A Carp volunteer firefighter will be officially terminated after he was convicted on June 1 of impaired driving causing bodily harm. Trevor Clarke, 37, will be fired from the city’s volunteer fire service now that a guilty verdict has been made, said Chris Burke, Dis-
trict 6 fire chief. “Now that we have a decision from the courts he will be officially terminated,” said Burke. “It’s good that the courts have dealt with it and the matter has come to fruition. “The difficulty for the organization is dealing with the employees and the fallout from it.” Burke vividly recalls the day Clarke sideswiped cyclist Jennifer Leonard: Oct. 9, 2012. It was his phone call that triggered the police investigation. “I phoned the police and said, ‘I may have the person who was involved in the hit-and-run on McGee Side Road,” Burke said. The city’s proposal to review how it charges for water, sewer and storm water services is nothing but a cash grab, says a Dunrobin resident.
Bernard Derbach, who lives on Lady Jennifer Way, says the city will be the only one receiving benefits if rural residents have to start paying storm water fees. See WHAT IS IT, page 2
