Intro
The Artists Appendix shows works of artists that somehow influenced me on specific parts in this book. It showcases work that represent the artist, but especially the works that relate to some chapters in this book. Every artist has a big title page, where you can see their homepages, followed by some of their works. On the last page of each part of the artist, you’ll find a short bio, as well as the titles of the works. At the end of this section you’ll find a list of the artists, accompanied by the titles of the chapter which they influenced.

that eventually led to his experimentation with explosives on a massive scale and to the development of his signature explosion events. Drawing upon Eastern philosophy and contemporary social issues as a conceptual basis, these projects and events aim to establish an exchange between viewers and the larger universe around them, utilizing a site-specific approach to culture and history. He currently lives and works in New York.

Few artists can rival him in terms of innovation, vision, talent, high-yield experimentation. and courage to peer in to the unknown. Carlson’s artwork gives us a kind of disjointed representation of the slippery nature of the unconscious mind driven to surreal Dionysian extremes. His artwork fuses together aspects of mysticism, surrealism, psychedelia, pop, naturalism and the technological, resulting in sublime juxtapositions that can totally bend one’s perception.

becomes much more available and dangerous. I often make installations with monitors, but used digital prints for this work to reference the adverts in the back of magazines. It’s like the gallery space can be divided into advertising plots, with wall space sold off by the square metre. I think of this piece as a portrait of today and my work is a sort of on-going social commentary. I work with urgency to get as much of this stuff processed before it’s entirely lost: soon spam filters will be so advanced that we’ll forget what a spam email ever was.”

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I websurfed, weak and weary, Over many a strange and curious site of ‘chicks galore’, While I clicked my fav’rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, And my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour. “Noooo...,” I cried, “give me back my cheap hardcore!” Quote the server, “404”. And the cursor, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting ‘neath the address bar that begot the 404.
