SIREN SONG WINERY
Siren Song’s Kevin Brown talks the popular Spanish event hosted at the winery
S
ON THE MENU FIRST COURSE Tortilla Espanola and imported Spanish olives
iren Song Winery has put together the ultimate Spanish experiece to let you travel all the way to Spain without needing your passport. Put on by Holly and Kevin Brown, this unique event transforms the beautiful Siren Song into a Madrid plaza. Lake Chelan This Week asked Kevin a few questions regarding the event.
LCTW: Who cooks the food?
LCTW: Why did you start this event?
KB: Holly and I create and serve a three course meal: Tortilla Espanola served with imported Spanish olives, Paella Valencia (chicken, Spanish chorizo, seafood, vegetables, saffron, and bomba rice), and Panna Cotta with Cabernet Caramel Sauce for dessert. We then have a full Flamenco show – a dancer and two Spanish guitarists. They play two sets with costume changes.
KB: Our winery has been making paella for our customers, friends, and family for over 20 years. When we moved our winery operations to Chelan in 2015, we thought the community here and our customers would enjoy it. We were right. We are now in our third year hosting this event in Chelan.
KB: Holly and I do. I learned to make paella from an 80 year old grandmother (abuelita) in the home where I lived in Spain. LCTW: What can attendees look forward to?
LCTW: Why did you choose Madrid? KB: I lived in Salamanca, Spain (home to the oldest university in Spain) and visited Madrid many times. Holly and I spent one magical evening in Madrid (as love birds do) and we decided to call one of our wines “A Night in Madrid.” This eventually became the name of this event, as well.
SECOND COURSE
LCTW: What is the best part about this event? KB: You’ll have a fabulous authentic Spanish 3 course meal, drink award-winning wines, and enjoy a Flamenco show like you’ve never seen. The dinner and show is “al fresco” (outside under the stars).
