inspections will take place within Tax Map 1 from Tuesday, September 4, through Friday, September 21. All assessing staff will adhere to the following guidelines: Staff will be wearing identification badges, will have signs on their vehicles and will have introduction letters from the Town showing their vehicle information and Town contact information. A typical inspection takes around 10 minutes. If no one is home, exterior measurements of all improvements may be taken. A letter may be sent in the future which will inform owners
of dates and times in which appointments for an interior inspection can be arranged. If an adult property owner is home, an interior inspection to confirm data may be requested. Interior inspections are very important to ensure accurate, fair and equitable assessments for all properties. The homeowner is encouraged to provide information that may not be apparent to the appraiser at the time of inspection such as: seasonal wetness, cracked foundations, leaking roofs, easements, etc. Frequently Asked Questions: What is a Cyclical Review? A Cyclical review is a systematic house by house, neighborhood by neighborhood review of each property to verify that the information listed on the Town’s assessment record matches the property. is $50 per person. The “Dinnerâ€? part is a buffet, dessert and coffee. There will be a cash bar. The “Chanceâ€? part is a silent auction featuring art from local artists, a dozen lobsters, jewelry from Swamp John’s and much more. Live music will be provided by Sea Smoke. The real chance is to help the FOHM expand their educational programs for the Heritage Museum. This past spring FOHM hosted a “Do You Remember?â€? with Richard Perkins at the Dunaway Center. In the past FOHM hosted a talk given by our own local Native Americans on their traditional ways, medicinal herbs, and herbal remedies. FOHM would like to host more lectures and possibly develop a children’s program. In addition, they fund the museum exhibits. Tickets can be purchased at the museum, check or cash. Museum hours are TuesdaySaturday 1-5 p.m. RSVP deadline is September 4.

Maine Artists Sought to Design Coin Honoring Military Service
AUGUSTA The Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services (MBVS) is seeking a Maine artist to design an “Honorable Service Coin recognizing the military service of post-Vietnam War and peacetime veterans. Coins honoring the service of World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and women veterans have been previously commissioned. Plaques of those coins now hang in the Hall of Flags at the State Capi-
tol, as will the final design of the Honorable Service Coin. “No matter when or where they served, a veteran is someone who has expressed their willingness to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. That deserves recognition, stated Adria Horn, Director of the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services. “The Honorable Service Coin will be a symbol of that recognition and the eternal gratitude of Maine and its citizens for all who have
worn the uniform. According to the official request for proposals (RFP), interested artists are challenged to create a design that is unique to Maine and relevant to all of Maine’s veterans. All artists must be taxpaying residents of the State of Maine and must articulate their connection to Maine veterans in their proposal. The project is open to all artists age 18 and over, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, military

Memorial Bench Dedicated to Milton Hall KITTERY If you’re looking to take a rest in Pepperrell Cove, now there’s the perfect place to do it. Last week, the Town of Kittery, along with members of the Kittery Port Authority, family and friends, had the pleasure of attending the dedication of the Milton Hall Memorial Bench. Milton Hall who passed away in March of 2018, was a long time Kittery resident and spent almost 20 years serving on the Kittery Port Authority and volunteering at the Kittery Historical and Naval Museum. In his down time, he also enjoyed lobstering and staying active in the Kittery community. The newly dedicated bench in memory of Milton Hall, honors his commitment
to preserving Kittery’s past and present for the future, and provides a welcoming place by the water for others looking to do the same.

~ Ask The Computer Lady ~
Dear Computer Lady, Really cant say how much I have learned and gained confidence from you, especially since computers were unheard of when I grew up. I use spreadsheets in my work here at home. I have some on open office and excel; thinking I would like to use only one program and free is even better. Can I move everything to the one you recommend without loosing my work? How, in detail, would I do that? I use Windows
10 ( buying Excel every year) on one computer and Windows 7 Home Premium (Excel 2010) on the second. Thank you, Rhonda Dear Rhonda, Yes, you can switch to using only Open Office (or Libre Office) for your spreadsheets, and it is even easier than you might think. Since OpenOffice can open excel spreadsheets, you don’t have to do any type of moving or converting. Just open the spreadsheet program

in Open Office first, then use the, “File and “Open menu to open your excel spreadsheets that way. If you only use these spreadsheets on your own computer and don’t have any need to send them to others, then when you save your changes, you can convert it to the native Open Office spreadsheet format. If you need to send these spreadsheets to others, I would suggest saving them in excel format, .xls so that others will be able to open and read them in whatever program they are using. Elizabeth Dear Computer Lady, I understand that Microsoft is supporting Internet Explorer less and that many websites find it incompatible and prefer other browsers. I’m not ready to give up my Win 7 and IE to go with Win 10 and Edge, so I’m consid-
ering the advice you’ve given to many -- download and install an additional browser. In the case of any additional non-Microsoft browser, what else should I do (if anything) besides simply downloading and installing the alternate browser? Are there any security programs I’d need to know about? (Such as the security updates I currently do for IE) Any add- ons I’d need to do, such as Flash Player or Adobe Reader specific to the second browser? (I already have them for IE). Thank you for all that you do, Lucille Dear Lucille, First, I just want to mention that you can still use Internet Explorer in Windows 10, it is still included, you just have to search for it. Then, if you are interested in any additional non-microsoft

browsers, here is the best way to install them and keep them updated. 1. Go to www.ninite.com Here you will see a list of free software that you can download and install. Ninite is a great place to get your software because it installs it without installing any of the unwanted toolbars or advertising software that frequently sneaks in with free software. 2. In the section that says, “Pick the apps you wantâ€?, click to check off the web browsers you are interested in downloading. 3. In the “Runtimesâ€? section, click to select any add-ons you want to install as well. Adobe reader does not need to be installed for each browser, if you already have it, you are all set. 4. Click the blue button that says, “Get Your Niniteâ€? and save the file on your desktop. It will be named with the names of the programs you selected above. 5. Once that file has been saved to your desktop, double click it to run it. The first time you run the file, it will download and install the apps you selected. 6. Keep that file on your desktop, and double click to run it every few weeks or so. It will automatically update the browsers and runtimes without adding any unwanted software. Elizabeth Dear Computer Lady, I use and work on a lot of different units. One of which is an old Dell Latitude C400 running Windows XP Pro SP3. There was one time that everything went down in size, and that was re-installing the video driver, but then the moment the unit was rebooted, all the windows and icons are way too large again. The screen is 12”, yet it displays everything like it should be a 22” monitor, if not larger. And with the windows so overblown out of proportion to the screen, I cannot access all of the windows, especially when there is no scroll bar and the movement stops when I run out of screen. I sincerely hope you can help me get things straightened away on this unit, as I cannot access anything until I can see what I am doing. Thanks in advance for your help and looking
Dear Renee, It sounds like you might be able to fix this problem using the settings on your monitor instead of the settings in Windows. What you need to do, is find the adjustment buttons on the monitor itself. Most monitors have an “Auto” or “Auto Adjust” button. Press that and the monitor will sense the signal coming in and adjust itself so that the picture is centered on the screen and sized correctly. If that doesn’t work, use the other buttons on the monitor to manually adjust the size of the image on your screen. I can’t tell you exactly how to do this since it is different for each model of monitor, but look for the button that brings up a menu on the screen, and then use the
adjustment buttons to navigate through that menu, select the settings you want to change, and then make the adjustments. If you get stuck, try to find the

Museum Invites Artisans for Holiday Sale KENNEBUNK The Brick Store Museum is planning ahead for the holidays, and will be opening its second annual Season of Giving Arts Sale, running December 1-22. Artists, crafters, and makers of any handmade items are welcome to apply for the display. The sale will serve as a “brick-and-mortar pop-up shop for artists during the holiday season. Applications and more information can be found at www.brickstoremuseum.org or at the museum front desk at 117 Main Street, Kennebunk. Applications are due by September 30 with selection by October 6. The sale will be set up by museum staff and volunteers, and does not require artists to be present. A museum representative will coordinate all sales, as artists’ works will be displayed with other accepted entries so that shoppers can purchase multiple artists’ items at once. This also allows artists exhibiting in multiple shows during the busy holiday season to take part. ...KITES from page 1 dren decorate and fly their kites. The volunteers will also judge the children’s kites during the noon mass ascension. Last year 80 prizes were awarded. Plus, since 1997 the Capriccio Kite Festival had to be canceled only twice due to weather. This is a free event thanks to the wonderful sponsors. Maine Supreme Court Rules DHHS Must Submit for Federal Medicaid Expansion Funds AUGUSTA The Maine Supreme Judicial Court today has dismissed an appeal from the LePage administration and lifted the court’s stay, which means the commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services must file a State Plan Amendment to draw down federal matching funds for Medicaid expansion. DHHS is now under a mandatory duty to immediately submit the State Plan Amendment. The court also directed the Superior Court to resolve the question of whether DHHS has missed the deadline to begin providing care to 70,000 Mainers who became eligible for Medicaid under the law on July 2. “The law is the law, and to-
day’s ruling means that the LePage administration must comply and submit a plan for expansion, Robyn Merrill, executive director of Maine Equal Justice Partners said. “This is good news for the state, which can now draw down federal funds to pay for 90 percent of the cost of health care, and it’s good news for the eligible Mainers who are waiting for their chance to go to the doctor or fill a prescription. This is a step forward. In April, Maine Equal Justice Partners, Consumers for Affordable Health Care, Maine Primary Care Association and Penobscot Community Health Care filed suit along with five individuals against the DHHS to compel the agency to begin implementing Medicaid expansion as required by state law. “Medicaid expansion is the
Home Prices & Sales Up AUGUSTA Maine experienced solid gains in both sales prices and sales volume for single-family home sales during the month of July. Maine Listings reported that 1,864 home changed hands last month—an increase of 9.65 percent from the same period last year—and the median sales price jumped 9.22 percent to $225,000. The median sales price (MSP) indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less. “For-sale inventory is coming onto the market, but statewide we’re seeing 12 percent fewer homes for sale than a year ago. says Kim Gleason, 2018 President of the Maine Association of REALTORSŽ and Broker/Owner of McAllister Real Estate in Hallowell. “Pricing is related to these market forces; home prices continue to rise, which is an advantage for current homeowners looking to build equity, but rising prices can become an obstacle for firsttime buyers. In some Maine markets, price gains are outpacing income growth because of consistently low for-sale inventory levels. Nationally, sales dipped 1.2 percent in the past year. According to data released today by The National Association of Realtors, the national MSP increased 4.6 percent to $272,300 in July. The regional Northeast experienced a 1.5 sales decrease in July, while the regional MSP jumped 6.8 percent to $309, 700. “There are still more than 10,000 active for-sale listings
statewide, and autumn is a great time of year to search for your perfect home; sellers are motivated to move before the holidays and Maine winter.
law. More than 70,000 Mainers became eligible for health care coverage on July 2. We welcome the court’s opinion that the state must file for federal matching funds immediately, said Jack Comart, litigation director at Maine Equal Justice. “Since July 2nd, I have spoken nearly every day with families and individuals who are qualified for care and have unmet, urgent medical needs. This decision will bring them that much closer to getting the care they need and that Maine voters enacted on their behalf. In November, voters overwhelmingly approved Medicaid expansion, but Gov. Paul LePage refused to implement it. In April, a group of advocates and impacted individuals sued to force the LePage administration to implement the law. On June 4, the Maine Superior Court agreed with voters and ordered the LePage administration to begin the process of implementation by filing a State Plan Amendment, which allows the state to draw down federal funding, 90 percent of the total cost, to support expansion. Today’s ruling by the Maine Su-
preme Judicial Court means that the Maine Superior Court’s decision stands. That court’s order did not consider the July 2 date in the Medicaid expansion law. Mainers applying for care under Medicaid expansion have begun to receive denial letters from DHHS, despite being qualified under the law.
That question will now be examined by the Superior Court. Maine Equal Justice Partners is a civil legal aid organization that represents Maine people with low income in areas of economic security, including access to health care. For more information, visit www.mejp.org.

STATEWIDE September is National Preparedness Month, the perfect time to get your household ready for an emergency. The Maine Region of the American Red Cross urges everyone to make sure they are prepared for a disaster and not to wait until an emergency occurs and it’s too late. “This is the time of year when hurricanes, floods, wildfires and other large disasters can happen,” said Patricia Murtagh, CEO of the Maine Region of the American Red Cross. “And disasters like home fires can strike at any time of the year. You should take steps now to be ready if an emergency occurs. It’s critical

that all members of your household know what to do for emergencies both large and small.” Be Ready to Evacuate Whether the emergency is a home fire or something bigger like a hurricane, the situation may force you to leave your home. There are ten steps you can take now to be prepared if the emergency makes it unsafe to remain at home: Follow the instructions of officials and evacuate if told to do so. Leave early enough to avoid being trapped by severe weather. Remember you may have to get out on foot depending on the type of disaster. If you don’t have a car, or can’t use your vehicle, plan on how you will leave the area. If you have a car, keep the gas tank full if an evacuation order is possible. Don’t let the tank go below half full in case gas stations are unable to pump gas. Decide where you would go and what route you would take to get there. This could be a motel, the home of a friend or relative a safe distance away, or an evacuation shelter. Download the free Red Cross Emergency App to find shelter information and weather and emergency alerts for more than 35 different situations. If you have time, let someone out of the region know you are evacuating and where you are going. Leave a note saying when you left and where you plan to go. Wear sturdy shoes and clothing that provides some protection. Be alert for road hazards such as downed trees, flooding, etc. Do not drive onto a flooded road. Practice evacuating your
home twice a year. Grab your emergency kit and drive your planned evacuation route. Include an alternate route in a different direction in case one is impassible. Make sure you have locations and maps saved on devices such as cell phones and GPS units and on paper. Don’t forget your pets. If it’s not safe for you to stay home, it’s not safe for them either. Prepare a phone list of pet-friendly motels and animal shelters located along your evacuation route. Keep in mind only service animals are usually allowed in shelters Getting prepared is easier than it sounds. There are three basic steps: Get a Kit Pack the following items in an easy-to-carry container – a gallon of water per person, per day; non-perishable food; flashlight and hand-crank or battery-powered radio; extra batteries; sanitation and personal hygiene items; copies of important papers; extra cash and any medical or baby supplies family members may need. See full details here. Make a Plan Have all members of your household help devise your emergency plan. Consider what emergencies could happen where you live; what to do if you are separated and how will you let loved ones know you are safe. Find full details and easyto-use plan templates here. They include adults age 65 and older, those with chronic medical conditions, people who work outside, infants and children and athletes. Here are steps you should take in hot weather: Hot cars can be deadly. Never leave children or pets in your vehicle. The inside temperature of the car can quickly reach 120 degrees. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Avoid drinks with caffeine or alcohol. Check on family, friends and neighbors who do not have air conditioning, who spend much of their time alone or who are more likely to be affected by the heat. Barbara “Bobbyâ€? Chisholm, 99 KITTERY / NORTHBOROUGH, MA – Barbara “Bobbyâ€? (Farnsworth) Chisholm passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at home in Kittery with loving family by her side. Bobby was the devoted wife of 67 years to James “Billâ€? W. Chisholm, Jr. until his death in January 2015. She is survived by their children, Ann Stirk and her husband Roger of York; Bill Chisholm, III of Grafton; Barbara Chisholm and her husband Ken Ward of Hudson; David Chisholm and his wife Rose of Worcester; six grandchildren, Tammy Ramsey, Ben Stirk, Scott Stirk and his fiancĂŠ Allyce, Erin, Tori, and Zack Chisholm; eight greatgrandchildren, Nick, Shawn, Keith, Shyla, Christian, Elias, Ezekiel, and Olivia; many dear nieces and nephews. She was born in Hammonton, NJ, the daughter of Custer L. and Zana L. (Pierce) Farnsworth and sister to Nancy Farnsworth Barlow of Medway and the late Lee “Billâ€? Farnsworth. She graduated from Leominster High prior to studying at Wilfred Academy in Boston. She worked as a hairdresser at the Black and White Beauty Salon in Worcester prior to caring for her family. Bobby and Bill resided in Northborough for 47 years before retir-
ing to Maine, to be nearer to their family. Together, Bobby and Bill enjoyed sporting events, attending and supporting three generations of their family’s athletic events. Highlights of their traveling included vacationing in Hawaii for 28 wonderful years and summering for over 30 years at York Beach with the Barlow family. In the early years, the family vacationed at Lake Waushacum with the Farnsworth family. Bobby enjoyed tennis, swimming and rooting for her Boston Teams! She was an avid bowler, continuing on the lanes at Sawyer’s Bowladrome well into her eighties. With loving hands she crocheted numerous afghans for her family, cared for her colorful flower beds, and enjoyed perfecting her painting skills. She enjoyed crafts, most especially Creative Memories and Stampin-Up. While living in Northborough, MA, she was an active member of Trinity Church, assisting with numerous activities there. She was a member of the Northborough’s Woman’s and Garden clubs and enjoyed socializing at the Northborough Senior Center. Above all, Bobby’s greatest joy was seeing her family carrying on the tradition gathering and spending quality time and making memories. A time of visitation was held on Thursday, August 30, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA. Bobby’s funeral followed and she will be laid to rest privately. A separate memorial service will be held in Maine at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northborough Senior Center,

She was well known for over 25 years as hostess and dining room manager of Vallee’s Steak House. Her extensive community activities over the years
included past Regent of DAR, The Mayflower Society, Altrusa, Eliot Garden Club, Kittery Historical and Naval Museum, Kittery Woman’s Club, and American Legion Auxiliary. Nellie loved antique shopping and she and her husband especially loved collecting antique clocks. Each child was given a grandfather clock. She will also be remembered for her baklava, which she made during the holidays for her family and friends. Services will be held privately for family members, and interment will be at Orchard Grove cemetery in Kittery. Family flowers only. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, Eighth Avenue, 7 Floor, New York, NY 10001. Care of the McKay family has been entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home.
Walter F. Myers, 95 YORK – Walter Myers died peacefully at the Hyder House Hospice Facility in Dover, NH on August 21, 2018. He was born September 9, 1922 and one of 12 children born to Lydia Wilson Myers and John Firman Myers of Altoona, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Raydee Myers; daughters, Kathleen Perry and Pan Myers; five grandchildren, Jennifer Camden of Kittery; Christopher Perry of Seattle, WA, Reidee Swan of GA, Patrick Swan of CA and Laura Chase of WY; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and his sister, Nancy Stevens of Gardiner. He served honorably as a radio operator in the Army Air Corps and the Air Force for 20 years. During WWII he served on Tinian Island, from which the atomic bomb was launched and with the Kyushu Gypsies during the Korean Conflict, who evacuated the wounded from MASH units and dropped paratroopers and equipment. Being a naturally humble man, he would never go into detail about this service. He was also a radio operator instructor at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS and was a member of the Ecuadorian mission to Quito. Once he retired from the Air Force, the family settled in York where he resumed his career in Shop 67 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard working on submarines including the Albacore. He enjoyed many hobbies, including leather tooling, collecting cannons, painting soldiers, gardening, and general handyman activities. He is sorely missed, but the best legacy he left was one of unconditional love, forgiveness, patience, faithfulness, honor and integrity. Services will be held privately. Donations in Walter’s name can be made to Hyder House Hospice in Dover, NH. See OBITS page 30...

Roxanne Jean Price, 68 OGUNQUIT – Roxanne Jean Price passed away peacefully after a long fight with cancer on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born on March 20, 1950 in West Palm Beach, FL to Robert Joseph Price and Jean Johnson Price Miller. She is survived by her
mother and her beloved stepfather, James F. Miller, her long time companion, Christina Wilson, sister, Lucia Kay Price, brother, Mathew Lee Price, and his husband, Joseph Paul Howard. Also, stepsisters, Deborah Adams, Rebecca Groves, Sharon Gaus, and stepbrother, Bradley Miller. Roxanne came to Maine from Florida in the early 1980s and started an antique store, R.S.B.P. Antiques in Bar Harbor. Ever the entrepreneur, she also owned an antique apparel shop known as Roxie’s Recycled Rags. With the late ‘80s came wanderlust and she spent four years in Seaside, OR, only to return to Ogunquit to live out the rest of her life with her companion Christina. During this time she became a photographer of some renown, starting the company Maine Line Photos, and was known as a small items auctioneer on Ebay. Her vibrant love of life, wry
wit and humor, and numerous other passions, endeared her to many. She had requested that there should not be a service, but in lieu of this, that any donations in her name be sent to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074. “The song is ended, but the melody lingers on... ~ Irving Berlin
John Francis Sheehy, 82 WELLS – John Sheehy passed away on August 27, 2018, at his home in Wells surrounded by family. He was born in Boston, MA, on May 1, 1936 and raised in Randolph, MA, before moving to Wells in 1965. John had a vibrant childhood where he discovered his love for sports and outdoor activities including fishing, hunting and eventually riding his motorcycle. From a
young age, John enjoyed playing the piano and expressed his love of music throughout his life, especially playing Irish tunes. He served as an altar boy at his Catholic church and graduated from Thayer Academy in 1955 where he was an outstanding football player before attending Norwich University. He found his love for Maine while spending his childhood summers with his family at their beach house in Wells. In 1960, while working as a lifeguard on Wells Beach, he met his soon to be wife, Marianne. After they wed and moved to Wells, John made his career in road construction as well as carpentry and also deep sea fishing on the “Cap’t Jim out of Kennebunkport. In 1978, John purchased a tract of land in Wells and began building what is affectionately known as the Sheehy Compound. The Compound became his pride and joy and his family
enjoyed year-round relaxing there, playing, and living life to its fullest. Today, grandchildren can be found running around the Compound, riding ATV’s and dirt bikes on the paths or making secret forts in the woods. Throughout his life, John cherished family time and you could always find him cooking dinner, reading a book or completing a crossword puzzle with a Coors in hand. John will be remembered as an Irish soul who was loyal and hardworking with a kind and generous heart.
