National Theatre Live Encore: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (As Live 12A)
Friday 5 May, 1.30pm and 7pm (Approx 3 hours and 20 minutes including interval) David Leveaux’s new production marks the 50th anniversary of the play that made a young Tom Stoppard’s name overnight. Daniel Radcliffe (Equus, The Woman in Black), Joshua McGuire (The Hour) and David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral) star in this brilliantly funny situation comedy, broadcast live from The Old Vic theatre in London. Against the backdrop of Hamlet, two hapless minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, take centre stage. As the young double act stumble their way in and out of the action of Shakespeare’s iconic drama, they become increasingly out of their depth as their version of the story unfolds.
National Theatre Encore: Obsession (As Live 15) Friday 26 May, 7pm (2 hours, no interval)
Gino is a drifter, down-at-heel and magnetically handsome. At a road side restaurant he encounters husband and wife, Giuseppe and Giovanna. Irresistibly attracted to each other, Gino and Giovanna begin a fiery affair and plot to murder her husband. But, in this chilling tale of passion and destruction, the crime only serves to tear them apart. Starring Jude Law (The Young Pope, Closer, The Talented Mr Ripley) and broadcast from the Barbican Theatre in London. Ivo van Hove (NT Live: A View from the Bridge, Hedda Gabler) directs this new stage adaptation of Luchino Visconti’s 1943 film.

National Theatre Live: Salomé (As Live 15)
Thursday 22 June, 7pm (Approx 3 hours 20 minutes including interval) The story has been told before, but never like this. An occupied desert nation. A radical from the wilderness on hunger strike. A girl whose mysterious dance will change the course of the world. This charged retelling turns the infamous biblical tale on its head, placing the girl we call Salomé at the centre of a revolution. Internationally acclaimed theatre director Yaël Farber (Les Blancs) draws on multiple accounts to create her urgent, hypnotic production.
Royal Opera House Live: Otello (As Live 12A)
Wednesday 28 June, 7.15pm (2 hours 45 minutes including interval) World-famous tenor, Jonas Kaufmann, makes his role debut as Otello in Verdi’s passionate retelling of Shakespeare’s great tragedy of jealousy, deception and murder. Soprano, Maria Agresta, will be his Desdemona and baritone, Ludovic Tézier, his nemesis Iago in a new production by Olivier Award winning director Keith Warner. Sung In Italian with English subtitles
Exhibition On Screen: Michelangelo - Love and Death (U TBC)

National Theatre Live: Angels In America Part 1 Millennium Approaches (As Live 15)
Thursday 20 July, 7pm (Approx 3 hours 45 minutes including interval) America in the mid-1980s. In the midst of the AIDS crisis and a conservative Reagan administration, New Yorkers grapple with life and death, love and sex, heaven and hell. Andrew Garfield (Silence, Hacksaw Ridge) plays Prior Walter along with a stellar cast. This new staging of Tony Kushner’s multiaward winning two-part play is directed by Olivier and Tony award winning director Marianne Elliott (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and War Horse). Part Two: Perestroika, will also be broadcast live on 27 July 2017.

MediaActive Projects Based at Wem Town Hall, MediaActive is a creative organisation that works closely with a range of partners to bring new activities and investment to the area. Our programme provides opportunities to take part in, and experience the arts, and we co-design special projects with local people, organisations, schools and community groups.

EXCITE offers young people aged 14 to 25 an array of opportunities to develop their talents and skills whilst gaining work experience by working on community projects and creative commissions alongside of MediaActive. We connect young people to local and national opportunities, and the initiative is supported by cultural and community partners: Shropshire Council Arts Service, Arts Connect, Shropshire Housing Group, Meres and Mosses Landscape Partnership Scheme, Creative Alliance, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, and The University of Wolverhampton. Champions of Flight
Using digital storytelling to explore and share stories about the role of flight and the air services in the First World War, Champions of Flight is working with young people aged 11 to 25 as researchers and creative interpreters. Working with heritage specialists, creative practitioners, and with archives and museums resources, this project will be uncovering the hidden stories of the champions of flight, from WW1 trainee pilot to post war Flying Circus showman. Sharing Skills - Sharing Stories
An intergenerational arts project, working with civilians, armed forces personnel, veterans and their families, to develop and share skills whilst creating an exhibition that will tour widely, marking the part played by the RAF throughout its history to modern day, and contributing to the RAF Centenary in 2018.
