Darcie is in her second year at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she is studying classical trumpet. Although she feels it is fair to say that the journey for her has been rocky at times, she has learnt a lot and is looking forward to sharing her experiences with the Upper Sixth.
At Wells Raphael took A levels in Music, Maths and History of Art alongside acting as Concertmaster of the SO and SCO, String Captain and Music Captain. He then lived in Brooklyn NYC for a year, where he completed his first year of undergraduate studies at Mannes School of Music before transferring to UNCSA in North Carolina for his second year.
Bernice Ooi is a violinist in the Royal Swedish Orchestra, and concertmaster of the Malaysian Bach Festival Orchestra. She performs regularly with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Ensemble Virama. She was previously a core member of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in Japan and Assistant Concertmaster of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

Rachel is a final year student at the Royal Veterinary College scheduled to graduate this summer as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Pathology. Rachel can offer insights about life as a scientist at university and, as she will finish her finals two days before this event, she will be a great person to talk to about time management and independent study.
Having left Wells in 2019, Sam took up a place at Cambridge University to study medicine, and has just finished his first year. Outside of his degree, he has been playing hockey for University teams - he says that the last year has been hard work but he has loved every minute of it!
Crystal Li is from Hong Kong and is currently enrolled as a first-year student at Goldsmiths, University of London where she majors in Media and Communications (BA). With her degree, she plans to apply for an Editorial Internship at Vogue Hong Kong and aspires to pursue a career in the entertainment industry after graduation.

Francesca is currently an Investment Banking Associate at Goldman Sachs and covers Emerging Markets. She has been in this role for three years, prior to which she spent two years in the legal team at Goldman Sachs. She left Wells Cathedral School in the summer of 2012 and subsequently attended Exeter University where she studied History before graduating in 2015.
After leaving Wells in 1976 and graduating with a degree within geography in 1979 Kevin joined Gallaher Tobacco as a graduate trainee. After a series of placements across the business he developed an interest in logistics and has remained in that profession ever since. He has been Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport since 2015.
After leaving Wells in 2004, Fleur took a year out to travel around India and then went on to study Law. As part of her degree, she undertook work experience for a charity helping them with a big fundraising event and realised that this, rather than law, was the profession for her! After finishing university, Fleur pursued a career in corporate events and has worked in the UK, US and Australia.

Wednesday 10th June Physics Introduction to Theoretical Physics (Part 1 of 2) In 1905 Einstein published his paper ‘On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies’. In this two part series we will look at Einstein’s theory of special relativity and how it can reconcile the apparent paradox resulting from viewing electromagnetism in different frames of reference.

History Academic Research at University A look at empiricism - how original historical research is created using primary sources. Chris Eldridge will use the case study of his dissertations on the First World War.

When Meg left Wells, she began her art foundation course at Plymouth College of Art. Here, she was introduced to the many opportunities and different degrees that she could take to help her enter art world. After completing her foundation year, she went on to study Illustration at Falmouth University, where she is about to start her third and final year.
Elli joined Wells for Sixth Form as a Specialist Musician and after taking her A levels (English Literature, Maths and Music) in 2018, she worked for a year in the theatre in Frankfurt, Germany. Being part of a professional team and going to work everyday was a great experience, but not always easy! She is currently studying Arts and Sciences at UCL in London.
Finn was a chorister (Head Chorister in his final year), later becoming heavily involved in first team sport and drama. After school, he returned to choral singing and took two years out singing with Portsmouth Cathedral and Wells Cathedral. Finn is now entering his third year at York University studying music and is looking forward to singing at York Minster from September.

Saturday 13th June Transition to HE - Adulting and Mental Health 11.00am
Dr Dom Thompson
Dominique is an award winning GP, young people’s mental health expert, TEDx speaker, author and educator, with over 20 years of clinical experience caring for students. She was named Bristol Healthcare Professional of the Year in 2017. She is author of The Student Wellbeing Series (Trigger Press), a short series of guides for young people aged 16-25 about mental health, wellbeing and life at university, and co-author of How to Grow a Grown Up (PenguinRandomHouse), a book for parents, carers, teachers and anyone working with young people, about raising independent and resilient young adults ready for the challenges of the 21st century. Dom has done two TEDx talks about young people’s mental health and wellbeing; ‘What I learnt from 78000 GP consultations with university students’ (about perfectionism, competitiveness and the pressures of being young today) and ‘Understanding Why’, looking at why young people selfharm. She is also a co-author of Student Mental Health & Wellbeing in Higher Education: A practical guide (Sage). Dom is a Clinical Advisor for NICE, the Royal College of GPs, the Anorexia Bulimia Care charity, and for Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity. Having done Italian and French for A level, Alice planned to read for a BA in French and Italian at Cardiff, but changed to French and Spanish in her second year. She studied abroad in France and Spain spending winter at the UniversitĂŠ Savoie Mont Blanc, and spring at the Universitat de Vic. She now works as a Vendor Management Coordinator for Conversis, a translation company.
Sarah took the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) in her university holidays. She went on to teach English in the UK, Turkey, Portugal, Brazil, New Zealand, Mexico and Senegal, progressing to Senior Assessment Manager for IELTS and Mentor for Future Learn MOOCs. Sarah works freelance on proofreading, editing and EFL projects in Dakar, Senegal.
After 10 years as an Army Officer Tom joined The Swire Group and spent 30 years based out of Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific. He has lived and worked in various countries around the world - China, USA, India, Korea, Italy, the Middle East, South Asia and Africa. Tom helps companies to develop in international growth markets and as an Executive Search Consultant.

Alastair took his A levels at the Army Sixth Form College, Welbeck. He was commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps where he served for 20 years. A multiple times Army and National Skydiving Champion and BASE jumping World Champion, Alastair has a slight inclination to defy convention - this is reflected in his varied entrepreneurial journey.
Gabriel is a filmmaker and photographer with a multidisciplinary creative background. He created multiple successful short films which have received national coverage and had professional photography credits for The Telegraph, Time Out and the Evening. He runs a number of video production companies, making music videos, corporate films and animations.

Cian Ducrot (OW 2017) Cian continued his musical studies at the Royal Academy, but has since made his name as a songwriter, singer and self-taught pop producer. He left the Academy to pursue this as a career full time at the end of his second year and has since produced his own EP, recently released online. Cian has a significant following on social media, which is key to his entrepreneurial model.

Tara is in her final year of her BSc Psychology degree at Sheffield Hallam. She has accessed her university’s support services (in the form of learning adjustments, assistive technology, support workers and wellbeing advisors) and the Disabled Student Allowance for dyslexia, dyspraxia and mental health difficulties. Tara believes such support to be a vital resource for students.

Before joining our Learning Support team, Mrs James worked as a Specialist Support Lecturer and Diagnostic Assessor in the Student Services department of a Welsh university, specialising in support for Specific Learning Differences, Autism Spectrum and Mental Health. She continues to assess students for SpLD to assist them with accessing DSA (Disabled Student Allowance).

Philip studied Business Management at Surrey University where he was diagnosed with dyslexia in his final year. Upon graduation, he embarked on a career in business development working for some household names like Allianz and RAC. He is now Managing Director of his own company, which offers consultancy services to companies looking to grow or to establish themselves in the UK.
