Sunriver

Art Faire

The Village at Sunriver has become home to one of the area’s premier summer art events. The Fifth Annual Sunriver Art Faire, sponsored by the Sunriver Women’s Club (SRWC), will return this summer on Aug. 8, 9 and 10. Faire attendance has continued to rise and over 20,000 visitors in 2013 supported not only the Faire but the community as a whole. A survey conducted by Faire volunteers recorded that 67% of the visitors were from outside the Sunriver area; 33% were from outside Oregon. One of our participants, Tina Berry, from Tina Berry Designs of Portland, said, “I love this show. One of the best shows ever. Great setting, very well organized and wonderful people.” The Faire showcases more than 60 artists displaying and selling their fine arts and crafts. The work is juried from artist applications, the majority from Oregon and Washington; the medium for the art may include ceramics, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, woodworking and mixed media. This year it looks like there will be a significant number of new artists who are interested in showing at the Faire! In addition to the juried art, there will be live professional entertainment all three days, a food court, and an Art Center for young artists to try out their skills; last year 200 children left the Faire with handmade art. Special events will include the ever-popular Saturday night Street Dance in the Village, 7-9:30 p.m., featuring the Klassixs Ayre Band, and a Pancake Breakfast from 8-10:30 a.m. to kick off Sunday’s activities. Sponsorship is highly regarded from the local area merchants who understand the value of “community giving.” We recognize these “Sponsors with Heart” as all net proceeds from the Art Faire support deserving nonprofits in south Deschutes County. Over the last three years, the SRWC (a nonprofit corporation established in 1974) has distributed over $116,000 to nonprofit community agencies that meet the basic needs (i.e., shelter, health, food, clothing and education) of families and children residing in the Three Rivers and southern Deschutes County areas.

Faire Schedule: Friday, Aug. 8 10 a.m.-7 p.m. | Artist Village open

Saturday, Aug. 9 10 a.m.-7 p.m. | Artist Village open 7-9:30 p.m. | Street Dance with Klassixs Ayre Band

Sunday, Aug. 10 10 a.m.-4 p.m. | Artist Village open 8-10:30 a.m. | Pancake Breakfast For more details, visit the website at www.sunriverartfaire.com. For questions, email sunriverartfaire@gmail.com, or call 1-877-269-2580.
