PROLOGUE In my architectural philosophy, I go beyond the level of simply creating physical structures and see architecture as a bearer of multiple contextual responsibilities. My conviction that architecture is a unique tool for solving urban problems is reflected in the resonance of Denis Cosgrove's idea that "landscape is a Way of Seeing". In

my design approach, I see the site as a starting point for observing and solving urban problems, delving into

Manhattan Void Vertical cemetery in Manhattan How can a building organize a cemetery in a challenging high-density urban environment? I conceived a raw and simple form to respond to the challenges of the urban landscape. As written in "Crazy New York", in Manhattan's neat urban grid, each plot has a representative of its own attributes, and skyscrapers constantly use height and density as their keywords. The concept of Manhattan's vertical cemetery is based on the transformation of New York's landmark graphics to generate a humanistic monument in Manhattan. Architecture of primitive

The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge located in New York, New York, USA. The bridge crosses the East River and connects the two administrative districts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. It is the southernmost of the four free vehicle bridges connecting Manhattan Island and Long Island. Since its opening, the Brooklyn Bridge has been the city's main tourist attraction and skyline, and has become a symbol of New York City.

Transformed Primitives The figure is originated from the front elevation of The Brooklyn Bridge. A relationship between primitives was established by vertical combination. Further transform the primitives to produce figures which share similarities with each other.Trim and extrude the massing with curved surfaces to create more united extetior surfaces,while keeping original features such as the gaps and patterns.Break the massing into pieces and shift each parts to create neew part to whole relationship. Different patterns and techniques form massings of different sizes, which are classified into different components of the building.

Artificiality in Built Enviornment The idea of our project is a massive massing with arch on bottom,so it can create a large volume at the top but have more void space at the bottom.Through vertical combination of transformed primitives,the building is separated to four main parts with different components. Because of the large column and legs, the ground is designed to provide entrances and exits in lower level. The main entrance an level 1 an bring a large amount of visitors in and out.At lower level there is a auditorium,cafe,and public hall.People could easily reach from the entrance.

Formation Development

Firstly, the basic unit is defined by the grid, and the extracted geometry is limited in the basic unit. Curves spread across the grid, changing. Gradually degrades from curves to surfaces, and then to different mesh sizes. It gradually evolved from 2D to 2.5D, and then evolved into 3D volume with different techniques.

The first floor plan of the vertical cemetery integrates commemoration and practicality. A mourning room provides a solemn place where people can quietly remember the dead and express their deepest emotions. The small screening hall shows the life of the deceased, and people can have a deeper understanding of the life journey of the deceased. Emotional communication is promoted in the chat room, and memories are easily shared in the coffee room. All regions create dignified and warm places to commemorate and cherish life.

The ashes storage layer integrates commemoration and function in a graphic design. The storage area is designed to provide visitors with a solemn and solemn place, so that people can quietly remember the dead and express their deep emotions. The conversation corner provides a private space for people to seek spiritual healing. This area emphasizes the importance of emotional communication, enabling loved ones to find support and comfort in listening and interacting. The entire columbarium creates an environment that is both solemn and welcoming, allowing people to cherish and remember the beauty of the deceased.

The public communication space has a deep emotional resonance and support function. This special area provides an open and welcoming place for visiting family and friends to communicate and share memories of the deceased candidly and in a safe environment. It provides a tranquil atmosphere that encourages the free flow of emotion. The design of this corner is intended to promote the emotional connection between relatives and friends. It is not only a space, but also an emotional communication and support, helping people find comfort and healing in difficult times.

The cemetery's columbarium also resembles Manhattan's grid layout. The skyscrapers in each grid of Manhattan can reflect different attributes in the grid, just like in the grid of the vertical cemetery, each deceased also has its own unique attributes.

Ruins In Between IRELAND Art Cathedral Regeneration In the heart of ancient ruins, we propose a transformative vision - the Crystal Rebirth. This project aims to reimagine the ruins as a vibrant center for contemporary cultural innovation, using the unique form of crystals as the primary architectural language. The design draws inspiration from the inherent beauty and structural complexity of crystals, symbolizing the rebirth of the ruins into a new era of artistic expression. The crystal form, with its multifaceted surfaces, will interact with the natural light, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow within the space, reminiscent of the spiritual atmosphere once present in these sacred architectures. Form, Grid and Space The crystal rough stone is divided into two parts: the crystal and the clay. A grid is assigned to each part based on its shape to control the overall structural form. The vertical axis is controlled by lines 1 and 2, while the horizontal axis is controlled by lines A, B, C, D, and E. The diagonal axis is controlled by lines α, β, and γ. The generated grid is then used to generate and filter internal images, ensuring the production of images resembling crystal structures.

Leaving the street connecting Kells and Stoneyford south to the river, a green slope separates visitors from the perimeter wall closing the priory to the south. A fortunate interruption emphasizes and enhances the wait for discovery, bringing visitors to a meditative, sometimes ascetic, dimension in the hieratic harmony distinguishing the Irish countryside. Here, silence shapes the rural landscape, only interrupted by the sporadic bleating of the herds surrounding the ruins or the call of ravens that live among broken pointed arches and roofless vaults. Once one enters the ring of walls through a small passage along the eastern walls, the complex appears in all its magnificence. An immense waning meadow is surrounded by tall walls with mighty bastions. To the north, overlooking the river, are the vestiges of a church and other buildings.

Landscape

The remnants of the monastery, preserved within the site, now consist mainly of ruins and fragments. These ancient cathedral remains have been reimagined as a venue for artistic dissemination and exhibitions. The dilapidated walls of the site resemble an emerald shell, generating spaces that breathe new life into the ruins through intricate crystalline structures. The polygonal configuration of the crystals enriches the exhibition spaces, offering a departure from conventional exhibition experiences. The internal public spaces integrate the characteristics of the crystal structures, providing visitors with a more layered experience while resting and engaging in conversations.

Form Generation Taking the axis of the jade body as a source of inspiration, our design explored creative ideas of various shapes of blocks, aiming to create a unique and organic combination that integrates ruins, jade, and humans.

Historical Context: Warsaw, historically known as the "Phoenix City", has risen from the ashes of World War II and emerged as a symbol of resilience. The city is a blend of old and new, with historical landmarks nestled among modern skyscrapers. Urban Fabric: The city layout is a mix of medieval street patterns in the old town, neoclassical layouts in the southern districts, and modern grid layouts in the newer parts. Public spaces and parks, like the Łazienki Park, dot the city, yet there's an increasing demand for green spaces as urbanization progresses.

Bicycle-Inspired Design: The pathways, green areas, and seating arrangements mimic the form of a bicycle, with circular gardens representing wheels and linear parks as chains, creating an immersive experience.

Climatic Conditions: Warsaw experiences a temperate continental climate. The demand for outdoor public spaces is particularly high during summer months when residents prefer outdoor activities.

Integrated Cycle Paths: Encouraging sustainable transport, the design seamlessly blends in dedicated cycle paths, which link major parts of the city and also traverse through the green spaces, providing both a recreational and functional value.

Mobility and Connectivity: Warsaw's transportation is highly developed with buses, trams, and a metro system. Bicycle usage is on the rise, with the city investing in bike lanes and bike-sharing systems. Yet, there’s still potential for enhancing bicycle infrastructure.

Multipurpose Zones: The "CycleScape" caters to various activities – from leisurely walks, yoga spaces, and play areas for children, to pop-up markets, cultural events, and community gatherings. It will be a hub of social interactions.

Sociocultural Aspect: With the city's increasing youth population and a trend towards healthier lifestyles, there's a growing demand for recreational spaces that integrate physical activity.

Environmental Sustainability: The project will employ sustainable practices like rainwater harvesting, native planting, and solar pathways. This would not only enhance the urban biodiversity but also reduce the city's carbon footprint.

CONCRETR TO STEEL CONNECTION

Based on an in-depth study of the structure and types of bicycle components, we are able to gain a glimpse into the unique form characteristics of the bicycle structure a s w e l l a s t h e c o re f o rc e m o d e l . This insight is not only limited to understanding the design principles of the bicycle itself, but also provides us with the possibility of applying these principles to other areas.

By analyzing the structure of the bicycle, it can be seen that the coordination and cooperation among the components form a solid and efficient overall system. This system not only focuses on the function of the components, but also emphasizes the interactions between them to achieve the smooth operation of the whole bicycle under various conditions.

This understanding of bicycle structures is applied to the field of architecture in initial attempts and combinations to explore new ideas for building structures. Just as the parts of a bicycle work together to support the operation of the entire vehicle, the components of a building structure are designed to consider synergies with each other to ensure the stability and sustainability of the overall structure.

CONNECTION STUDY The core of the connection method is to use prefabricated steel structure, rivets and reinforced concrete base to realize the connection of components. The prefabricated steel structure provides strong support, and the rivets ensure a strong connection between the components. At the same time, the reinforced concrete base stabilizes the overall structure and provides a reliable base for connections.


Urban Connector Fragment This transit hub space combines urban promenade parks, bus lanes and underground railroads. The walking space on the ground provides a multi-functional communication place for people. Trestle bridges of different heights provide people with a rich experience of passing. Underground rail transit connects all parts of the city, allowing people to move efficiently through the city. This transportation hub space aims to provide the city with diversified transportation methods and promote transportation convenience and urban development.

The core of the structure is prefabricated steel beams, reinforced concrete bases and reinforced concrete columns. The prefabricated steel girders as a whole provide strong support and effectively share the load. At the same time, the reinforced concrete base provides a solid foundation for the whole. Innovation in the City's Cracks

Community Public Space Transformation in Shenzhen, China Over the past four decades, Shenzhen has grown from a small fishing village to China's largest city. As one of the means of stressing millions of migrant workers, one of the most pressing issues facing Shenzhen is the provision of millions of affordable security units in a very short period of time. While urban villages may not be the ideal solution, it is considered extremely effective in solving the security problem. However, urban villages are threatened by a wave of market-driven middle-classization, which could lead them to evolve into an urban fabric that is as monotonous as that of other emerging cities. Our project aims to propose a new live/work/learn system based on the existing urban villages, creating more opportunities for the residents of the urban villages to enjoy a higher level of living by optimizing the industrial structure and production resources within the urban villages. Taking Baishizhou as the project location, it is one of the largest and most typical urban villages in Shenzhen. Baishizhou Village has more than 2,000 eight-story buildings, providing a low-budget community for more than 150,000 residents. Cheap rent and low cost of living are two main attractions for newcomers to Shenzhen. However, Baishizhou Village is now facing the threat of market-driven gentrification, transforming it into a monotonous urban fabric like many other newly developed urban areas. The elimination of Baishizhou Village in Shenzhen will be a huge loss. Due to its high population density and strategic location, it can bring vitality to the city through a variety of functions and extensive social interaction, and provide an ideal initial community for a low-cost lifestyle. Rising housing prices are a strong side effect of urban gentrification. It’s hard to imagine how these migrant workers can survive in a city like Shenzhen without high-density, low-priced urban villages. This project aims to propose a new living/working/learning system in the existing urban village, creating more opportunities for its residents through wealth accumulation in the urban village, providing better functional spaces, and living a more dignified life. life.

Baishizhou is the largest urban village in Shenzhen, with 150,000 residents, including many migrant workers from Shenzhen. It has the largest concentration of peasant housing in Shenzhen, creating a clear sense of urban-rural divide. Some call it the "Africa of Shenzhen", while the surrounding area is considered the "Europe of Shenzhen", as Baishizhou is surrounded by wealthy neighbourhoods. To the east are Happy Valley and Window of the World, to the west there is the Shahe Tourist Complex, to the south it is next to the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base, and to the north it is adjacent to the OCT luxury residential area. This unique fault line makes Baishizhou enjoy a special position in Shenzhen's urban layout.

The existence of urban villages is not only due to their relative labor cost of living, but also because their commercial facilities provide some low-income living environments, attracting a large number of low-income populations from outside the country. In order to meet the needs of the low-income group, the grassroots economy has sprung up in the urban villages This paper takes the old goods trading industry in Baishizhou, Shenzhen, as an example, and through a variety of observations, we delve deeper into the primary situation of the grassroots economy in the urban villages from three aspects, including spatial allocation, supply, and demand.

The distribution of thrift stores can be characterized by three main types: scattered in alleys, located on main streets, and concentrated in centralized alleyways. Of these, about 86 percent of thrift stores are located within alleys, with more than half choosing to locate in these narrow alleyways. In comparison, 14% of stores chose to locate on main streets. In terms of the impact of store location on rents, thrift stores scattered in alleys had the lowest average monthly rents per unit of frontage, while those located in main neighborhoods had the highest rents. Stores concentrated in alleys fall in between. This reflects the impact of rent levels on the choice of store location, with store owners preferring to set up their malls in alleys with lower rents to save on rental costs. The factors of the urban village living area environment combine a number of aspects such as low rent, business environment and commuting, with the business environment being a key component in ensuring the urban village living area environment. In our interactions with store operators, we validated having this perspective and found that the cost of living in urban village living was the primary concern of the operators. However, it is worrying that the owner of a retail store told us that his monthly household consumption in Baishi Chau has reached 10,000 per month If the cost of living continues to rise, he will have to consider leaving Baishi Chau. If the price level within the urban villages cannot be maintained at a relatively low level and sustained with the current living area environment, the micro and small economies within the urban villages will not be able to continue to exist. The reduction in the number of micro-economies will further damage the living environment of the urban villages. Since the existence of micro-economies is necessary to maintain residential conditions, the survival of micro-economies also depends on the support of the full enjoyment of living space. This project aims to provide a platform for Bai Shi Chau residents to start their own businesses, including the establishment of workshops to provide residents with independent workspaces. Through the construction of a public bazaar, we will identify scattered roadside vending points and consolidate them together to improve operational efficiency The rational choice of fault lines will allow the logistics centre to disperse goods throughout the Baishi Chau area. In addition, the project includes a sports platform to provide a suitable place for people to relax and exercise in the densely populated urban village. The plan aims to incorporate new technologies and big data to improve the quality of life for the residents of Baishizhou. Pak Shek Chau's diverse resident groups have their own unique work and life needs. In this project, we are committed to integrating and tapping into these needs to create a new type of production and ecological cycle and functional block in the urban village. The public space in the centre of Baishizhou promotes gentrification and was once a people's commune in Baishizhou village. In order to enhance the vitality of this area, the plan is to introduce a multifunctional building that will transform the square into a new centre for living, and public activity, and a new hub for merchandise, commerce, and continuing education. The building will provide a leased studio and transportation space designed to provide more opportunities for newcomers. The goal of the model is to create a new desert for the modern urban village, providing better living, working and learning conditions for its residents. To this end, the plan includes the introduction of an amphitheatre to provide residents with job guidance, as well as a reading and learning area to provide them with a place to supplement their knowledge. In addition, the plan also includes a fitness and sports area, which aims to provide a convenient place to promote the further improvement of residents' quality of life by redesigning roads within the urban village to address traffic congestion. This comprehensive plan aims to create a vibrant, mixed-use and livable urban village community.

The logistics center efficiently distributes goods throughout the Baishizhou area, providing residents with a convenient lifestyle. Amphitheater The amphitheater provides recreation for residents and energizes the community. The upper level Workshop area, with its well-designed atrium view, will permeate the entire space, allowing you to inspire your creativity while enjoying the wonderful views of the surrounding area. This space is more than just a creative workshop, it is a place where learning and creating come together.

The atrium space is open and uncluttered, maintaining good air circulation through the open-air nature of the space. This spacious atrium not only provides a pleasant environment, but also creates a more permeable view of the adjacent Workshop, allowing creativity to flow freely through the space. By facing the atrium, the design creates a closer connection between the work and the building itself. The interlocking layout with the amphitheater and running track provides multiple levels of socialization and activity for residents, creating a diverse and vibrant community experience.

Focusing on practicality and comfort, the community offers three different types of apartments, as well as a simple and practical rooftop basketball court and recreational sports fields. The rooftop basketball court is a gathering place for community sports, providing a place for residents who enjoy sports to relax.
