OFFICIAL EVENT GUIDE PRESENTED BY:
MT. BACHELOR SPORTS EDUCATION FOUNDATION is the leading Northwest nonprofit sports training organization dedicated to promoting positive core values within the Central Oregon youth community.
The 34th Annual U.S. Bank Pole Pedal Paddle (PPP), a multi-stage fundraising race that features the Northwest’s premiere athletes as well as “weekend warriors,” will be held on Saturday, May 15. During the event, teams, pairs and individuals participate in six sequential legs, each defined by a particular athletic category: alpine skiing, crosscountry skiing, cycling, running, canoeing/ kayaking and sprinting. Money raised by this event helps support the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation (MBSEF), a nonprofit organization that provides youth programs dedicated to promote competitive alpine racing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and cycling. More than 600 volunteers provide the backbone of the race by helping in every aspect of the event from registration and security at leg

SUMMER CYCLING
CALL YOUR FRIENDS, GET OUT YOUR BIKES & LET’S RIDE! The MBSEF Summer Cycling Program is designed for any Central Oregon teen, including our winter athletes (alpine, cross country and freeride) and their friends who have the desire to improve their cycling skills, improve their strength and fitness, and have a great time. This year, MBSEF is offering both mountain bike riding and road bike riding.
MOUNTAIN:
The mountain bike program is for ages 8 to 18, and emphasis will be on technique, fitness, proper equipment use and care, and trail etiquette. New for this year is the option to choose from either two- or three-day-a-week sessions (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays) running for three weeks at a time. Each session will culminate with a full-day Adventure Camp. The camp is included with each session’s tuition, but children can also participate without enrollment in the session. Students are invited to bring a friend along on the first Thursday of each session. Opportunities for racing will be available, and all children are encouraged to race if they are interested. A limited number of mountain bikes available for students to borrow. Please contact the MBSEF office for further details.
ROAD:
The road bike program will be for ages 12 to 18, and emphasis will be on proper cycling technique, group riding etiquette, fitness, and proper equipment use and care. New for this year is the option to choose either a three- or four-day-a-week session (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), both running three weeks at a time. Each session will culminate with a full-day Adventure Camp. A limited number of bikes are available for students to borrow. Please contact the MBSEF office for further details. Depending on the interests of the athletes, coaching will be provided at select events throughout Central Oregon at an additional cost to cover transportation and coaching fees. Please secure a $5 OBRA junior license if interested in racing at www.obra.org. Cycling is a lifetime sport, and the exciting part of the MBSEF Summer Cycling Program is introducing young mountain bikers and road cyclists to a team atmosphere where they can improve their cycling skills and fitness levels. The Summer Cycling Program also exposes young riders to a community where coaches, parents and community members are excited about developing, promoting and living a cycling lifestyle.
