Ogunquit Celebrates 30th Annual Christmas by the Sea OGUNQUIT Ogunquit’s Christmas By the Sea weekend takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 9-11. The annual event offers a variety of activities that have become crowd favorites over the years. Some of the events happening this year include: tree lighting, a visit with Santa, kid’s ornament and card making workshop, living manger, concerts, hay rides, story hours, art & craft shows, polar plunge, wine tasting pa-
rades and fireworks! Friday, December 9, the Town Tree Lighting will take place at 8:15 p.m. at Veterans Park. Join in for caroling and warm drinks and cookies. (Weather permitting.) On Saturday, December 10, from 9:30-11 a.m., Santa makes his debut at the Fire Station (School Street). Get there early to see Santa arrive by fire engine. Have a photo taken with Santa and pick it up later at the Ogunquit Camera Shop.
At 11 a.m., visit Taste of the Season at the Dunaway Center, 23 School St, and enjoy a variety of foods from local dining establishments. In the afternoon, the parade, which starts at 3 p.m. from Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, will travel onward to Main Beach. Go Red York County Event to be held at Nonantum Resort KENNEBUNKPORT The 12th Annual Go Red For Women event for York County is scheduled for Wednesday, December 7 at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport. This American Heart Association (AHA) event is focused on raising the awareness of cardiovascular diseases and stroke in women as well as educating the attendees on how to prevent these leading health threats.

Maine survivor Monica Salamone will share her story of surviving a major cardiac event shortly after giving birth to her second child. Monica is one of this year’s Maine Go Red Spokeswomen, one of six women selected to represent the Go Red For Women campaign throughout Maine. Eric Andrews, Chief Banking Officer at Gorham Savings Bank, is the 2016 Event Chairman and has a goal to raise $50,000 and to have 160 attendees at this event. Registration and the silent auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. with educational break-out sessions starting at
5:15 p.m. The dinner and live auction will take place later that evening starting at 6:15 p.m. The 2016 Crystal Heart Honoree is Patsy Aprile, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Southern Maine Health Care. She is a senior healthcare leader who works collaboratively with physicians, staff at all levels and boards of trustees to achieve health care objectives for the York County community. Aprile currently serves on the Board of Directors for Home Health Visiting Nurses and the Board of Directors for Allied Health Resources. She has dedicated her volunteer

31st Annual Christmas Parade is on the March WELLS The Wells Chamber of Commerce announces the 31st Annual Christmas Parade scheduled for Sunday, December 11. The parade steps off at 2 p.m. from the Wells Plaza and proceeds north on Route 1 to the Wells Junior High School. The theme is “Christmas Fun for Everyone�. The Grand Marshal this year is Diana Abbott, a wellknown figure in Wells and the surrounding towns. Diana was an Elementary School teacher from 1962 to 1988. Throughout her career she was actively in-
volved in boards and committees including the York County Child Abuse and Neglect Council, the Senior Center at Lower Village, the Historical Society of Wells &
Ogunquit, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging and the Wells & Ogunquit Outreach Committee. She is currently a volunteer Storyteller at the Wells Public
Library, Ogunquit Memorial Library and the Elementary Schools in Wells, Kennebunkport and Kennebunk. York Hospital in Wells will be serving hot cocoa and cookies in front of the Junior High School gymnasium at the conclusion of the parade . Families, youth groups, civic groups, businesses and individuals are cordially invited. There is no charge to participate.
