Local News Local schoolboy takes on charity walk

Local Walks

Wendover Community Library offers three local walk leaflets which take in Wendover town centre, Coombe Hill or Wendover Woods. The leaflets are free; just ask at the desk!

Max, a local schoolboy from Aylesbury, has been inspired and motivated by his mum to take part in NOT The Midnight Walk for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity on 10 July this year after seeing her enjoy the event last year.

His mum, Charlotte, says, “I took part in the NOT The Midnight walk last year and loved it. I did it with family and friends and we had the best time. We walked past other groups of walkers and we all cheered each other on. It was so amazing to be part of something special." Aylesburybased charity Youth Concern welcomed pop icon Tony Hadley to their Drop- Tony Hadley with sponsor Abe Almosawi and in Centre at the competition finalists Uptown Coffee Bar on Whitehill Street on Monday 7 June. Tony was there to reveal the winners of the Youth Concern ‘No Smile Selfie’ photography competition and present them with their prizes.

Youth Concern’s CEO, Hannah Asquith, said, “Congratulations to Miranda, Liam, Ainsley and to all entrants. The pandemic hit many young people hard and photography can be a great way of expressing emotions. The standard of entries was incredibly high and what came through very strongly was the emotional interpretation of the challenges of living through lockdown and the impact of the coronavirus threat.”
