What's more, the roof of the building is built into platform available where people can get access through the stairs outside and the stairs in the lobby. There is also a small playground on the roof where people see performers rehearse on the third floor.
FORM DEVELOPEMNT
Two different size auditoriums with vestibules and one outdoor theatre are placed on site. Entrances of the theatre are determined.
On the second floor, a public corridor is used to connect the two auditoriums. There are atriums in vestibules.
Build a stair ramp outside to connect to the second floor space and the third floor terrace. The three-story roof will be a circulation circulation.
Stair ramps are built outside to connect the plaza, the second floor space and the third floor terrace, which form endless circulation.
The void space punched in the building leads people to the waterside.
A courtyard is created above the roof of the big auditorium connected to the platform. The edge facing the city skyline is built into a small stage.

02 EAST HARLEM CENTER FOR ACTIVISM "To see and to be seen"--Projected Screens Group Work in 2020 Duration of the Project: Three Months
The project is located in East Harlem- the cultural haven for immigrants. It is as birthplace of salsa and graffiti movements, the home of dinning landmarks, so we are going to create a place integrating the cultures and welcome people join the community in the building. Our concept is “to see and to be seen”. We present our concept by recreating local people’s life scenes in the social center. Each scene is like a projected screen that projects what the local life is like and what local people do in daily life. The idea diagram starts with five windows, which correspond to event space, and community kitchen, main hall, learning center, kids’ area and art space. Visitors can see what happen inside and take part in the activities. People inside can also see different surrounding scenes. The study model photograph shows the two main entrances and the corridor connecting two parts.

CONCEPT MODEL
The concept model is a wooden photo frame which contains pictures about East Harlem and presents some of them. The model is an analogy of the center of social activism which projects people's life, culture, politics, art etc through big windows.
FORM DEVELOPEMNT
1. Two squares are created-one as civil plaza, one as the extension of the Harlem Art Garden across the street. Two-storey volumes are placed and a diagnal path passes through in the middle connecting the two squares.
AXOMETRIC 1
2. A small volume is added in the small square. A promenade is used to connect the two volumes.
3. Arcs are used to define the edges of several large windows.
4.A circular hole is punched through the promenade to let sky light in. The first storey is set back to highlight the main entrances.
AXOMETRIC 2
5.The roofs above the hall and kids' play area are curved. A skylight is used to let more skylight in.
6.The roof above the hall s covered with solar panels. Another part of the roof is planted with plants to reduce carbon emissions.
WEST FACADE
WEST FACADE(NIGHT TIME)
The lighting of the facade is achieved through a large area of glass curtain wall and strip windows, and the reinforced fiberglass veneer with graffiti-like textiles which echo the local graffiti culture. During the daytime, the curtains in the lecture hall are closed to prevent the light from affecting the performances inside. (as is shown in west facade)
EAST FACADE
EAST FACADE(NIGHT TIME)
The back of the stage is a curved wall, which separates the auditorium space and lower-level community kitchen area. There is a clearstory installed above the kids' area(as is shown on the east facade), which gives light to children's library on the second floor.

03 SHANGHAI PUDONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT A Peak in Shanghai (FGC)/ Group Work Duration of the Project: Two Months
With the expansion of urbanization and the advancement of technology, it will not be a dream for the future airport to be built in the city center. We decided to build Shanghai International Airport in the city center by the Huangpu River , in order to not only meet the needs of the nearby high density population , but also to bring vitality to the international financial region. Nowadays , Shanghai Bund is a window for Shanghai to showcase the cityscapes to the world . On the Huangpu River , shipping and tourism are also prospering . Therefore , the airport will become a part of the urban landscape, which will not block the vertical development of the skyscrapers, but will also provide a new beautiful sight for the Bund. The concept comes from the landscape paintings of the modern artist Zhang Daqian, where free growing clouds surrounding the mountains further enhanced the majesty of them . Our airport adapts to the vertical development trend of high-rise buildings in modern cities and contributes to the city's land saving. Moreover, it symbolizes the everchanging development of the international city, Shanghai. At night, the pure white Airport will contrast with the colorful neon lights in the city

04 SCARBOROUGH COMMUNITY CENTER For Multi-generational Interaction Individual Work in 2022 Duration of the Project: Three Months
Toronto is one of the most multicultural urban areas in the world. Each year tens of thousands of newcomers from around the globe choose the city as their new home. The Parents and Grandparents Program opens once a year. It lets citizens and permanent residents of Canada sponsor their parents and grandparents to come to Canada. Chinese seniors population accounts for 12% in total and is the third largest elderly ethnic group. When coming to a foreign land, they suffer many challenges. Different languages and different cultural backgrounds contribute to gaps among younger generations and older generations though senior immigrants come to Canada for family uniting. How to bridge the gaps is the topic of the studio design. The project is a community center for Chinese senior immigrants in Scarborough. It is a building with five courtyards responding to Chinese traditional architecture type. Chinese art programs and music programs are proposed for cultural spreading from seniors to younger generations. Based on the Chinese supermarket nearby, a community kitchen provides interactions for people in the process of cooking and food-sharing. In addition, seniors-assisting programs are set for better adaptations to life in the foreign land. The right axo shows how the building is connected to the surrounding neighborhood. There are paths connected to the four directions. The west side faces a loop road which is a city main road while on the north are low-density residences. The east side faces a primary school with a playground in front of it. The south side of the building faces large area of green space on which there are two football courts. Go across the courts is a high school with over 1000 students. Research: https://scarboroughchinesecenter.cargo.site/
MULTI-CULTURE & CHINESE ETHNICITY Toronto is one of the most multicultural urban areas in the world. In the Greater Toronto Area, there are 250 ethnicities and 170 languages represented and roughly half the population identified as a visible minority. Each year tens of thousands of newcomers from around the globe choose the city as their new home. 47% of residents in the City of Toronto--the center of the Greater Toronto Area are immigrants and 51.5% population in the area is composed of visible minorities. Among the top 10 mother tongue excluding English, people using Cantonese and Mandarine as mother tongue account for 4.4% and 4.3%, ranking first and second, which indicates population having Chinese origin is the largest ethnic group among all ethnic groups excluding those using English as mother tongue.
Toronto is aging. According to 2016 Census, nearly 15.6% of Toronto’s population is 65 years and older, increasing 1.6 percent point compared to five years ago. It is estimated that the proportion of Toronto’s population over age 65 is projected to grow to 21% in 2036.
Through the introduction of the art and related programs in the community, immigrant elders are able to continue the lifestyle in foreign lands. The culture incorporated would be spread to the younger generations, bridging gaps and in turn activate the olds’ lives. The four traditional arts in China are instruments, chess, calligraphy and painting which are treasures inherited from ancient times. A majority of kids in China are required to learn the skills because parents regard them as ways to cultivate a good sense of asthetics and develop intelligence. When people getting old, it is common to use the skills to kill time with good sentiment.
b
CHALLENGES
c
Multi-generational Gaps Language is believed to be the biggest challenge for many senior Chinese immigrants while Canadaborn Chinese children always have weak language skills in Chinese. Chinese kids born and growing up in Canada mainly receive western education and some of them knows little about Chinese traditions or cultures, which leads to a lack of common language among generations. 75% native-born Chinese youths have Chinese as their mother tongue while 25% have other languages like English, French. The datas indicate though they are not quite engaged in the cultural activities, there is still foundation and opportunity to arouse the interest.
b. Through the diagrams of elders over 65 years old by ethnicities, the area with highest population density was chosen for further discussion. c. The site is the terry park surrounded by a complex of commercial and sport spaces (one is for the nearby elementary school, the two in th south are football courts for high school) The community center is considered as one of the institutions distributed on the green space as the red figures show. The blue one indicates commercial building.
a
Chinese seniors population accounts for 12% in total. The 36, 530 population is the third largest elderly ethnic group only smaller than English and Italian.
LONELINESS SCORE
a. Higher population of Chinese seniors live in Scarborough Agincourt, Scarborough North and Chinatown in downtown.
There is a Chinese supermarket selling fresh Chinese Ingredients within the loop road, based on which a community kitchen can be proposed for people who enjoy Chinese homecooked dishes.
In light of the schools distributed along the green space, there is opportunity for multi-generational interaction as long as introducing elders there.
Near the Norman high school, seniors-asisting programs will be proposed. (High school students are required to complete 40 hours of community service as a graduation requirement, they can asist Chinese seniors with educational programs and other assistance programs.)
The story begins with an old woman pushing the wheelchair for an old man who is a little crippled.
a. The old woman is going to visit her friend's rental house for a duetplay instrument together. She passes by the arena and then finds a seating to sit, appreciating the music created by the perormer who is playing the GuZheng--the most popular traditional instrument in her own country.
d. In the afternoon the old couple pick up their grandchildren from the nearby school and lead him to the community kitchen. Big tables are set for several families to share food. Outside the yard, vegetables are planted in garden beds that people can pick the most fresh vegetables there for cooking.
b. The old man uses the wheelchair by himself through the ramps across the sculpture yard, taking the elevator up to the second floor painting studio. This scenario shows the planters and sculptures in the yard which is connected to the plaza on roof far away.
c. The old man uses brush and ink to draw sth interesting. Behind the circle-shaped screen, several people are appreciating the traditinal drawings posted on the wall.
e. In the next scenario, the grandson is assisting other old man to pick plants, there is a ramp running from the "roof plaza" to the planting yard for convenience of the elderly.
f.After the lunch, the grandpa leaves the community center, the scenario is what is seen in the lobby when passing by. People are sitting on the stairs, enjoyiuung relaxed time.
MIDDLE PARK WITH CHERRY BLOSSOM TREES
g. But the grandma leads the grandchild to the roof for a walk. The ramp connects the basement, first floor and roof level.
h. The scenario shows the grandma holds the hand of her grandchildren walking on the roof plaza. Cherry blossom trees planted below the grade provide a beautiful scenay. The far away folded roof indicates the location of auditorium where art or music performances are shown.
SCULPTURE YARD
The terraced sculpture yard underneath art center represents art sculptures to the community. The ground is paved with bluestone slabs growing moss which is a kind of typical Chinese style pavement. The planters are also serving as seatings.
OUTDOOR ARENA
The facades of the building are regularly divided by vertical bars decorated with horizontal woodeb grills, which are called new Chinese style facades. The ramps of the arena make it easily for the elderly to walk.
05 CO-WORKING ARTIST OFFICE to salute Bauhaus for workshop education model Individual work in 2018 Duration of the project: three weeks
The original idea of the design was to salute the idea of Bauhaus School of Design, where artistic creativity and manufacturing are perfectly integrated. In Bauhaus, all arts including architecture are brought together in its courses. Obviously, Bauhaus is a comprehensive college of arts. Based on this understanding, my design is not supposed to be just a working space, but an incubator for artists, providing space for artists in various categories to communicate and work together. To enable artists inspiring each other in work, I set up a plant building as a shared space, including pottery workshops, carpentry workshops, 3D model printing rooms, painting studios, stage space, etc. Each workshop is provided with the necessary facilities for a particular purpose.
I hope that artists can feel comfortable while wandering in the space, meeting all kinds of artists, witnessing how artworks are born, or participating in different discussion groups to be inspired or inspiring others. Let’s imagine an architect walks in, observes another artist making a wood handicraft, notices the beautiful details expressed in the wood processing and decoration, and suddenly gets an idea about how to make his own design more humanized, which has puzzled him for days. The design referred to the cravings of handicrafts expressed by architects during the period of Arts and Crafts Movement. At the same time, I will use the large square in the site as an outdoor exhibition for the workshop, to exhibit the works artists make in the building .
Site and design process
On the original site lies a plant building and a " L " s h a p e a d d i t i o n a l o ff i c e building
The outdoor platform is extended out to form a square.
The office building beside the plant is removed and the plant building is preserved with original structure and the facade made up of red bricks.
The platform descends with stairs and ramps and a yard is added in the flat volume.
A cube which is similar size as the plant is added into the site and then moved towards the direction of the main entrance of the park
The new building and the factory building are connected with a platform which could be used as an outdoor platform.
The red areas are workshops shared by artists.
The blue areas are standard offices and Auxiliary rooms.

Open boundaries for community Individual work in 2018 Duration of the project: three weeks
06 COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER
When I walked on the street of the community, looking around, I found a few residents talking in the corner of the street and most of people passing by without a pit stop. I began to wonder whether the relationship between them could be brought closer by some architectural means. From a wider perspective, actually the community is a miniature city, and the distance between people in modern metropolitan areas is even more remote.
If we connect the lives of urban people through the opening of communities, would the situation be different? In this scheme, I try to replace the neighborhood boundaries like walls or fences that I see around with a building, which is not only a service station along the city's main roads, but also provides an area of activities that meets people's diverse needs within the community.

The function distribution of the service center depends on the walking routes of people from outside and inside the community. The restaurant and the business district are the intersection areas. In the entertainment area, the library, the business district, the dining room, four sharing spaces where the people may stay for leisure are added respectively – child activity square, the report hall, the coffee shop and the open kitchen.
Site and design process
1 The site is at the junction of the main road and residential areas
2 Various function blocks are arranged in different areas according to their publicity and privacy.
3 Shared spaces are added to these functional blocks.
4 Then a parking lot and circulations of gas station and drive-in restaurant are designed.
5 On the side of the main street, concrete is used as the material of facade.
6 On the side of the community, glass is used as the material of facade.

07 HUNAN PAINTING INSTITUTE RESEARCH CENTER
08 HAND DRAWINGS AND PAINTINGS Pen Drawing/ Pavillion in the Wangshi Garden
A Lakeside Reception Integrating Tradition and Nature Physical Model Making/ Internshi
The pen drawing was done when I took the journey to Suzhou which is famous for the traditional gardens and techniques of integrating landscape and architecture. This is a professional work, and I participated in the design and deepening of the project in Steel Engineering Technology Co.,Ltd. during my internship, I participated in the model making of the project, the model deepening of the local scheme and the initial renderings. At the same time in the actual project, I also learned and drew several tectonic sections. Team member: Tang Yong, Zhu Qipeng, Zhao Pei, Zhou Shengpeng Hunan painting Institute Research Center is located in the southwest of Nanhu Lake scenic spot in Dongting Lake, Yueyang. At present, the surrounding and internal temporary buildings of the plot are messy, which is inconsistent with the Nanhu scenic spot of modern leisure and sightseeing, and the project area lacks the supporting reception facilities of the scenic spot. After the completion of the project, it mainly undertakes reception services, cultural and artistic exchanges, public facilities for citizens and tourists to watch art exhibitions.
HANDWRITINGS AND PAINTINGS The quick hand-drawn task requires examinees to design a leisure center facing a waterscape while preserving two old trees within the irregular property lines. I design buildings around the trees and extend the children's activity center from outdoor activity area in the courtyard, imaging that children can play around the old trees. A platform is set along the lake for people to view the beauty more closely . I drew the left hand-drawn architectural performance drawings in the last two years. In preparation for relevant exams, I had practiced this drawing model for more than half a year, and learned how to quickly review questions, design and then draw planes, facades, profiles and axial maps of an architecture with a pencil in a few hours.
I painted the watercolor paintings and sketches in my teens. I’m adhering to my love of painting all these years and will try to express architecture in future.
