NRASTC Lifeguard Training

Several lifeguards need to renew their certifications, so The Wendover Swimming Pool is looking at running another NRASTC training course, ideally 11-12 February

The courses for new certifications are open to anyone over age 16, and take two days (Saturday & Sunday, usually full days). The pool will pay for your course provided you agree to cover at least one session per month for the year following your course. Full training in pool procedures will be given following completion of the course.

Rotary Santa ecoSleigh

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the Santa ecoSleigh collections in December and a massive thank you to the kind people of Wendover and Weston Turville who were able to make a donation. Over £3500 was raised on the evenings and at Kings Farm Shop the day before Christmas Eve. This will be given to our current charities – Wendover Dementia Support and

the Wendover Foodbank. Rotary in Wendover and District hopes to add more to the collection before the donations are made. Watch this space for more information in late Spring/early Summer. We were pleased to be able to reward our volunteers with a post-Christmas buffet meal at The Chandos Arms in Weston Turville in January.

Aston Clinton Teen in Miss Teen Great Britain Final

Local girl Sofia Greco has won a place in the grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain 2023. Sofia has beaten off competition from across Great Britain to be named as one of the finalists.

Sofia says, "I am so excited to have made it to the final, it is a great achievement!"

Teenagers from across Great Britain will compete for the crown in a spectacular grand final. The winner of Miss Teen Great Britain will walk away with some incredible prizes including a cash prize!

The grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain will be held in 2023 in Blackpool. The weekend of Miss Teen Great Britain is set to be full of fun, with the finalists enjoying a Beauty Queen Challenge Day, a pyjama diva party and much more!

"Making it to the grand final is a dream come true - fingers crossed I will be able to win the Miss Teen Great Britain crown!"

Donations from Wendover Celebrates

Wendover Celebrates has donated £2500 raised at the 2022 event to Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and £3000 to Wendover Dementia Support.

Matilda Florence

Debut Single out 10 February

Local singer songwriter Matilda Florence, 17 years old from Wendover, will release her debut single ‘Red Lights’ on 10 February available to stream on all your favourite music platforms. It’s also available as a download to preorder on the iTunes Store.

Matilda regularly plays at The Drawingroom, Chesham and you may have seen her open Astonbury last year.

Get Around For £2 by Bus

The Government has confirmed that over 130 bus operators such as National Express and Stagecoach managing routes from the north to the south of England will charge no more than £2 for their single tickets, helping passengers with travel costs for education, work and medical appointments as they face pressures from the rising cost of living. Fares valid until 31 March

Proud of Bucks Awards

Each of Buckinghamshire’s 16 Community Boards will be celebrating local people in three award categories. Members of the public are invited to send in their nominations for those who they feel deserve recognition and praise. The three award categories are:

• Local Community Champion – For an individual (aged 21 and over) who has made a clear and positive impact in their local community during 2022.

• Young Community Champion – For a young person (under age 21) who has made a clear and positive impact in their local community or towards their peers during 2022.

• Community Group Contribution – Recognises and celebrates a group in the Community Board area who has made a clear and positive impact on the community during 2022.

There are lots of ways to nominate someone for a Proud of Bucks Award, including submitting a nomination online or downloading a form and returning it by email. New Chief Executive at Chilterns MS Centre

New Chief Executive, Richard Parkin, joins at an exciting time as we move to become a multicondition centre. Richard joins from the Union of Brunel Students at Brunel University where he was the Director of Finance and Resources, also performing the role of Deputy CEO.
