Eliot to Host “Wicked Good� Festival Next Saturday ELIOT Always the last Saturday in September, Eliot Festival Day, “Wicked Good� comes to downtown Eliot on September 26. This year’s theme is “Eliot - Wicked Good�. To kick off the celebration, there are Friday Evening Festivities at the Boat Basin. Once again there will be a Chili Cook-off; contact Dana Norton for more information or to be a chili contestant. Other food selections will also be available. Get ready to bop along with “Dancing DJ� Carmen Cronin, as she provides the evening’s entertainment. This year’s t-shirts and sweatshirts

will also be available. The evening culminates with the always-spectacular fireworks, scheduled for 8 p.m.

Saturday begins at 7 a.m. at the First Congregational Church with a Pancake Breakfast. The Colonial Re-enact-

ment hosted by the 2nd Regiment of York County will be in McPherson’s Field all day; cannon shots will be at 9 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. The 5K Road Race starts from the Fire Station at 8:30 a.m. Packets may be picked up Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. or Saturday morning from 6:45 a.m. - 8 a.m. The Flag Raising Ceremony at Hammond Park at 10 a.m., with Rosemary Staples singing The National Anthem, kicks off the official opening of the booths. There are many vendors this year, offering food, drink, crafts, information, and more! There is a Kid’s Corner with events sponsored

by Christian Life Church. Dancing DJ Carmen Cronin, Brixham Danceworks, and Shades of Grass will be providing the day’s entertainment. In a continuing effort to improve the parade, there is another change to parade route this year to make it easier for more people to participate! We will be starting at the Boat Basin to allow for easier lining up and turning around. The parade will kick off at 11 a.m., and will proceed to State Road, pass the reviewing stand across from Hammond Park and end at the Library. Also new this See ELIOT page 11...

The lecture, titled “The Presidents Club: Inside the World’s Most Exclusive Fraternity,� is based on Gibbs’ and Duffy’s book with the same title, which spent 30 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. It was the second of Gibbs’ and Duffy’s best-selling presidential histories, following The Preacher and the Presidents: Billy Graham in the White House (2007). Gibbs is the first woman to

hold the position of managing editor of TIME. She oversees the domestic, international and tablet editions of the magazine, TIME.com, TIME mobile and TIME for Kids.
