Local schoolboy takes on charity walk
Max, a local schoolboy from Aylesbury, has been inspired and motivated by his mum to take part in NOT The Midnight Walk for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity on 10 July this year after seeing her enjoy the event last year.
His mum, Charlotte, says, “I took part in the NOT The Midnight walk last year and loved it. I did it with family and friends and we had the best time. We walked past other groups of walkers and we all cheered each other on. It was so amazing to be part of something special."
If you would like to register to take part in this year’s NOT The Midnight Walk and support Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, visit www.fnhospice.org.uk/notthemidnightwalk.

No Smile Selfie
Aylesbury-based charity Youth Concern welcomed pop icon Tony Hadley to their drop-in centre Uptown Coffee Bar on Whitehill Street on Monday 7 June. Tony was there to reveal the winners of the Youth Concern ‘No Smile Selfie’ photography competition and present them with their prizes.
Youth Concern ran the competition to raise awareness of their new Photo Drop-In project that launched on 17 June
Youth Concern’s CEO, Hannah Asquith, said, “Congratulations to Miranda, Liam, Ainsley and to all entrants. The pandemic hit many young people hard and photography can be a great way of expressing emotions. The standard of entries was incredibly high and what came through very strongly was the emotional interpretation of the challenges of living through lockdown and the impact of the coronavirus threat.”

Work gets underway on lasting tribute to Buckinghamshire’s community spirit
Work has begun on the construction of Nightingale’s Rainbow – a new sculptural installation at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury - which will stand to pay tribute to the thousands of acts of kindness, courage and determination shown by people & organisations across Buckinghamshire during the pandemic and will be a permanent symbol of hope in the face of adversity.
Each of the thousands of Rainbow Tiles which will decorate the structure can be purchased and dedicated to individuals and groups who have played their part in the response to the Covid-19 crisis.
You can purchase a Rainbow Tile for £20 and leave your personal message of thanks and appreciation at www.nightingalesrainbow. org.uk.
Chiltern Society - 1000 Trees
We plan to get 1000 Aylesbury Prune trees planted across the Tring – Wendover – Aylesbury Triangle over the next 5 years to ensure its survival in the future.
Now that we have a few, the next step will be to take them to Lindengate, where hopefully they can be grown on for planting out next year. We’ll be looking for more root stock later in the year, when we may be able to identify more parent plants from the ripe fruit.
We thank all involved for their joint commitment to this project.
Chiltern Society
