MONDAY, AUGUST 27 OPENING DAY
After residence hall check-in, families are asked to park in designated parking areas in the Science Center Meadow or the Davis Parking Facility. There will be a continuous shuttle between the Campus Center and the East Side Residence Halls with multiple stops on campus between 8am–5pm.

9am-1pm Computing Help Desk Express The Wellesley Connection Guide in your Orientation packet tells you how to get your computer or other wireless device (mobile phone, tablet, game console, etc.) online. Visit the following locations to meet with Help Desk staff and ask any basic questions you may have about the Connection Guide. McAfee, Munger, Pomeroy, Stone-Davis and Tower Court Living Rooms 9am–5pm College ID/One Card processing Wellesley College ID cards will be processed here throughout the day. Welcome Lunch for Students and Families New students and their families are invited to enjoy a light healthy lunch, provided by the Office of the Dean of First-Year Students. 11:30am–1:30pm, Lunch available in the Bates Dining Hall and the Alumnae Ballroom Family Welcome Wagon As you start to settle in, family members and students are invited to the Campus Center to start their Wellesley experience. Members of many administrative offices and some student organizations will be available in the Wang Campus Center to answer general questions and provide an overview of services and programs for our students. Meet Wellesley College representatives and upperclass students to learn about computer support, cultural advising, religious and spiritual life, student government, student financial services, advising and academic support, dining services, and other areas of interest.

She’s Leaving Home: Changing Relationships Dean of First-Year Students Lori Tenser and Stone Center Director Robin Cook-Nobles talk with parents about the changing nature of parent-daughter relationships, and how to provide support and encouragement during the first year.

Wellesley Academics 101 Director of Advising and Class Dean John O’Keefe will provide families with an overview of the Wellesley curriculum and lead a discussion about how parents and other family members can support their new Wellesley student in academic work in the first year and beyond.

Talking about Money Members of the Student Financial Services Staff will discuss how parents can help daughters learn about college expenses and how to manage their money, suggest ways that families can converse together about finances, and help parents think about what to do if a family’s financial situation changes during a daughter’s time at Wellesley. The session will review Student Financial Services policies and procedures, as well as opportunities for student employment.

Economics Professor Ann Velenchik, Director of the Writing Program, talks with us about Wellesley academics and provides guidance for thinking about the first semester’s courses, and how they will connect to the rest of your life at Wellesley.

All incoming students are required to take the 90-minute quantitative reasoning (QR) assessment during Orientation. Students who do not pass the QR assessment are required to take QR 140 (Introduction to Quantitative Reasoning) in their first year. Passing the QR assessment is a prerequisite for many introductory courses.

This program will help you to understand our community’s focus on crime prevention, enchancing your personal safety and the safety of others, and the resources available to help you with these issues.

Meet Nancy Baden, RN, Community Outreach Nurse Educator and Megan Edwards, Staff Psychologist and Assistant Director of Groups and Outreach at the Stone Center Counseling Service. Get tips on self-care, and learn when and how to seek care at the Health or Counseling Service including accessing after-hours urgent care. Then build your own self-care survival kit with lots of free goodies, including over-the-counter medicines, earplugs to help you sleep, tea, vitamin c-drops, thermometers, and more!

Meet the members of the Religious and Spiritual Life Team, and find out more about student involvement in the religious and spiritual organizations and the Multifaith Council on campus. Welcome to Get a Clue, Nancy Drew: the Wellesley College Campus Scavenger Hunt!
This event will take place on Tuesday morning and you will complete it with your Mentor Groups. As you complete the tasks below, you will receive a stamp from a student leader. Once you receive 6 stamps and solve the final clue, take your booklet to the final destination and collect your water bottle, provided by the Office of Sustainability. Lunch will be served in the Academic Quad after this event. We hope that this activity will help you get to know your campus and have some fun!

4:30pm Convocation The entire campus community joins for the traditional academic ceremony marking the opening of the school year. Gather at the Davis Plaza with faculty and staff to partake in an afternoon snack following your first day of classes, then process to the Hay Amphitheater.
MOLECULE MADNESS + SENSES GONE WILD In the Science Center you can go to class, find your professor in his or her office, study with friends in the Sage Lounge, grab a snack in the Leaky Beaker, and take many of your self-scheduled exams at the end of each semester. You can also go outside and visit the Botanic Garden and the Whitin Observatory. Both are located near the Science Center.

PUZZLE OF FAITH + FACE THE COOKIE In the Chapel you can spend time in the Multifaith Center Gathering Space and Main Room, meditate in the lower level Meditation Room, attend Flower Sunday and other Wellesley events in the Houghton Chapel, and walk the labyrinth set up on the Chapel floor.
