Dear Friends & Fellow Parents As the newly elected President of The Arc Westchester Foundation, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to A Matter of Taste, our signature fundraising event to support innovative, lifelong services for thousands of individuals and families impacted by intellectual and other developmental disabilities, including autism. We have gathered once again to celebrate your generosity and the essential work being done at The Arc Westchester. Tonight, we honor our steadfast supporters the Wong Family, who have devoted over 20 years to making a meaningful difference in the future of this organization. We also recognize ABB OPTICAL GROUP/DIGITAL EYE LAB Network with our Corporate Partner Award because of its enlightened employment policies that provide important opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This year, our program will highlight The Arc Westchester’s supported employment services and will illustrate how effective our staff members are in helping our individuals achieve their career goals of meaningful community employment. You will also hear how much, and in what ways, our 250 Westchester County business partners benefit from having people with disabilities as employees. Supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is a societal issue that requires attention on both a local and global level. Because it is a leader in providing excellent programs and services for people of all ages with developmental disabilities, your support of The Arc Westchester tonight, and throughout the year, impacts the entire community. Many thanks for keeping The Arc Westchester a philanthropic priority. Gratefully yours,
Ruedi Laager President, The Arc Westchester Foundation

The Arc Westchester
Dear Friends & Fellow Parents On behalf of The Arc Westchester Foundation and the event committee, welcome to the 15th Annual A Matter of Taste. Thank you for coming tonight and for bringing your friends and family. Through your support of A Matter of Taste, you are instrumental in helping The Arc Westchester provide comprehensive, innovative, and caring supports and programs for 2,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Funds are badly needed. So as you eat, drink, and make merry, please help us reach our $400,000 goal by bidding on auction items, buying wine, and most of all, raising your paddle during the Impact Gift appeal. Everything you do makes a difference! Congratulations to the Wong Family, who will be receiving the Family Partner Award, and to ABB OPTICAL GROUP/DIGITAL EYE LAB Network, who will receive the Business Partner Award. A special thank you and welcome back to our returning chefs and beverage providers, including some who have been with us since the start, and a warm welcome to those who are new to the event this year. We are so grateful to them for volunteering their time, providing their food and drink free of charge, and sharing their love for what they do. Our chefs and beverage providers are doing their utmost to create a memorable evening for you. Please offer your thanks, share your experience on social media, and remember to visit their establishments. Another special thank-you to Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits for providing wine and spirits for this evening’s event. Thanks as well to our auction item donors for providing such a wonderful array of goodies. Enjoy your evening reminiscing with old friends, making memories with new ones, congratulating our honorees and knowing that your dedication and support tonight, as well as throughout the year, are an investment in people’s lives and have a tremendous impact on the communities in which we live. Thank you and bon appétit!
Peter Herrero, Jr. Co-Chair, A Matter of Taste A Matter of Taste 2018
Elaine Masket Co-Chair, A Matter of Taste 7
Welcome I would like to congratulate everyone who has joined us tonight at our 15th Annual A Matter of Taste evening. By participating in this extraordinary event you have become an indelible part of our wonderful and inclusive community. Enabling children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live and work as integral parts of society is one of The Arc Westchester’s core values. Your engagement in this event helps, immeasurably, to bring those values to fulfillment. As delighted as we are to have you here, we have come to cherish the fundraising that this event facilitates. Over the last 15 years, A Matter of Taste has brought in over $2 million. In increasingly stringent times, these donations have become vital in providing innovative programs and quality services for our program participants. We do this, always with the expectation of assisting them in leading happier, healthier, and more independent lives. We would not be able to attain those lofty goals without your support. Tonight we also honor a number of people who have provided particularly inspirational support in fulfilling these ideals. The Wong Family will receive the Family Partner Award. Mr. and Mrs. Wong have been a source of support and collaboration with The Arc Westchester for 20 years, and have done so much to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their pursuit of happiness. ABB OPTICAL GROUP/DIGITAL EYE LAB Network will be the recipient of our annual Corporate Partner Award. Their support and generosity have also been inspirational in our endeavor to place our program participants in meaningful employment within our communities. In closing, I must express my sincere and deep gratitude to The Arc Westchester Foundation. Their tireless efforts, creativity, and selfless drive make events like tonight not only possible, but spectacular. In the words of one of my colleagues on the Board, “This is one fundraiser I look forward to each and every year.” Thank you for all of your hard work.

The Wong Family FAMILY PARTNER AWARD
Elsie & Yen Wong are the proud parents of two sons, Gregory and Christopher, and a daughter, Jennifer, who was born in 1976 with Down syndrome. With Jennifer’s birth, the Wongs became one of the legions of families impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities. Exceeding all expectations and goals that were set for Jennifer, the Wongs proudly celebrated her graduation from Irvington High School. However, finding a job was another story, until the family learned about The Arc Westchester. Through The Arc Westchester’s celebrated employment programs, Jennifer received training in office skills and a job coach. Jennifer was successfully employed by the Westchester County Clerk’s Office and then moved on to the law office of Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, where she has done clerical work for the past 15 years. Since 2014, Jennifer has been residing at The Arc Westchester’s group home in Scarsdale. She looks forward to going to work every day, and is living a happy and productive life. “Our involvement with The Arc Westchester has provided Jennifer with opportunities she deserves. They made Jennifer’s transition into the house less stressful for both her and us. The staff provides a family-like environment while allowing her to continue with her many outside activities (ie. Special Olympics and recreational programs). We can’t imagine what Jennifer’s life would be like without The Arc Westchester” say Elsie and Yen. It is with great pleasure and honor that we present this year’s Family Partner Award to our generous supporters, the Wong Family.

Arc of a Life Campaign Dear Friends,
Coming soon‌
Welcome to the 15th Annual A Matter of Taste. We hope that you are enjoying this lively and meaningful event. The Arc Westchester is unparalleled in its commitment to provide life-long comprehensive services and innovative programs for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the entire arc of their lives. Despite ever-increasing challenges, The Arc Westchester is determined to create a bright future for the thousands of individuals who depend on it every day. The $6 million Arc of a Life Campaign was designed to address a seismic shift in funding resources, an exploding population, and changed paradigms for providing these services. As Co-Chairs of this important campaign, we are pleased to report that contributions and pledges of nearly $4,900,000 have already allowed us to begin new program initiatives, improve our residences, and direct support where it is most needed. The final stretch of the Arc of a Life Campaign will continue over the next six-eight months, focusing on a few significant initiatives that The Arc Westchester’s new Executive Director, Tibi Guzmån, has presented to us. Chief among these is the completion of The Senior Connection, a seniorfriendly space with multi-generational programming at The Ann Manzi Center in Mount Kisco. The Arc Westchester Foundation was pleased to fund Phase I of this project, and celebrated the official opening at a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this month. We are currently fundraising for $1 million to complete Phase II of this project, which will include an outdoor terrace, accessible nature walking trail, and structural adaptations to the building. As we approach the campaign finish line, we hope that we can count on your continuing generosity to help us reach our $6 million goal and, at the same time, keep our life-long promise to support the individuals and families we serve, throughout the arc of their lives. Warmest regards,
William V. Healey Co-Chair, Arc of a Life Campaign
