Second Foodbank Donation Week in Wendover

During this Covid-19 Pandemic, key partners in the community including Wendover Youth Centre, Wendover Parish Council, Churches Together in Wendover and the Wendover Foodbank partnered together to run the first Foodbank Donation Week in Wendover.

Since the end of lockdown and with the effects of the pandemic still affecting people, the amount of people accessing the foodbank continues to increase in our local area. The Chiltern Foodbank, of which Wendover Foodbank is a part, has seen a continued increase in demand since the end of lockdown. This prompted us to run a second foodbank donation week from 27 September-4 October.

Over the whole week the community donated 438.8kg of food. It is fantastic to see the support for the foodbank and the donations are greatly appreciated. A special mention to staff and pupils of Halton Combined School who donated an amazing 150kg of food towards the total.

During the week we had the young people from St Mary’s Church come and help with cleaning and packing the food into crates. It was great to see these young people put their time into coming up with ways to be a part of the week and help their community. A big thank you to them for their fantastic efforts throughout the week.

Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who has been involved and contributed to the foodbank donation week. It has been amazing to see the whole community come together to help those who are in need! It is a pleasure to be part of such a generous and caring community. We are planning on running two foodbank donation weeks (In the Spring and Autumn) each year to help ensure our local foodbank and the local people who use it are supported!
