the Kennebunk Police Department along with officers from Kennebunkport Police Department (right photo) received the torch at the Wells border and handed it off to the Sheriff’s Department in Arundel. From there, the torch will make its way up route one to
South Portland and then Portland, on to Falmouth, Yarmouth and Brunswick. Other short runs will be taking place across the state. This will be a very condensed version of the usual run. The Torch Run typically has about 650 members of Maine law enforcement running and
covering the entire state. The officers serve as Guardians of the Flame and carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope. Last year, due to COVID-19, the run was virtual. The live run taking place See TORCH page 2...
OPA Extends Halloween Fun with Spooky Film “The Uninvited” OGUNQUIT Ogunquit Performing Arts’ 20th Annual Classic Film Series begins on Sunday, November 7 at 2 p.m. with an atmospheric, English seaside ghost story. “The Uninvited” is a 1944 American horror film starring Ray Milland, Ruth Hussey, Cornelia Otis Skinner and Donald Crisp. The Uninvited was the groundbreaking film that has inspired so many movies following it. While vacationing on the English coast, a pair of siblings from London, a composer Rick Fitzgerald (Ray Milland) and his sister Pamela (Ruth Hussey) purchase a surprisingly affordable and abandoned 18th-century house atop a lonely cliff in Cornwall only to discover
that it carries a ghostly price. The owner, Commander Beech (Donald Crisp), who doesn’t tell the Fitzgeralds everything, associates it with the tragic death of his daughter and is willing to part with it despite his granddaughter Stella’s (Gail Russell) objection. The Fitzgeralds move in and soon find themselves, with the help of Stella, battling
it out with a very prickly ghost, and soon they’re caught up in a bizarre romantic triangle from beyond the grave. While more modern complex horror films have heightened the suspense, this film See FILM page 15...
