WELL DONE! Maladaptive Daydream by K.G. Munro

Maladaptive Daydream by K.G. Munro

Zoning out without consent

As your mind grabs you from reality

Pulling you into its confines

A secret garden with monarch butterflies

The shield behind your brown eyes

Because the truth is terrible

In this place, you are free of pain,

Where you can eat whatever fruit you like

Poverty isn't a thing here

This wilderness has violets, columbine flowers, and many other wonders in it

Each step is another breath that you've been holding

As turquoise grass tickles your skin

You admire an endless crystal azure lake

Filled with life and not trash

Flashes of your TV appears

The jaded blue glow, a haunting contrast

Against this warm and vibrant garden

As your mind wills it away,

Because it is a symbol that reflects the truth

Unlike this fantasy that distracts you

Without its presence, you continue to explore

Falling deeper into your fractured psyche

The birds chirping is the theme song of your insanity

As you lay on the living room floor surrounded by needles

Your body, just a shell of a broken soul

Trying to survive on dreams and nothing more.
