INTRO Hi, I’m Weiwei Zhou. Time goes super fast, I felt that I just finished the portfolio for sophomore, and now I started to make a new one for my third year at SVA. I got Henry Wolf Scholorship last year, so I got a chance to learn more in the honor class this year. This year has been so amazing. I’ve learned a lot and experienced more than whenever in没my life. The only bad thing is that I sleep a little everyday. :)

This project is redesign a poster for an old movie. 8½ is definetely my faborite. 8½ is a 1963 comedy-drama film directed by Federico Fellini. Co-scripted by Fellini. This movie is probably the most potent movie about film-making, within which fantasy and reality are mixed without obfuscation, and there’s a tough argument that belies Fellini’s usual felicitous flaccidity.

I did more than 20 sketches before I really make this poster in AI. I finnally made a decision to make it as a type based poster. And I want bold color and typefaces to support it.

Process 1
This project is package design project, Quim is a hair product brand that I created for this projet. The Quim hair oil can be used as a conditioning, styling and finishing tool. I want to give this brand a fresh and cool feeling, and nice looking of the color as well.

I started the project with hand drawing and LOGO design, I tried a log of different typefaces and patterns for the better looking. I don’t know why I just feel something is not fresh enough for me. So I start to try natural elements for this project.

I choose to use a blue ocean photography as the main design element in Quim’s package, I love the fresh and free feeling of the product. I would love to pay for a hair product like this in the store.

Swedish House Mafia
Before I did this Cd cover design project, I watched a movie: Swedish House Mafia: Leave the World Behind. And it is the reason why I want to design for this band. The legendary Swedes have conquered the planet with their super-high-gloss brand of progressive house music – combining widescreen, heartbreakingly earnest pop hooks with devastating four-on-the-floor beats that stomp everything in their path. They have taken the electronic dance and rave culture by storm, and although the trio has said “Goodbye� to the world...for now...their music, their artistry, and their EDM revolution beats on.

HOLI Festival Holi 2018 will begin in the evening of Thursday, March 1 and ends in the evening of Friday, March 2
The colorful festival of Holi is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima which comes in February end or early March. And this project in Kudos‘s class is to create a poster for this colorful festival. Holi festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of ‘good’ over ‘bad’. The colorful festival bridges the social gap and renew sweet relationships. On this day, people hug and wish each other ‘Happy Holi’.
This ancient tradition marks the end of winter and honors the triumph of good over evil. Celebrants light bonfires, throw colorful powder called gulal, eat sweets, and dance to traditional folk music. --photo of Holi http://www.holifestival.com/lb/en/festival-of-colours/media-centre

Time is personality
Favorite project,ďźŒever! This is a magazine design project, but more like a design work combined fine arts and graphic design. We did sculptures for this project, and learned how to take photos for them, and use these elemnts that created by myself to make a magazine. There are three chapter in it. Time, Shakespeare, and Opera. Olga is a superwomen, she loves arts and music, I am happy to study with her and be the TA for her. I really do learn from her.
We did covers for each project. And I choose to use Time project’s cover to be the one for my printed magazine.

Time is like a women. She is happy. She is reliable. She is mystery. She is selfish.
Shakespeare’s sonnets project We learned how to read Shakespeare‘s sonnets and use the way we read it as part of the design, bring it into this project. The rythm is extreamly beautiful, and it is also a good way to combined with the type design. Olga really know how to teach.
BLUEBEARD’S CASTLE Olga is a romantic lady, she brings different kinds of arts into the class, I read Bluebeard’s castle before, but I did not get the beauty in it. Olga showed us the Opera of Bluebeard, we feel, we learn, we create. I caught the depressed feeling of the story, then made it with my passion.

Known as the writer-director of cerebral, sexually explicit films like “Romance” (1999), “Fat Girl” (2001) and “Anatomy of Hell” (2004), Ms. Breillat insisted that nudity and sex have no place in her favorite childhood fairy tale. In her film the only glimpse of flesh involves Bluebeard’s corpulent torso. But that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t see sex as one of the story’s primary themes.
Perrault’s tale ends with a tacked-on moral about the fleeting pleasures and damning consequences of a woman’s curiosity, but Ms. Breillat favors a Freudian interpretation: the bloody key as a symbolic nod to the loss of the heroine’s virginity.

The Pianist This is a movie poster project again. :) I don’t like this movie because of the depressed mood it gives me. But we have to watch it then make a poster for it. I choose just black and gray to make it as a minimum poster. The story had deep connections with director Roman Polanski because he escaped from the Kraków Ghetto as a child after the death of his mother. He ended up living in a Polish farmer’s barn until the war’s end. His father almost died in the camps, but they reunited after the end of World War II.

DESIGN LOGO FOR YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YGP) I can’t believe that I got a chace to study from Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv in ther company and work with real client as a school student. YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YGP) is the world’s largest global network of dance. It fulfills its mission of dance education through scholarship auditions, master classes, alumni services, educational and outreach activities, performances, and films. YGP is a platform to support and develop world-class dancers, ages 9-19, of all economic, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds by providing scholarship auditions, performance and education opportunities, and by serving as the global network of dance, connecting students, teachers, schools, dance companies, dancers, and audiences.

Opposites poster design
This is the first project we have at Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv, we have to choose two opposite elements to make a poster. The idea of my poster is Peace and War. People see the gun first then realize there is a person doing SHH gesture.
Shakespeare books cover design
Shakespeare’s books Shakespeare is always being one of my favorite writers. I finished reading three of the books for this project in order to make a better cover. Finally I chose to make minimum style for them. I use the elements in the story, if you know the story you will find it. :)

About this project Honestlly, I am not that into this person, but I have to say I always be atractted by his work. To stay at the top of the art game today, some would argue, an artist needs not just talent and a good track record but also a flair for publicity and the support of a powerful consortium of dealers and collectors. Even critical opinion may not count for much, as is amply demonstrated by Jeff Koons, who has been sharply attacked by some of the most respected names since he started showing his work in the early 1980s. This is a loud person, and all his work is bold, huge. I want to make that part into this website design.
I had fun with it I designed three sizes for App, website, and Ipad. This is the first time I do an interaction design project. It was hard but I had a lot of fun.

Psst: a better way to share your feeling
LOGO Basically this is an app that people communicate with your friends in real life without your name. So I tried to put a mask on the chat bubble, to explain what this app can do and what it feels like when you use it on your phone.
Psst app explores how your friends in your daily life really think.
The Story It dosen’t come as a quick idea that like other apps， people chat with anonymous people and hang out together，or all the people who has a secret can share them on a same platform, then everybody can see it and comment on it. Psst is a app only focus on your real friends，every single secret happens on your friend but you don’t know who. I came up with this idea because I personaly really want an app like this in my phone, I really do have some own secrets want to share but I don’t want anybody know that I have a problem like this. Here is the moment I would use this app. When I dinished share my secret, I can get some feedback from my real friends, I can know what do they really think instead of some comfort words or lies.
About this app This is an app that people can share their secrets in their firend circle. You can easily log in this app with your facebook acount and post your secrets anonymously to all your facebook friends. They will never know who posts the secret. Psst gives people a private place to share their feelings and their own secrets that they don’t want to tell anyone but have to release.
Redesign a bad app
GOsva It is a bad app As a student in SVA, I have to say, our app is super bad, exreamly hard to use. It doesn’t have enough imformation that students need, and not eve functional. And as a deaign school app, this app is UGLY.
Student work as backgroud The best part of the redesigned version is, students can submitt their works to “win� the log in page background! This bG would chage once a week or maybe once a day if students all participated in this event. It is also a good way for student to show their best work to all school stuff.
Through the new GoSVA, students can view details of their course schedule, contact their classmates and instructors, check their grades and keep track of their account balances, holds and other important notices. There’s a searchable email directory of students, faculty and staff and a College-wide list of emergency phone numbers. Faculty and students who use the College’s Canvas learning management system for online critiques or resources can connect while on the go.
Brush! It is a kids app I awant to try to do some fun staff in this project, so I made a little game app for kids, BRUSH can teach little kids how to brush their teeth.
I started to draw sketches for this app, try to see things as a child, what would I love to play with as a little kid, what kind of color, illustration, and the process of how to use this app. And I also have to concern about how it will be find in app store by the parents.
First time to make a vedio of my app I have to say, this is my first time to make an app for vedio of my app. I SUFFERED a lot. It was just no sleep everyday. In the end the vedio was still a little bit poorly designed, but I’ve already submitted on behance, and we did the final presentation at Google. I loved this exprerience.An I think I will do better in the future.
POlitics app design
Politic and life This is a group project that was not usually what we do at school, I don’t know much about politics, so I read and learned on the internet, and our group went outside made interviews with different persons at Madison Park in order to know more about what people really care about. They care about politic news, Donald Trump, but mostly how politic will effect their own lives.
So we made CIVI, it is an app that people can see new bills and participate with each one, they will get more personal imformation if they set up advanced function, the more personal imformations they put in the app, the bill shows up everyday will be more related to you personaly. Then you can really see what will happen to you if the bill will pass in the future. And your voice here will be heard.

The brave story of Me After Effect is a disaster for a freshman like me. I watched a lot tuterial vedio in order to make motion graphic design. Now I know basic AE skills, at least I can make design work alive as a vedio. :)
Character profile Name: Me Age: 21 Me is a cute creature. Maybe come from another world. This is 啊motion project that tell 啊a story with 3 key words of character’s personality. My 3 words are: Different, independent, brave. And Me is this kind of “person” .
I did a lot vedio this year, but it looks bad in printed book, So this motion section is way shorter than other sections. I would love to share my vedios with everyone. Hope chairman will accept ipad portfolio in the future.
