What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

Around 5 years ago, my family - Kirsten (wife), Freya (daughter -currently 17), Seamus (soncurrently 15) and I flew to Ireland. We spent a week driving around the coast and staying in an AirBnB every night in a new town. We then flew to Munich, Germany and stayed with my wife’s cousins in a small town in Bavaria. There was only internet down the mountain in the town center and I was teaching an online graduate class for NYU. So, every morning and every evening I would hike down the hill and sit on the curb and check-in with my class. After a week, we took a train to Paris for 2 days. Then we took the train to Roscoff and hoped on a Ferry back to Ireland. We spent the next week in Dublin as I gave a keynote speech to a conference there.

What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

The best “vacation” I’ve ever taken is when I studied abroad in Manchester, England! I only spent two months there (I went Spring semester 2020) and my university went on strike, so it felt more like a vacation than a studious endeavor.

Vita Register

What’s one song you have memorized completely?

My absolute favorite musician is Prince. I can say I know the lyrics to most, if not all, of his songs. His music includes several genres of music including jazz, blues and gospel. One of my many favorites is The Cross. A song about of the coming of Christ. Don’t cry, he is coming. Don’t die without knowing the cross. He performs this song in the film Sign Of the Times. I cry every time.

What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

The best vacation I’ve ever had was Cancun, Mexico in June of 2021. I went with my college friends, and it was my first time ever traveling to Mexico. We went jet skiing, Xel-Ha Waterpark, and visited popular restaurants and tourist attractions such as Xochimilco.
