Wellington College Bangkok. A name that implies the vibe that we are only about students. Yet there is even more to our amazing campus We have a wide range of trees, shrubs, bushes, and even a lagoon for various fish and snails to thrive in here at our school. In the seven years we have existed, there have been various sightings of animals around our school A couple of years ago, a tortoise appeared on our football field and a security guard had to come and carry it of the school premises! Our science teacher Ms. Upton used to run an enrichment called bug club, where students would use magnifying glasses to observe insects and bugs that are living in our school. This year, Ms. Rickaby spotted a pink spotted dove perching on a tree near the skylight building, and last year we saw a green woodpecker on a tree near our playground! The marks it left are still visible today! Multiple centipedes, millipedes, and worms are also calling the Wellington grounds home!
The dirt that is used to plant our trees here at WCIB is rich in nutrients and is damp and moist (courtesy of our gardeners watering them every day!). Garden snails are also popular after the rain has stopped pouring! Please be careful and look at where you're walking because we do not want to harm these creatures. Many people are afraid of insects- which is totally understandable! – but these creatures are probably more afraid of you than you are afraid of them! Apart from millipedes, centipedes, snails, worms and birds, we also see spiders and beetles! If you see these animals, please don’t try and touch them, unless, for example, you find an injured bird You must then ask a teacher to help you transport it to somewhere safe. I hope you have learnt something from this article!

Our galaxy is in the Milky Way and the Milky Way is in Space. There are 8 planets and 5 dwarf planets, and there is one Sun and it is 4.6 billion years old.
Jupiter is the biggest planet and Saturn is the second largest. Mars is the red planet and Venus is the hot planet, Uranus is a cold planet. Neptune is the windiest planet and Pluto has blue skies and red snow. Haumea spins so fast that it’s in an oval shape.
Ceres is a dwarf planet in the astroid belt and it’s dark with bright spots. Vesta is the largest astroid in the solar system. Pluto, Eris, Make-Make and Haumea is in the Kuiper belt. The Kuiper belt is next to Neptune, the Astroid belt is between Mars and Jupiter.
When the Sun was born, Jupiter was born after but then the Sun’s gravity was pulling Jupiter in. Then, Saturn was born to suck Jupiter back into it’s place.

Gravity is a force pulling us on to the ground and Mars has 1 third of Earth’s gravity. Jupiter has an iconic, red spot which is really, really stormy.
The outer planets are JUPITER, SATURN, URANUS AND NEPTUNE. The inner planets are EARTH, MARS, VENUS AND MERCURY. The outer planets have rings and Saturn’s ring is the biggest

Let’s start off with... Japan!
Japan is famous for its food, history, sakura and tea ceremonies. Japan’s food often includes rice or noodles, and bento boxes are a common part of Japanese cuisine. Japanese people often eat their food using chopsticks. Sakura - also known as cherry blossom - is a famous flower in Japan. They only bloom in the new year, so they represent a rebirth and a new start. During the cherry blossom season, Japan introduces many cherry blossom style sweets (such as mochi, kit-kats and sakura jelly) and people go out on picnics to admire the cherry blossom. Japanese tea ceremonies are traditional cultural activities presenting matcha (powdered green tea) It represents mindfulness, peacefulness and the appreciation in the beauty of how simple it is. They often take place in small rooms which are specially designed tearooms with a bamboo floor. It includes elements of Japanese culture including flower arranging, art and cuisine.
Next stop... Thailand!
Thailand has had a rich trading history since the Ayutthaya period including food, art and architecture. During the Ayutthaya period, trading was essential as many countries would come from around the world to trade with each other We used to trade most commonly with Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal and England. Three of the most famous Thai foods are pad kra pao, tom yum and pad Thai. Thai food is sometimes spicey, sour or even sweet but almost all the time has a kick to it!

Coding is awesome! It’s all about how things move by using pieces! It can also be in devices called python coding! Read on!
When coding, we need to pick the right pieces so we can make our figure move the right way we want. There are different types of pieces when coding! So cool, right? Plus, it’s all about technology! That’s why coding is important. Coding can be toys or on devices like Scratch or Matatalab!

Want to hear some trivia about coding? According to most estimates, only a small percentage of the world population actively codes, with figures often cited around 0.5% of the global population having coding skills! I have another one! According to recent data, there are approximately 26.3 million people who are software developers worldwide, meaning that many people globally use coding, with this number expected to grow to around 29.3 million by 2027! Cool, right? I have TONS of coding toys and one on my mom’s iPad!
Do you know python coding? Well, it’s some sort of coding in devices! People that are smart know lots about this!

April Fool’s Day is on the 1st of April every year. The day originated somewhere in the 16th century when a pope changed the calendar in France. According to my research, April 1st used to be the first day of the year but the pope changed the date to January 1st. The news spread across France and people called April 1st the “old new year” as a joke. Because of this, people nowadays like to play jokes on each other!
Here is a list of pranks ⬇
· Clean Oreo Scheme
The Oreo scheme is when you take the cream out of the Oreo and change it with toothpaste.
· Died Hair This prank is extreme but the funniest. It’s basically putting hair dye in the shampoo to change the color of someone’s hair!
· Toyoda
Tell someone you’re giving them a Toyota but give them a toy yoda.
· No More School
On the day before April 1st say you’re leaving your school and don’t come to school on April 1st.

· New Year, New sleep
Wake someone up and shout “Happy new year!” and tell them they slept through the countdown.
· Ghosty Jokey
Tell them a scary story and change it to funny at the end.
· Pop corn
Tell someone you made popcorn and give them a pop drink with corn inside.

DAD JOKES FOR KIDS
LOOKING FOR EMILY
Looking for Emily is about a girl named Lily who just moved to the seaside town of Edge. One day, she stumbles across a rundown museum called the museum of Emily. Emily was a girl who seemingly vanished many years ago without leaving any trace. Curious to find out more? Grab a copy of this book from the library
By Kin
This is a very funny book and if you read it to your friends, you might be able to call them out for laughing at a dad joke. This is a book of jokes with categories - some of the jokes need to be directed at friends and some you can read yourself. I personally recommend that you read it with your friends.

The Year 5 residential (from my perspective).
Ok welcome to MY article. This one is about the Year 5 residential - so here goes...
DAY 1
I was a little guy that was VERY exited for this trip, so I said to my mother “Goodbye!” and set off to Ayutthaya. When we were on the bus, I was sitting with my friend on the back of the bus and it was chaotic - trust me! After, on the bus we reached a gas station and then the Phom Phet Fort. At the Phom Phet Fort, we met the people that organised this trip. Then we had a snack - we had massive ham and cheese sandwiches not to brag or anything though. Right after that, we went to a Japanese village so we could learn about the history of the village itself and when it was founded. We then hopped on the bus again and went off to eat at a rice shop! After waiting for the others to finish eating, we went to the market nearby to buy things but I only bought the annoying chicken and a mouse that comes out of the cheese and that’s about it
After we walked into “Wat Phra Sri” I don’t think we did much there but we did get a cool picture! On the bus we well talked a lot We then went to the brick maker so basically - long story shortwe learnt about how she makes bricks and how TO make bricks. Of course I did not go because I would get dirty, slimy feet. Then we took the bus again to our hotel, which was great news for my dead legs after walking about 1billion steps So we took our keys and got to see our roommates. Mine was ok - maybe I won’t tell you the full thing - but yeah, we played Uno No Mercy and got 34 pulsed and for those who don’t play Uno No Mercy – If you have more than 25 cards you instantly fail and you lose, so I got pretty much annihilated. I met my neighbours and went outside for the “Raffa Raffa Game”. During dinner, I got home sick but cried it all out. Soon after we showered and caught some Zs

DAY 2

By Gain
I woke up, said hello to my neighbours and did my regular morning routineexcept for watching tv. After that nonsense, we all came out for breakfast. Mine was a nice sandwich! So, we went to a bus and went to a local school where we painted, played some games and planted some plants. After all that, we hopped on the bus and went to a river that felt like forever. Then we hopped on the boat and set sail! We started with looking at something in the river and played a fun game called “Captains Coming!” which has a lot of rules, which I won’t explain. We then traded rocks and, trust me, there were lots of scammers. We also made some maps with things we saw. After all that, we came back from the boat and swam for - I actually I don’t know how long - but it was fun We then got dinner and a had talent show which was called Campfire and it was fun! Then to sleep.
DAY 3 (Last day)
We woke up, we ate breakfast, we checked out the hotel, we played games and we traveled to Wat Chai Watanaram. We then looked around the place and ate a snack. We then wrote something in our journals and we came to school. Then we left school!

Weather

Understanding Weather:
Weather affects our daily lives, from deciding what to wear to and our plans of the day. It refers to the atmospheric conditions in a specific place at a particular time, including temperature, humidity, wind precipitation and pressure systems etc.
These elements interact to create the weather:
· Temperature describes how cold or hot it is.
· Humidity is the amount of a thing called water vapor.
· Wind moves air across the Earth.
· Pressure systems affect weather patterns, with high-pressure bringing clear skies and low-pressure often causing storms.
Weather forecasting has improved thanks to technology, but it’s still a challenge. Meteorologists use satellites, radar, and weather stations to predict upcoming conditions. While weather is short-term, climate refers to long-term patterns of weather in an area.
Extreme weather events like hurricanes, tornadoes, and blizzards can cause significant damage, and climate change is making some of these events more intense. Advances in artificial intelligence and satellite technology are making weather predictions more accurate, helping us better prepare for the future.

In this article, you'll find hotels that you know your family will not let you sleep in but, since you can't go there, you might as well see what’s they’re like!!
This is a recommended article.
The most expensive/luxury hotel room in Thailand is the Four Seasons on Koh Samui. But it’s not the most expensive in the world. The most expensive is….Lovers Deep-Luxury Submarine Hotel at a whopping $150,000 for one night. In THB that is 5,049,000 which is almost 6 whole years of tuition fees to learn in Wellington and 101 years in Thai school which is way more than average man’s life.
The only 7-star hotel in the world is the Burj Al Arab in the city of Dubai! It’s on its own man-made island. Known for its “half – floor rooms” meaning one room is half of the whole floor, there is even gold coffee for 676 baht Some people say it’s good, but some people say it’s money-wasting and not worth it. The reason why it’s so expensive is because they have 17 types of pillows and they literally need a menu for them. Their world-class spa is set 150m above the Arabian Gulf. It has exceptional service and its opulent design and luxurious amenities set it well above other spas. This hotel has proved that its 26 years of experience has not been ruined.

By Prompt
Now, my favourite country is Japan and there is a hotel so close to Mount Fuji that every picture you take is LEGENDARY and UNFORGETTABLE. Ryosha Tsukiakari costs 33,000 baht per night and has free breakfast, an amazing spa, big rooms and attentive staff during the day and night. This hotel’s price might not be as shocking as the other ones but you can visit because its not as expensive as the other ones. Thank you for reading my article I hope you enjoyed this.

Minecraft is a famous game that was created by Nortch. Minecraft began in 2009. There are many modes you can do. There is survival, creative, adventure and hardcore and lastly is spectator. In survival you need to survive from mobs and avoid night-time. Be careful with your hunger - when you runout of hunger bar you will slowly lose health. In creative mode you cannot die. You will also have infinite block, you can fly and mobs won’t attack you. In adventure mode you cannot break blocks or even place blocks but you still can hit players and mobs. In spectator mode you can go through blocks and you are invisible. Hardcore mode is just the same as survival but when you die you restart.

Get to know our teachers and their history as one!
By Bonny

Our teachers are the reason our parents have put us in WCIB. In this article, you and I will find out more about their histories as teachers and why they decided to become one!
#1: Did you always want to become a teacher? If not, why?
Mr. Kertesz: Not at all. I was in finance at first for 7 years in an asset management firm. I didn’t like the day-today life of working in finance which let me use my other passion. My favourite subject to teach is math, which is why I became a teacher. To me, financial work wasn’t very fulfilling, and I enjoy teaching much more.
Mr. Hetherington: Yes. I worked with children teaching sport as part of my university degree and enjoyed it immensely. It then led me to realise that this was what I wanted to do as my career for the rest of my life; teaching also led me to meet my wife
Mr Dass: Yes, I always wanted to be a teacher Originally, I wanted to be a secondary history teacher, but then after spending a week with a year 2 class, it changed my mind to teaching primary
Ms Upton: I did not I wanted to be a vet, then a marine biologist I went to university to study Biological Science with Zoology and then got a job in a safari park I worked in the education department in the safari park and realized that teaching was what I loved! So, I studied to become a teacher and the rest is history
#2: What was your craziest experience as a teacher?
Ms Rickaby: I was a student teacher, and I was teaching a Year 1 class At break time, they all ate an unidentified green vegetable They came back after break, and I was teaching a Maths lesson There is something you need to learn about me as a teacher I HATE VOMIT Suddenly, from the back of the classroom, one of the children vomited It was projectile vomit and bright green I was horrified and immediately asked the ALT to remove the child from the classroom. A cleaner was called to clear up the vomit, but, before they could arrive, another child began to vomit onto the carpet. Before I could call for help, multiple other children started vomiting. It was bright green and chunky. I was mortified. It turns out, whatever they had eaten at break time, was raw when it should have been cooked.
Mr. Hetherington: Once when I was teaching in the UK, on a hot summer’s day, we had pushed open the classroom door to let some fresh air in. In the middle of my maths lesson, a bird flew in and started flying around all pupils’ heads! Instead of being calm and sensible, the children in my class started screaming and knocking over chairs to start hiding underneath the tables! The bird got scared and flew around the room faster and faster. I was worried it was going to hurt itself! Finally, the bird perched on the top of the display board. Me being the calm person I am, I asked the students to leave the classroom and jumped and waved around the bird until it left the classroom.
#3: What do you enjoy most about teaching?
Mr. Kertesz: Passing knowledge onto others and the lightbulb moment on a student’s face when they finally understand something.
Mr. Hetherington: Working together as a team to solve problems and learn together.
Mr Yogi: I love being able to teach students about new technology and science because it’s going to be so important in the future
Ms Rickaby: Children can be very entertaining

This is called the poop museum. It is a type of museum that is in Japan and about poop.
But don’t worry it’s not real poop - it represents a Japanese cartoon character.
This is the first part of the museum - we can make our own poop, but the staff will explain all the instructions to make the poop appear.
1, we need to say the staff's magic word.
2, we need to press as hard as we can.
3, in 321 the poop will come out.
This is the poop meeting area, and they have their own character some of them also wiggle its tail automatically.
