The 30-strong Kings of Herts barbershop chorus is canvassing for more men to sample the thrill and satisfaction of making a great sound singing in unison. It is launching a five-week Learn to Sing Barbershop course starting on 23rd April. The chorus meets weekly in Harpenden but also draws members from St Albans and villages across central Herts. At the end of the Kings’ last course, close on a dozen newcomers were awarded certificates by the British Association of Barbershop Singers. The Kings, performing for charity since 1983, sing from a wide repertoire in locations ranging from schools, clubs and town halls to festivals and theatres.
