Main Street in New Hope
This small river town with a big city feel is home to America’s most famous summer theater, the Bucks County Playhouse and a vibrant dining scene, including steak and seafood at Oldestone and a speakeasy-style whiskey bar at the Logan Inn. Founded by William Penn in 1684, Newtown remains one of Bucks County’s most historic downtowns. Both are located on seat of Bucks County in 1813. Today, it is scenic State Street. PINE VALLEY, New Britain Built in 1842, this bridge crosses the Pine Run Creek and is also called “Iron Hill Bridge.”
The shortest bridge in Bucks County is noted for its lattice-type construction.
FRAN ENFIELD, Erwinna
Built in 1872, it spans 130 feet over Tinicum Creek, two miles upstream from the point at which the creek empties into the Delaware River.
NECHT’S, Riegelsville Also known as “Slifer’s Bridge,” Knecht’s is built of hemlock and crosses over Durham Creek. The bridge sits in a fertile valley where German settlers established homesteads in the early 1700’s. LOUX, Pipersville
Built in 1874 at 60 feet long, it is the second shortest bridge in the County. It is built of hemlock, which was once plentiful in the area, and is for foot traffic only.
Built in 1874, it crosses one of the principal watersheds in the northwest of the County, the Perkiomen Creek.
SCHOFIELD FORD, Richboro
At 170 feet long, it is the County’s longest bridge and only one not painted. The bridge lies within Tyler State Park and is open only to foot and equestrian traffic.
SHEARD’S MILL Quakertown
Built in 1873, this bridge stretches 130 feet over Tohickon Creek.
SOUTH PER ASIE, Perkasie
Originally spanning Pleasant Spring Creek, this bridge was moved to the safety of Lenape Park in 1959.
UHLERSTOWN, Erwinna
Built of oak in 1855, it is the only Bucks County covered bridge over the former Delaware Canal.

The design of this castle is based on a fortress in Bratislava. Taste European classics like Pinot Noir and Riesling with views of the Delaware River here. Explore the remnants of a long-forgotten summer camp or see migrating waterfowl at this 5,000-acre park. Watch the boaters and fisherman on the lake.
Run along the Delaware Canal on this 60-mile trail. The canal is a piece of Pennsylvania history from the mid-19th century and contains many miles of river shoreline and 11 islands.

Explore Washington Crossing Historic Park. Wander past buildings left behind from colonial times and relive General George Washington’s famous crossing. If you’re lucky enough to get inside, climb to the top of Bowman’s Hill Tower! Head to New Hope to learn about the historic significance of its surrounding grounds at Locktender’s House, the first interpretive center within Delaware Canal State Park. Visit the Parry Mansion, built in 1784 by one of New Hope’s founders, Benjamin Parry. It has furnishings in 11 rooms reflecting 125 years of decorative change. At night, experience a guided tour of historic sites and their lingering spirits with Ghost Tours of New Hope.
DAY TWO
Explore a reconstruction of William Penn’s former estate, Pennsbury Manor. Tour the Margaret R. Grundy Museum or one of the several impressive mansions along the Delaware River. Andalusia Historic House, Gardens and Arboretum is the former country home of Nicholas Biddle, a financier known for his role in the 19th century Bank War. Travel back in time at The Moland House, one of General George Washington’s former headquarters where he and his 11,000 troops were stationed in 1777. Stop by Summerseat in Morrisville. This former estate of Thomas Barclay was George Washington’s headquarters from December 8-14, 1776, before his famous Christmas night crossing of the Delaware River.

Head to Doylestown where you can visit the Bucks County Civil War Museum or take a Doylestown Cemetery Walking Tour.
Pennsbury Manor
Only a short drive away is the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. This Polish-American Roman Catholic Shrine founded in 1953 has been visited by several U.S. Presidents. Drive north to the Pearl S. Buck House, the former home of the Pulitzer-Prize winning author, writer and humanitarian.

VAN SANT COVERED BRIDGE
Legend has it that a new, young mother who was shunned by family and friends threw her baby off the bridge before hanging herself from the rafters. Locals refer to this bridge as “Cry Baby Bridge.”
