At Our Library
The Children's Zone in Wendover Community Library was closed for several weeks around mid-summer as Bryony Thomson busied herself covering the walls with suitable murals. This was part of a refurbishment funded by a Fiona Poole legacy, see https:// wendovernews.co.uk/news/tribute-fiona-poole/. As Fiona had been a reception class teacher as well as a great supporter of Wendover Community Library, the Trustees decided to use Fiona's legacy to refurbish the Children's area. They commissioned mural artist Bryony Thomson to paint the walls.

Don't miss the Soap and Porridge exhibition in the library in October. This exhibition is about how smells activate memories; the smells of soap and porridge make artist Tom Cross think about his grandparents who lived in Wendover. So, not only will you be able to come into the library to see the exhibition but also write down which smells remind you of both happy and sad memories. Tom has also agreed to come into the library to run two workshops on 12 October: 4pm for children over 8 to create a time capsule for their older selves; 7pm for adults and older children to create a lino cut which depicts a memory. Places are very limited so please book well in advance to guarantee your place.
If you have experience designing and maintaining websites and would be willing to do this on a voluntary basis, please contact Ron Melville, Chair of Friends of Wendover Library on fowlmembers@hotmail.com.
