MUSIC, THEATRE, DANCE, COMEDY WTH Top Pick! The Hut People
Friday 17 February, 8pm Taking the audience on a musical journey around the World, English instrumental duo The Hut People present a show like nothing you’ve ever seen before – expect feel-good dancing tunes, step dancing, Quebecois foot-percussion (whilst playing the accordion!) and humour aplenty to chase away the winter blues. Mixing global rhythms with folk tunes from Quebec to Spain, Scandinavia to Sussex and everywhere in between, this is a quirky celebration of our rich musical heritage – and it works so well! Accordionist Sam Pirt & Percussionist Gary Hammond both have extensive

National Theatre Live Encore: Amadeus (12A)
Tuesday 7 February, 7pm (Approx 3hours 30minutes including interval) Music. Power. Jealousy. In Peter Shaffer’s iconic play, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a rowdy young prodigy, arrives in Vienna, the music capital of the world – and he’s determined to make a splash. Awestruck by his genius, court composer Antonio Salieri has the power to promote his talent or destroy his name. Seized by obsessive jealousy he begins a war with Mozart, with music, and ultimately, with God.
National Theatre Live: Saint Joan (12A)
Thursday 16 February, 7pm (3 hours approx including interval) Gemma Arterton is Joan of Arc, broadcast live from the Donmar Warehouse. Bernard Shaw’s classic play follows the life and trial of a young country girl who declares a bloody mission to drive the English from France. As one of the first Protestants and nationalists, she threatens the very fabric of the feudal society and the Catholic Church across Europe. “Arterton’s Joan radiates a gentle simplicity and quiet fervour that are deeply charismatic… Highly recommended” The Independent

National Theatre Live: Twelfth Night (12A)
Thursday 6 April, 7pm (Approx 3 hours 30 minutes including interval) Tamsin Greig is Malvolia in a new twist on Shakespeare’s classic comedy of mistaken identity. A ship is wrecked on the rocks. Viola is washed ashore but her twin brother Sebastian is lost. Determined to survive on her own, she steps out to explore a new land. So begins a whirlwind of mistaken identity and unrequited love.
ROH Live: Royal Ballet’s Jewels (12A)
Tuesday 11 April, 7.15pm (2 hours 30 minutes including two intervals) George Balanchine’s glittering ballet Jewels was inspired by the beauty of the gem stones he saw in the New York store of jewellers Van Cleef & Arpels. Each movement draws on a different stone for its inspiration and a different composer for its sound. The French Romantic music of Fauré provides the impetus for the lyricism of ‘Emeralds’. The fire of ‘Rubies’ comes from Stravinsky and the jazz-age energy of New York. Grandeur and elegance complete the ballet in ‘Diamonds’, with the splendour of Imperial Russia and Tchaikovsky’s opulent Third Symphony. Now celebrating its 50th year, this sparkling ballet still shines with all the brilliance of the gemstones that inspired it.
