PRESCHOOL 2019 - 2020 School Year
Keppler Academy Introduction & Philosophy
The West Chicago Park District’s Keppler Academy Preschool focuses on the developmental needs of children from three to five years old. Keppler Academy is designed to give children the tools and experiences necessary to assure a positive transition to kindergarten. Our program offers a warm, nurturing, and friendly environment where children can explore, create, and flourish. Socialization skills and independence are developed through a variety of daily skills and exercises. Our philosophy is that all children learn through hands-on experiences, exploration, and positive interactions with others. Every child is unique and will develop at their own pace. We foster an environment that will help all children succeed emotionally, physically, and socially. Every child has their own learning style and we give many options to explore and build on those abilities. (GR)
Registration, Payment & Additional Information Registration for the 2019/20 school year began March 1 for residents and March 8 for non-residents. DANCE STYLE DESCRIPTION
Ballet
Generally accepted all over the world as one of the most artistic forms of dance entertainment cherished by people of all ages. Ballet is theatrical entertainment in which dancers, usually accompanied by music, tell a story or express a mood through their movements. The technique of ballet is elaborate and requires many years of training.
Tap
Is rhythmic and fun! Tap Dance strengthens students’ abilities to count and dance in time with music and increases the speed of their foot work. Tap is also a great way to improve coordination in young dancers.
Hip Hop
Fun, quick-paced, and energetic, Hip Hop dance finds its roots in street dancing. Students learn to coordinate movements with music and are encouraged to express themselves as individuals. The boy’s only classes allow the boys to do a more physical type of choreography which includes tricks used in breakdancing.
Jazz
A fun upbeat kind of dance that teaches the students overall coordination and rhythm with funky upbeat music. Jazz dancing is the most commonly used style of dance on television shows, movies, music video and commercials. It is fun and energetic.
Lyrical
A combination of Jazz and Ballet performed to the words of songs that tell a story. The dance becomes the story of the song and the dancers are telling the story through their movements. This is a great form of dance for the dancer that loves to be expressive when they dance.
Poms
Dancers learn upbeat choreography while dancing with poms as seen at many sporting events
NEW Folkloric Ballet Jr.

If you haven’t heard of or played Pickleball, you’re missing out on the biggest craze since the Hoola Hoop! Pickleball is traditionally played on a badminton-sized court with special Pickleball paddles and a ball similar to a whiffle ball, but slightly smaller. The lower net and whiffle ball allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle. It was created with one thing in mind: FUN! It is easy to learn and play so, grab a few friends and head to the ARC Center and give Pickle-ball a try! Checkout a paddle at the front desk using your I.D. and meet in the gym.
